[cayugabirds-l] Snow Geese on Cayuga Lake

Driving south bound on rt 89 along the west side of Cayuga Lake just before 
dark, we saw a very large raft of snow geese out in the middle of the lake.  It 
extended from a bit north of where Romulus-Varick Townline Rd meets rt 89 south 
to Deans Cove.

And when we got home, we were hearing snow geese overhead as well.

West Danby: Around 1:00 pm I saw a number of flocks of Snow Geese just 
entering the Cayuga Basin from the south. Not sure how extensive the flight 
was, but that mid-day timing always suggests a dawn origin in the coastal 
regions to our south. So, not entirely over yet!

Can confirm! No where near the numbers we had on 3/17 (conservatively 400,000), 
but there are two large rafts on the lake as of 5:20pm. One raft can be viewed 
from Cayuga Lake SP and the larger group viewed from Wolffy’s Grill & 
Marina/Lower Lake Rd.

The may be the last weekend to see them, I hope all who want to, get to!

[cayugabirds-l] Snow Geese on Cayuga Lake last week-end a video link and possible Auroras possible to night

Hi all,

I thought some of you might enjoy this video of thousands of snow geese that 
assembled at the north-end of Cayuga Lake. Some of you witnessed the sight and 
for those who did not get chance might love to watch this. Around 0.50 minutes 
in the video, the snow geese take to air, but before that there is so much 
murmur in the air. Best if you view it in HD format resolution.

Also today night  if the sky remains clear it is possible to view both 
Pan-STARRS comet and Auroras in the evening sky. So keep your eyes peeled to 
western and northern skies.

Right now at least it is a clear weather in Ithaca.



Except for a Great Black-backed Gull that passed over my house that was visible 
from my home-office window today no other bird activity to report.
