[CTRL] Military Civilian populations used as guinea pigs
-Caveat Lector- As you read this document below on Military Civilian populations used as guinea pigs, keep in mind that military medical records for Gulf War veterans have "gone missing" including approximately 400,000 records that were stored along with evidence from the Fed's orgy of destruction at Waco. England has a law that its government must investigate the death of its citizens. They did their own investigation of three people killed at Waco. They found our government malignant in its intent and charged the United States with murder! Because of the international picture (and media coverup) we don't hear what is happening, but with the above information, consider how our government would feel about Former Attorney General Ramsey Clark filing a claim for 84 people murdered at Waco. He would have been entitled to every piece of information relative to Waco, all of it was stored at federal offices in Oklahoma City! A seismograph at Still Water (50 miles away) measured two tremors. Bomb experts say there is no way to direct a car bomb to utterly destroy a federal building and leave the YMCA across the street unaffected (window washers weren't even knocked off their scaffolding). (please read this paragraph several times if you are unaware of the fact that the OKBOMB was NOT a "lone nut" with a truckoad of bullshit. This "bullshit bomb" is merely the echoing laughter of the elites who planned the bombing and the coverup. "Look what we fed the peasants thru the controlled media..." Retired Brigadier General Partin had much experience with explosives and visited OKC. He found evidence of some supporting columns under the Murrah Building were pulverized while some closer to the street (and "car bomb") were intact. He pleaded with the senate for them to prevent the building's demolition, with diagrams of his findings. He said it was a much bigger operation than a car bomb. Retired FBI veteran Ted Gunderson of Santa Monica had explosives experience. He dismissed as a cover-up the U.S. Justice Dept. claim that a simple car bomb could do the damage. He was quoted in The Spotlight, 5/15/95 as saying, "A very high tech and top secret barometric bomb was the cause ... could not have been built ... without the knowledge of research classified at the very highest level of top secret by the U.S. government." Ben Williams of American Christian Ministry said "No DEA people were in their offices at the time [of the explosion]. The `Cult Awareness' people were not in their offices at the time. A distance away, the FBI offices were also empty." A mother who lost two boys in the day-care center asked on CNN "why?" and was later told by phone to be quiet about it. Dave Hartley http://www.Asheville-Computer.com/dave GOVERNMENT ALLEGED TO HAVE USED MILITARY AND CIVILIAN POPULATIONS AS GUINEA PIGS GULF WAR SYNDROME - TIP OF THE ICEBERG If your highest ambition in life is to become a highly evolved medical guinea pig, the U.S. Army has a slogan for you, "Be all that you can be". It has become evident that many who join the ranks of Uncle Sam's military are viewed by their superiors in the Pentagon as just that: experimental animals to be used for secret inoculation and non-consensual medical research. Dr. Larry Goss, a Lawton, Oklahoma physician who has worked in Veterans Administration hospitals and clinics, caring for Gulf War veterans, had little regard for the rumors surrounding the origin of the supposed Gulf War Illness (GWI). That is, until he contracted the disease, himself, from the veterans he was treating. When his wife and son also became sick with the "fantasy" illness, as the government has attempted to label it, he became a staunch believer. His patriotic identity, Dr. Goss told The WINDS, "was the American flag and the Constitution. I should have been born on the Fourth of July," Goss said. "I came from a military family, I was for the military--and," Goss added, "I'm thoroughly disgusted and disillusioned." Evidence indicates that the government has experimented with a very large percentage of the veterans participating not only in Operation Desert Storm, but currently with those in Bosnia as well. The American Gulf War Veteran's Association* (AGWVA) claims that 40% (280,000) of the veterans participating in the Persian Gulf hostilities have contracted some form of neuromuscular or skin disorders. Among the most prominent are: * Guillain-Barré, syndrome (acute idiopathic polyneuritis) * Lou Gerig's Disease (ALS - amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) * multiple sclerosis * Scleroderma * lupus The AGWVA, founded by retired U.S. Army Captain, Joyce Riley Von Kleist, RN, was established to provide aid and an information for veterans who have contracted GWI, also referred to as the Gulf War Syndrome (GWS). Von Kleist claims to have substantial evidence supporting allegations that GWS comes from the "one thing we all have in common--vaccinations." Capt.Von Kleist engages in what seems to be
