They have been saying this for over a year but I have not seen any break down by
country or proof. I think this number includes all CF, Homesite and eval download plus
a factor for illegal
copies... and is therefore a bit high.

I can tell you that there are approx 10,000 CFUG members worldwide who come to
meetings regularly as we shipped tag poster to all of them. Also based on what I have
seen in the DC area maybe
for every CFUG member there are 20 other developers who don't come to meetings. So
that would be 1 x 20 is 200,000 CFers estimate.

CFDJ says they sell 30,000 mags per month. So that is another lower limit.

Allr Dev Con takes 2000 people. But at $900 conf plus $1000 hotel/airfare only a small
fraction of folks can do this.

There used to be 2000 Allaire partners - allow 5-10 programmers each. That is say
20,000 partner programmers. Another number.

I would be interested in any other estimates people have and how they figured them.
;-) Thanks!

 Interesting.

Latest Allaire articles have this in the "About Allaire" section:

 "... a community of 500,000 developers ..."

2000-11-02 Thread Mark Ireland

So would I because I am doing a CF for Beginners CD and I wonder how
many people would be interested.

(BTW it has been a real challenge making the content of the CD as simple as
possible
- I mean, you must be something of a geek just to install CF and
get it going!)
