Re: [Blind-Computing] need help with my computer
Hi Julio, It sounds like the users must type a password to log onto this computer checkbox is checked. Sometimes installing an update will do this for some unexplained reason. Here's the solution. 1. Go to the run dialog with WindowsKeyPlusR. Type the following without the quotes: control userpasswords2 and hit enter. 3. You should be on the above mentioned checkbox. 4. Uncheck it with the spacebar and hit enter. Next time you reboot you should go straight to the desktop without the need to enter a pwd. [Blind-Computing] Error message when accessing folders on a Windows XP computer
Hello all, please can you help? I'm trying to access my 'Documents' folder on my external drive. Whilst I can access all the files and folders on my Windows 7 laptop, whenever I try to access it on a Windows XP computer, I get an error message that the folder is not accessible; access denied. Does anyone know what settings I need to change to make folders available to both Windows 7 and XP computers? Please note they are not shared on a network, so it is not a sharing issue. Also, the Windows 7 I have on my laptop is 64 bit whilst the XP computer I'm writing this message on now is 32 bit. If editions matter, my laptop is using Home Premium whilst the computer I'm writing on is Professional. Thank you very much. Please reply as soon as possible. Take care. From Chris. Re: [Blind-Computing] Error message when accessing folders on a WindowsXP computer
The permissions sounds right John, but as this machine is part of a network on the university, we all have unique user IDs and passwords. So I am not sure if this will make a difference, however I will see what permissions are set in Windows 7 and go from there. Thanks for the help. On 11/26/09, Jon C. Re: [Blind-Computing] Permissions help
Chris, I can't remember exactly, but, highlight or place your cursor on the said folder, then, alt+enter, or shit+f10 for properties, then security tab, then advanced settings, then owner, and make sure, or add your user name account as the owner. You've probably already tried this, but just in case, I thought I'd send it along. Good luck, God bless, and happy Thanksgiving. I don't know much since I haven't got it yet. I have seen some in shops though. The keys are quite like those on a laptop, but due to the smaller size some keys are either missing or do something different. This can run off a normal USB pen. NVDA is free and unlike Jaws does not use Video intercept drivers. This means it can work straight off the pen on any windows machine with XP, or later, without needing to install any software. If there are PCs where you are going this could be a solution. The keystrokes are 95% compatible with Jaws and a autorun.inf file can be downloaded and put on your pen which will put NVDA as the first option of a autorun dialogue box. In other words pressing enter is normally all you have to do to start NVDA. Hi Yvonne that is not a hard drive! That is in fact an SD card built into the unit! I do not know much about these except that it supposedly loads faster as there ar no moving parts, so the added bonus is shock resistance. But that's all I know.