[CTRL] John McCarthy
-Caveat Lector- Dave Hartley http://www.Asheville-Computer.com/dave FROM THE WILDERNESS is proud to present the story of U.S. Army Special Forces Captain John McCarthy, a real American hero. While some would challenge hero status for a man who admittedly was ordered to train assassination teams for the CIA during the Vietnam War (none of which carried out a mission), no one can challenge the fact that as a triple volunteer (airborne, ranger, Special Forces), John served his country with bravery, honor and distinction. Like so many of the young men who went to Vietnam, he believed in his country and what he had been taught was the rightness of its mission in the world. But this is also the story of John's disillusionment and of his painful awakening, which came at the cost of wife family and friends. It is a story about how he stood alone, at a crucial moment, as his country broke its word to him and refused to capitulate as he saw that the moral leadership of those who gave him orders was an empty house of cards. - Mike Ruppert, 7/14/98 AN AMERICAN P.O.W. -- IN AMERICA By John McCarthy This is true. It happened. And it happened in the United States of America and in Vietnam. Continued suppression of the following facts and circumstances provides history with the opportunity to repeat itself. It already has once. The United States Government claims that publication of this matter will be inimical to the National Security of our country. A more accurate phrase would be National Embarrassment. Stonewalling on this issue has worked for over thirty years. Stonewalling works. It is time to take down the wall. On January 30, 1968, a Top Secret General Court-martial concluded that United States Army Special Forces Captain John McCarthy had murdered a Cambodian "peasant". Although facing the death penalty, the court sentenced McCarthy to "...be confined at hard labor for the term of your natural life." Deliberation on sentencing took all of three minutes. Amazingly enough, the sentence to confinement for life DID NOT include reduction in rank, forfeiture of pay and allowances, nor dismissal from the service. This remains a precedent in the history of Military Justice, i.e., an accusation followed shortly by a conviction. McCarthy was the Case Officer in Saigon, of a CIA directed covert operation code-named PROJECT CHERRY. The operational mission of CHERRY was a redundant, three-pronged assassination team targeted against Prince NORODOM SIHANOUK, the head of state of Cambodia. Although McCarthy was technically a member of the United States Military and Special Forces, his role as Case Officer of PROJECT CHERRY necessitated an elaborate Cover Story as a member of the Department of Defense (DOD) and was covered by identification issued by the United States Embassy in Saigon under an assumed name (John McAlister). This "cover" included absolute directives not to openly associate with any members of our military forces in Vietnam. PROJECT CHERRY was not a Special Forces mission. This CIA activity employed Special Forces personnel who were selected for their expertise in relevant skills necessary for the conduct of BLACK TERROR and ASSASSINATION missions. The Project was buried deep within a Military Intelligence unit which was itself operating under the guise of a Civic Action Team, a common CIA cover for covert operations world-wide. Although members of the Civic Action team wore various military uniforms and carried on activities as though they were legitimate military officers, some were full time CIA Agents. The "operational" members of PROJECT CHERRY were Cambodians recruited from the KHMER SEREI, the Government In Exile from Cambodia, violently anti-SIHANOUK and dedicated to the overthrow of the Cambodian Government. The KHMER SEREI was recognized by the Vietnamese Government and operated openly in South Vietnam. PROJECT CHERRY employed twelve members of the KHMER SEREI. Their missions included the conduct of BLACK TERROR against the civilian population of Cambodia, while leaving evidence of their atrocities blaming Cambodian forces for their actions. The purpose of these activities was to create CIVIL UNREST and a rebellion against the Cambodian Regime. It worked. Similar operations utilizing KHMER SEREI were also directed from the United States Embassy in Bangkok, Thailand. PROJECT CHERRY, it turns out, had been compromised by the penetration of an individual who, while holding the rank as the First Secretary of the KHMER SEREI, was the PRINCIPAL AGENT of PROJECT CHERRY and also an Operative Agent of the SOVIET KGB. He was also employed by the SIHANOUK Government at the same time. This information was provided to the United States Embassy in Saigon in February, 1967, by the leader of the KHMER SEREI, SON NGOC THANH. The Americans of PROJECT CHERRY were not notified of this revelation. This triple agents name was INCHIN LAM. As Principal Agent, LAM coordinated the activities of the Cambodian

