If the context menu says enabled, then Autosizer is working. You can
verify
this by pressing Alt-Space while focused on any window to bring up the
System menu. Arrow down to Maximize . If you hear Maximize
unavailable,
then you know the window is maximized. As far as not hearing the ding

JAWS works best when the focused window is maximized. Autosizer is
a

little
utility that automatically maximizes a window when it is first
opened,
eliminating the need to do this manually from the System menu.
Autosizer
can be set to launch automatically at Windows start-up, and it runs
unobtrusively in the backround. You can even set it to alert you
with
a
ding sound to indicate that the focused window has been maximized.
If
you
prefer not to install it, remember to always manually maximize the
focused
window (Alt-Space, X) to optimize JAWS performance. This is
especially
important when using your web browser so that JAWS can correctly
recognize
all objects on a particular web page. You can download Autosizer

Autosizer has not been updated in a few years, so version 1.71 will probably
remain the most current version for quite some time. Normally, when you get
an auto update, it's a good idea to install it to keep your program up to
date. Unfortunately, there is really no way to know in advance what impact a
particular update will have on JAWS. If people encounter problems with a
particular update, you can be sure you will hear about it on this list.

[Blind-Computing] Creating Pages in MS Word 2007

2009-05-26 Thread Mark
Hi
I am using MS Office 2007 for home and students. The trouble I am having
is with a document I use as a template for my class papers. Normally, as one
writes a paper in the template in MS Word inserts the page breaks automatically
and as a person reads down the screen with JAWS 10 the text automatically
scrolls so JAWS can read it. As of late MS word has taken to putting the body
of the paper on one page even though it has several pages worth of text. When
JAWS and sighted people read the document only part of the first page of the
body of the document actually shows. The document has a title page that shows
properly then the body of the document and finally a reference page. My
question is, how do I get this body of the paper to automatically break in to
individual pages?
 Thanks for your help.

God bless,
Mark

Hi Rogelio,

Try looking in msconfig, on the start tab and see if Autosizer appears there
and is checked. Also, do you have load Autosizer automatically with
Windows box checked? In version 1.6, it is the first option on the options
page. Take care.

 Hi Rogelio,

Do you have the box checked for show Icon in the system tray? This is
 in
Options. When you are finished making your selections and after pressing
space bar on okay press space bar on the hide choice. Pressing space
 bar
on the hide choice will keep Autosizer in the system tray and pressing
 space
bar on the exit choice will take Autosizer out of the system tray. If
Autosizer isn't in the system tray find Autosizer in your programs list
 and
start the program there and that should get it back into the system tray
 if
the appropriate boxes are checked. I hope this helps. Take care.

JAWS works best when the focused window is maximized. Autosizer is a
little utility that automatically maximizes a window when it is first
opened, eliminating the need to do this manually from the System menu.
Autosizer can be set to launch automatically at Windows start-up, and it
runs unobtrusively in the backround. You can even set it to alert you
with a ding sound to indicate that the focused window has been maximized.
If you prefer not to install it, remember to always manually maximize the
focused window (Alt-Space, X) to optimize JAWS performance. This is
especially important when using your web browser so that JAWS can
correctly recognize all objects on a particular web page. You can
download Autosizer from the JAWS Users programs page under the Utilities
heading. If you run JAWS 10, you should download version 1.6, otherwise,
 download version 1.7. HTH.

Hello to Lali on this list and whoever else who is on my contacts. I've been

Subject: [Blind-Computing] Creating Pages in MS Word 2007

Hi
I am using MS Office 2007 for home and students. The trouble I am
having is with a document I use as a template for my class papers. Normally,
as one writes a paper in the template in MS Word inserts the page breaks
automatically and as a person reads down the screen with JAWS 10 the text
automatically scrolls so JAWS can read it. As of late MS word has taken to
putting the body of the paper on one page even though it has several pages
worth of text. When JAWS and sighted people read the document only part of
the first page of the body of the document actually shows. The document has
a title page that shows properly then the body of the document and finally a
reference page. My question is, how do I get this body of the paper to
automatically break in to individual pages?
 Thanks for your help.

running
windows 2000 on a separate machine and jaws 8.0
the problem is that wen i load sam brodcaster, and wen i go to tab
through
the different windows, its not reading all the information out to me,
nor
is
it reading out the list of tracks that are in a playlist, to read the
tracks
u have to use the arrow keys,
however, wen i use my other pc with the same sam broadcaster on, and
jfw,
but a different operating system which is xp, its all working no
problem,
has anyone come up against this problem, and is there a fix for it?

HTH.

Hi George,

No, I am not saying that we don't need Autosizer. I'm not saying that
at
all. I still use it. Sometimes it can cause a focus issue and when
that
happens you uninstall it, reinstall it, if Autosizer is the problem
is

all
I'm saying and if there is a focus issue the only way to find out if
Autosizer is the culprit is to do just that. I really like this
program

find it to be a very handy tool. Take care.

Hi Mike:
I renamed the .dll and .exe for autosizer, rebooted and it seems to
have

taken care of the focus problem. The dates on the .dll and .exe were
early
06 and untill JAWS10 autosizer worked fine. Now are you guys saying we
no
longer need autosizer? I installed it back when Debbie Scales was
running
jfwlite.

Hi George Jacob,

The Autosizer has been known to cause focus problems. Several people
on
this list and the Jaws Users list have had issues with the Autosizer
program, including David Ferrin if I am not mistaken. I am not trying
to
bash the program but, I am stating what has happened. All you have to
do
is
uninstall the program and reinstall it. In my personal experience I
have
only had trouble with the updated versions beyond version 1.6 and so I
leave
the box unchecked for the program to update automatically. Below is a
direct download link for the 1.6 version.

Also Jacob, could you explain to me how you were able to change the
sound
Autosizer makes when it maximizes a window? My sound doesn't work
whether
that box is checked or not.

I hope this helps you with your focus issues. Take care.

God bless,
Mark
