Dear members! As you probably may have seen, the mail with the tokens and invitation to vote for the new Board of Directors has been sent out earlier today. It was sent with subject "Your Document Foundation 2017 Board Elections Voting Token" and the sender is "electi...@documentfoundation.org" Use this information in case you do not see the mail. And please check the spam folder too, of course. In case you don't have the mail and thus no token to vote, please send a message to electi...@documentfoundation.org. We'll take action to solve that. End of the elections is 2017-12-12, 24:00 CET/UTC+1 (i.e. the end of day 12). So no need to panic, but please don't forget it! We also add a note on the STV voting system we use. Please realize that it tries to optimize to make your first choice most likely to be on the board, with subsequent choices being much less probable (unless your earlier choices are very popular). As such the order of your choices really is important. Dear members of The Document Foundation, I'm writing to submit my self nomination as candidate for the next Membership Committee. It's always an honor to be in the MC, but also a pleasure because it gives the opportunity to work with really fantastic and active people to help TDF and our community to grow and keep healthy. For this reason I just have to say many thank you's to all the people of current MC, BoD and staff of TDF. Trying to grow our community ends up to let also grow myself a lot! Here's my 75 words statement: I'm already part of the current MC and it's been the second term, during which I've been honored to become chairman as I currently am. My willing for the next term is to foster inclusiveness in terms of gender, but also trying to represent both our projects: LibreOffice AND Document Liberation. Listening to members from both and trying to involve new people from all over the world, especially where we're not yet or not enough represented. [board-discuss] Board of Directors elections announcement
Dear Community, we hereby officially announce the upcoming elections for the next Board of Directors of The Document Foundation. As per § 7 II of our statutes, [1] the Board's term lasts two years. The current board started its duty on February 18, 2018. Therefore, it remains in charge until the end of February 17, 2020, so the new board will be in charge the day after that, which is February 18, 2020. That upcoming term will then (regularly) end on February 17, 2022, so the next elections of the Board of Directors will take place before. As per § 6 III, only members of the Board of Trustees of The Document Foundation, as well as current members of any of its bodies, are eligible to be elected into the Board of Directors, and the election is overseen by the Membership Committee (§ 7 II). The active electoral right is reserved to those who have been members of the Board of Trustees before this announcement (§ 7 II). § 6 III also states that members of the Board of Directors or their deputies may not be members of the Membership Committee and vice versa. This means that current members of the Membership Committee are eligible to be elected, but with the acceptance of their new role they lose their current role in the MC. For clarification, they have to step down from the Membership Committee, with effect no later than to the beginning of the new term of the Board of Directors, the minute before accepting to become a member of the Board of Directors. There is one more notable limitation: per § 8 IV of the statutes, a maximum of 1/3 members of the Board of Directors is allowed to work on an employment basis for the same company, organization, entities, affiliates or subdivisions. Nomination of candidates fulfilling the above requirements, as well as self nomination is welcome. In total, at least seven Board of Directors members are required, and given there are enough candidates, up to three deputies can be elected (§ 7 II). As deputies are on duty quite often, we encourage many candidates to participate. Re-election of current members of the Board of Directors is explicitly permitted (§ 7 II). Dear member, as you should know, the nomination phase for the election of the next Board of Directors is open, but it's going to end today. So if you haven't done yet, please consider to nominate yourself for that important but really amazing role. You have time until the end of today (Berlin time, please see the original election announcement for all details). By the way, in the nomination message candidates are asked to give a max. 75 words statement, also used on the website where the candidates are presented. In writing a motivation, one can think of topics such as: what you want to achieve, ideas on growing TDF-membership, ideas on where TDF could be in five years, ... And of course there is time-frame for Q&A with all candidates. We hope this explanation will help to give all candidates equal chances to give their motivation in the detail they like. Dear members, This is the announcement of the preliminary results of the voting for the next Board of Directors. First of all: many thanks to all people who ran for elections! The number of members who voted is 140, so 64 members did not. In fact the total amount of eligible voters was 204, therefore 68.6% have voted. I'd also like to say thanks to all the voters. Elections are the most significant moment for a member, what let them differ from anyone else in our community. With the challenging phase having ended and conflict resolved, the following results are now the final ones. The elected candidates and the membership committee discussed the options to resolve the conflict and Jan Holešovský decided to not accept the role. [board-discuss] Self Nomination for next TDF's Membership Committee:Gabriele Ponzo
Hello god people, this email is to candidate myself for the next Membership Committee of The Document Foundation. As you may already know, I'm part of the current MC, so this self nomination is for a new term in it. The ending one has been really exciting for me, as I've been growing my commitment in TDF. The reason for which I'm proposing myself again is because I'd like to bring the current / pending activities to their completion. The one I most care for is the MC's DashBoard, which finally had its kickstart and is now taking shape, thanks to the current MC, especially Ilmari, and TDF staff. But also the MCM script, which is being improved by Gustavo and Dennis, is another important one, and I'd like to follow closely, as well as other tasks such as the surveys, thanks to Jona, and some more. But most of all, I also care a lot for the health and future of TDF itself, and I'd like to help BoD to keep them safe and renovating, trying to find a vision for the next years with the help of our staff and listening to suggestions coming from members. Here's my 75 words statement: I'm already part of the current MC and this has been the third term, during which I've been honoured to be chairman. My objective for the next term is to help BoD finding and implementing a vision for next years of the Foundation, treasuring the suggestions of our members. Dear Members & Board of Directors of The Document Foundation, the present message is to express my intention to candidate myself to the next elections for the Membership Committee. Who am I: I'm italian living in Terni, in the southern part of Umbria, the region called "the heart of Italy". My daily job (as self employed) spans from IT systems administrator to (huge) technical manuals editing (with LibreOffice) and SCADA (industrial supervision software) development. I joined officially our community in 2009, when OpenOffice.org international conference was held in Orvieto, a town in my city's province. From that moment on, I've always slightly increased my involvement in the project and in its community. My most contributions have been helping users in Mailing Lists, dubbing LO official videos in italian (as I'm a professional speaker too), giving lectures, some translations and QA. Dear member, as you should know, the Nomination phase for the Election of the next Board of Directors is already open, so if you haven't done yet, please consider to candidate yourself for that important but really amazing role. You have time until next monday (included - CET, see below). By the way, in the announcement for the elections, candidates are asked to give a 75 words statement. Moreover a cool down period helps to have a better objective and distant perspective on TDF, but still having a deeper experience to understand and judge, from my point of view. On the other hand everyone is free to resign whenever they want from MC. Let's say that this is an interesting point that could be put on a To Do List to be discussed by the BoD as part of a possible bylaw, which could include some more points.