Page 165, The World Order: Our Secret Rules, Eustace Mullins, 1992 Election Edition Dillon was Secretary of the Treasury under Kennedy, including when Kennedy was interested in moving the currency issuance back to Treasury. I always wondered why Brady (Chairman after Dillon) and Bush were so close. It struck me reading Mullin that Dillon and Bush families had been a primary link between the Fed investors and the oil industry and defense contractors in building the consensus to kill Kennedy. From: "JP Viken" [EMAIL PROTECTED] Mike, correct--it doesn't matter who came up with this (it was Jimmy Rothstein who deserves all the investigative credit--he has had a reputation for getting sensitive info out of people). This all started because I had stated to Brian Quig that in my opinion gaeton fonzi is "dirty" and I cited the Jimmy Rothstein evidence as support for my contention. But that is not my only evidence. I have excellent info from another source that "it's all there" in the "reserved" hsca affidavits and "reserved" hsca executive session minutes complete, full confessions of some of the participants actual shooters, and I have been telling people this for years--most don't care or want to hear it. [CTRL] Bauer: Gay [homo]Couples Akin to Terrorism
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/aponline/19991227/aponline191745_000.htm This is what happens when the Father relinquishes his noble role to the lusting power-hungry Mother; dysfunctional children ripe for a brain re-work by the socialists in the corrupt government schools. Eve must be put back in the box from whence she came; the female is not equal to the male, so sayest the Bible. God Blesses Those Who Bless You! Bard Title: Bauer: Gay Couples Akin to Terrorism Bauer: Gay Couples Akin to Terrorism By Holly Ramer Associated Press Writer Monday, Dec. 27, 1999; 7:17 p.m. EST MANCHESTER, N.H. Conservative GOP presidential hopeful Gary Bauer on Monday compared Vermont's Supreme Court decision recognizing gay couples to an act of terrorism. "I think what the Vermont Supreme Court did last week was in some ways worse than terrorism," Bauer told reporters at his New Hampshire campaign headquarters. Bauer praised federal authorities in Vermont for arresting a woman allegedly linked to a terrorist group, saying, "I think we all celebrate anytime terrorism is thwarted." But the religious activist said he strongly disagreed with the Dec. 20 Vermont Supreme Court ruling that the state must grant the same protection to gay couples as it does to married couples. Bauer called the decision another example of "a judicial decision that attacks America's deeply held values," and said he was disappointed his Republican rivals have not spoken up. Accusing the other Republican contenders for the nomination of surrendering their party's conservative agenda, he urged Texas Gov. George W. Bush and publisher Steve Forbes "to find their voices on these issues." Forbes, however, has spoken out. "It was a flagrant example of judicial activism. I believe in traditional marriage. The court overstepped its bounds. This, if anything, is a matter for the people to decide, not judges," Forbes said the day of the decision. During a campaign trip to Vermont in October, Bush said he opposed legalizing gay marriage no matter what the court ruled. "My opinion is we should not have same-gender marriage," he said. "I believe marriage is between a man and a woman." Spokesmen for Sens. John McCain, R-Ariz., and Orrin Hatch, R-Utah, also said their candidates objected to the Vermont high court ruling. A Canadian woman and a male Algerian companion were arrested Dec. 19 at a border crossing in Vermont. The woman, Lucia Garafalo, has been allegedly linked by federal authorities to what they describe as a terrorist group operating in Europe and Algeria. (Neil Stevenson, Snow Crash, pp.33-4) Conspiracy; In common law, an agreement between two or more persons to commit an unlawful act or to accomplish a lawful end by unlawful means. Conspiracy is perhaps the most amorphous area in Anglo-American criminal law. [ http://www.britannica.com - free at last. ] For the sake of simple beginnings, the footnote where we agreed to start is in reference to a letter: The "Prince Barnard of The Netherlands Letter", by Marshall McLuhan, 14 May, 1969; sent to their Royal Highness, Prince Barnard, in appreciation for McLuhan's invitation to address the Bilderberg Conference. How did you characterize this letter? Well, it's the 'Ur' letter; for exposing people to thoughts of McLuhan that are not popularized through Wired Magazine, or any other media coverage that ever was done of McLuhan. This shows you a level of thinking that Marshall worked from, that's just not known. So, it always initiates people into a basic point of McLuhan; giving you a jumping off point for understanding why he said what he said. [ Bob Dobbs, http://anw.com/RK/natives.htm ] This problem has been discussed elsewhere. It is also clear that elite networks (possibly with an associative function of significance equal to, if not greater than, many formal bodies) escape attention. The tip of the iceberg is signalled, for example, by the Bilderberg Group, the Club of Rome, the Club of Dakar, etc. The problem of associative networks within and between intergovernmental bodies [that] has not received attention. To what extent is the associative activity behind the "Inter-Agency Games" merely of anecdotal significance, given the problems of inter-agency coordination ? Why has the "good" associative activity received all the attention and never been related to the "bad": trade associations-cum-cartels, intelligence networks, subversive-cum-revolutionary "organisations", international crime "rings" and networks, etc ? [ http://www.uia.org/uiadocs/assfut.htm ] What goes on at Bilderberg? - It is important at the outset to distinguish the active, on-going membership from the various people who are occasionally invited to attend. Many of those invited to come along, perhaps to report on matters pertaining to their expertise, have little idea there is a formally constituted group at all, let alone one with its own *grand* agenda. [* added] Hence the rather dismissive remarks by people like sixties media guru Marshall McLuhan, who attended a Bilderberg meeting in 1969 in Denmark, that he was 'nearly suffocated at the banality and irrelevance,' describing them as 'uniformly nineteenth century minds pretending to relate to the twentieth century'. Another of those who have attended, Christopher Price, then Labour MP for Lewisham West, found it 'all very fatuous icing on the cake with nothing to do with the cake.' (Eringer 1980, p. 26). Denis Healey, on the other hand, who was in from the beginning and later acted as British convenor, says that 'the most valuable [meetings] to me while I was in opposition were the Bilderberg Conferences'. (Healey 1990, p. 195) [ http://www.tlio.demon.co.uk/bildhist.htm ] "For 42 years," Deverell reported, "the secretive organization has devoted itself to strengthening the Atlantic military alliance and economies. [..] There are no massive indiscretions, but the exchanges can be quite heated." This is a polite way of saying that members can secretly speak their minds about whatever grandiose schemes of world conquest they envision themselves as having the divine right to execute, without fearing that their words will ever be heard by the public. This tactic is very similar to the Non-Attribution Rule used at Council on Foreign Relations meetings, which prevents statements made by attendees from being reported in the media. Many media CEOs, news anchors and influential members of the press fill seats in the CFR. [Not to speak about soon to become presidents] As far as global politics and finance go, the Bilderberg is the top of the pyramid, the all-seeing eye gazing upon the construction of a New World Order . This one-world system of governance, lurking in the shadows cast by flowery language about our new "global village," will transfer nearly all economic and political power into the hands of a small

Ironically, this was done in the name of "increased deterrence." Every sensible American needs to understand why this reasoning is fraudulent at best and deadly at worst. First, some background. The impetus to change U.S. strategic nuclear doctrine came on the heels of Clinton's demand to the Joint Chiefs of Staff in early 1997 that they prepare to unilaterally reduce America's nuclear warhead deployment to 2,500 in eager anticipation of the ratification of the START II disarmament treaty. This pact has yet to be ratified by the Russian Duma. Gen. John Shalikashvili, chairman of the Joint Chiefs, responded that he couldn't comply, since the U.S. military was still operating on a former Presidential Decision Directive of 1981 to prepare to "win a protracted nuclear war." A winning strategy couldn't be implemented without the full contingent of current nuclear strategic warheads. According to Craig Cerniello of Arms Control Today (November/December 1997 issue), "the administration viewed the 1981 guidelines as an anachronism of the Cold War. The notion that the United States still had to be prepared to fight and win a protracted nuclear war today seemed out of touch with reality, given the fact that it has been six years since the collapse of the Soviet Union." Certainly, the apparent collapse of the Soviet Union is the linchpin in every argument pointing toward the relaxation of Western vigilance and accelerated disarmament. Indeed, it is the driving argument that is trumpeted constantly before Congress, U.S. military leaders, and the American people. Almost everyone is buying it -- even most conservatives who should know better. However, the most savvy Soviet-watchers can point to a host of evidence indicating that the so-called "collapse" was engineered to disarm the West and garner billions in direct aid to assist Russia while inducing the West to take over the economic burden of the former satellite states. But the most ominous evidence is found in defectors from Russia who tell the same story: Russia is cheating on all aspects of disarmament, and is siphoning off billions in Western aid money to modernize and deploy top-of-the-line new weapons systems aimed at taking down the U.S. military in one huge, decapitating nuclear strike. Contrast this with the Clinton administration's response. Incredibly, while still paying lip service to nuclear deterrence, Assistant Secretary of Defense Edward L. Warner III went before the Congress on March 31, 1998, and bragged about the litany of unilateral disarmament this administration has forced upon the U.S. military: Warner noted the "success" the Clinton administration has had in recent years, which has: Eliminated our entire inventory of ground-launched non-strategic nuclear weapons (nuclear artillery and Lance surface-to-surface missiles). Removed all nonstrategic nuclear weapons on a day-to-day basis from surface ships, attack submarines, and land-based naval aircraft bases. Removed our strategic bombers from alert. Stood down the Minuteman II ICBMs scheduled for deactivation under Start I. Terminated the mobile Peacekeeper and mobile small ICBM programs. Stopping new production of Peacekeeper missiles (our biggest MIRV-warhead ICBM). "As a result of these significant changes, the U.S. nuclear stockpile has decreased by more than 50 percent," Warner enthused. All of this has been done without any meaningful disarmament by the Russians. [CTRL] Smoking Marijuana Increases Head and Throat Cancer Risk
-Caveat Lector- Smoking is smoking is smoking... Because of the unregulated nature of marijuana production and sale, marijuana growers have no incentive to control the amount of tar in their product. In addition, most marijuana smokers hold the smoke in the respiratory tract far longer than is normal with tobacco smoke. Verb. sap. http://www.medscape.com/reuters/eline/tue/t1227-3f.html Smoking Marijuana Increases Head And Neck Cancer Risk NEW YORK, Dec 27 (Reuters Health) -- People who smoke marijuana may be more likely than those who do not smoke to develop cancer of the head and neck, according to a report in the December 17th issue of Cancer Epidemiology Biomarker and Prevention. "Many people may think marijuana is harmless, but it's not," said study author Dr. Zuo-Feng Zhang, in a statement issued by the University of California, Los Angeles. The more often each day a person smokes marijuana, and the longer they continue to smoke it, the greater their chance of developing cancer in places such as the mouth, tongue, larynx or pharynx, according to the study by Zhang, of UCLA's Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center, and colleagues. The researchers compared marijuana, alcohol and tobacco use in 173 patients who had cancer of the head and neck with that of 176 blood donors who did not have cancer. When they eliminated other factors that contribute to cancer, including smoking and alcohol intake, they found that people who smoked marijuana at any point during their lifetime were 2.6 times more likely to develop head and neck cancer compared with people who had never smoked marijuana. The risk increased in relation to the amount of the drug used and the number of years a person smoked marijuana. "If you smoke a little, your risk increases a little," Zhang said. "If you smoke a lot, your risk increases a lot." Marijuana may interact with a genetic susceptibility to such cancers, with cigarette smoking, and, to a lesser extent, with alcohol consumption to increase a person's chances of developing head and neck cancer, according to the report. Back in the 1960s, many people in their twenties smoked marijuana, Zhang points out. Because cancers of the head and neck take 20 to 30 years to develop, individuals who smoked large amounts of marijuana 20 to 30 years ago may just now be developing head and neck cancer. The researchers note that the blood donors, the comparison group in the study, may have been less likely than the cancer patients to have used marijuana. Or it is possible that the cancer patients were more likely than the blood donors to remember and report marijuana use. Either factor could bias the study, which should be confirmed with more research, the research team says. Although it's known that the cancer-causing properties of marijuana smoke are similar to those of cigarette smoke, this is the first study in which investigators have looked at the relationship between smoking marijuana and head and neck cancer, Zhang said. It is estimated that approximately 31% of adults in the United States use marijuana. Cancer Epidemiology Biomarker and Prevention 1999;1071-1078. Copyright © 1999 Reuters Ltd. All rights reserved. [CTRL] Government to Review Y2K-Fix Patent
-Caveat Lector- http://my.cnn.com/jbcl/cnews/Go?template=tnmDethd=0sname=Top+News+from+CNN art_id=5243168sbc_id=7uid=946414751200 Government to Review Y2K-Fix Patent December 28, 1999 Web posted at: 11:21 a.m. EST (1621 GMT) by Linda Rosencrance (IDG) -- In a rare move, the U.S. Patent Office has decided to re-examine the year 2000 date-correction patent for windowing that it issued to software developer Bruce Dickens on Sept. 8, 1998. But Dickens' attorney, Bill Cray of the Laguna Beach, Calif., law office of Levin Hawes, said, "Bruce welcomes the opportunity to have the patent reviewed and anticipates that it will strengthen his patent when it gets through the re-examination process." The agency's decision comes after the inventor sent bills to Fortune 1,000 companies and software manufacturers asking each of them to pay him up to $50,000 in licensing fees, as well as an additional $1,000-$2,000 per month, according to the Arlington, Va.-based Information Technology Association of America (ITAA). In addition, ITAA said Dickens was planning to increase the fees substantially for companies which didn't pay him before the first of the year. While not taking a position on the patent office's decision, Marc Pearl, ITAA's legal counsel, said the move will help companies stay focused on fixing and testing systems in the final run up to the year 2000 date rollover. "We had never taken a position on this. And we had never told companies not to pay the fees. What we did tell them was to check with legal counsel," Pearl said. "But we were concerned that [even though this was] something as obvious as windowing, an individual had found a patent officer who said this was 'non-obvious,' " Pearl said. "A number of IT companies were concerned because they had been doing things like this before, even though not directly related to the Y2K date change." Pearl said he hoped the publicity surrounding the patent office's decision would discourage companies from writing checks until they consulted an attorney. Dickens worked for McDonnell Douglas, which is now part of The Boeing Co., in Long Beach, Calif., when the firm applied for a windowing patent. When the patent office granted the patent, the company assigned it to him. Since that time Dickens started a company called Dickens2000 to solicit licensees for the windowing technique, which he calls Dickens Y2K Solution. Windowing is the technique used for accurately interpreting data entered in the double-digit year fields. Rather than having to rewrite a program to represent all dates with four digits -- 99 would be replaced by 1999 -- windowing allows a programmer to enable software to understand whether the last two digits of a date should be preceded by a "19" or a "20." This technique creates a "window" that would allow a computer to recognize, for example, that years entered as 00-29 would represent 2000-2029 and years entered as 30-99 would represent 1930-1999. In a press release Q. Todd Dickinson, the commissioner of patents and trademarks, said he decided to review the patent after the agency discovered information that wasn't considered when the patent was originally examined and granted. In this case numerous companies contacted the patent office complaining -- as well as providing documentation -- that the method was already being used by programmers before Dickens claimed he developed it, Pearl said. In the release Dickinson noted that "commissioner-ordered re-examinations were discretionary and rare." Patent office spokeswoman Ruth Nyblod said the agency couldn't comment further on the matter because of legal issues. Kazim Isfahani, an analyst at Giga Information Group Inc. in Cambridge, Mass., said the patent commissioner's decision to re-examine the patent was a "positive action." "There has been an overwhelming amount of evidence that there was "prior art" [evidence that the technique had been in use] before Dickens applied for his patent," Isfahani said. "The patent office never puts out a press release announcing that they are going to re-examine a patent," Isfahani said. "But the patent office has come under a lot of scrutiny recently for not being up on the times technologically-speaking. This is a way to [refute that]." === Robert F. While a 1950s-style blacklist is probably more the stuff of paranoia, they still say they fear being cut out of the business for politics rather than lack of talent. ... Prominent actors, like Tom Selleck, Arnold Schwarzenegger and (Charlton) Heston, have succeeded regardless of their politics, but in the eyes of lesser-known actors, such outspokenness is not an option.â - Associated Press, Las Vegas Review Journal, 12/26/99 Let the Negative Campaigning Begin âFormer Rep. -Caveat Lector- WJPBR Email News List [EMAIL PROTECTED] Peace at any cost is a prelude to war! 992301. Cohen talks terrorism, quality of life, total force by Linda D. Kozaryn American Forces Press Service WASHINGTON (AFPN) -- Military and civilian security officials at home and overseas are on guard against the threat of Y2K terrorism. All U.S. military facilities in the United States and overseas are "watching very closely," Defense Secretary William S. Cohen said during a recent trip to Italy and the Balkans. "Everyone is fully apprised of the nature of the threat." All bases are taking extra precautions over the next few weeks as the new millennium begins, Cohen said. Defense officials are keeping base commanders fully advised so they can get out the word if there should be any specific threats to that facility or to the families who live there, he said. "We try to see if there are any specific identifiable threats and where they may be," Cohen said. Referring to a global warning recently issued by the State Department to Americans living abroad, Cohen said that there have been no specific threats aimed at Americans in specific overseas areas. There are some groups, however, such as Osama Bin Laden's organization that aim "to find weaknesses," Cohen said. Security officials are determined to prevent any defense breaches by staying alert and aware of the heightened threat, he said. "The more prepared you are, the less likely groups will be to try to penetrate that," he said. "If the guard is down, then they certainly will take advantage of it." Cohen called on everyone in the military community to be alert and take precautions. Y2K terrorism was one of a several issues the secretary talked about during a late-December visit to Italy's Aviano Air Base and the USS Bataan in Naples. He also visited Task Force Eagle in Tuzla, Bosnia, Task Force Falcon at Camp Bondsteel, Kosovo, and Camp Able Sentry in the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia. The main reason for the holiday trip was to express the nation's appreciation to the military. A USO show with sports celebrities, singers, comedians and six Dallas Cowboy cheerleaders accompanied the secretary to entertain the forward-deployed troops. As Cohen looked out at about 1,000 soldiers assembled in Bosnia's Eagle Sports Complex, he noted that there is no other military in the world where there is such diversity. "From many, we have one," he told the fatigue-clad men and women with M-16s slung over their shoulders. "You are the force." Along with paying tribute to the troops for their dedication and service, Cohen pledged to follow the recent pay raise with better health care and housing. Cohen's talks with troops and reporters also highlighted DOD's quality of life initiatives. At each stop, he pledged to improve military health care and housing. "Those are the two principal quality of life issues that I will be directing myself and my staff toward during the coming year," the secretary said. "We are going to try to devote as much attention as we can to making TRICARE work," he said. The goal is to correct deficiencies in the system that lead to long lines, delayed appointments and other complaints service and family members have raised. On housing, Cohen said an important initiative will be included in the budget and that it will be announced in a few weeks. "Stay tuned," he said. "We are going to focus on getting adequate housing for folks." The secretary also told the active duty and Reserve component troops that DOD's total force concept is a success. "In recent years," he said, "there was some question about whether or not the Guard and Reserve could be fully integrated into the total Army, Air Force, Navy and Marines. That has taken place today." National Guard and other Reserve component members are playing an equal role and bearing a full share of the responsibility in Bosnia, Kosovo, Southwest Asia and other missions, Cohen said. Their success, he noted, influenced his recent decision not to cut 25,000 from the Guard and Reserve forces. "I came to the judgment that if we are going to continue to carry out our current missions, we can't afford to go down any further this time," he said. The secretary responded to questions on efforts to close more bases. Congress has turned down DOD's requests for two more rounds of closures. "We are carrying too much infrastructure," Cohen said. "Congress is spending billions in tax dollars each year on facilities that are no longer necessary for the mission. "That is a waste of tax dollars that can be better spent for pay, retirement benefits, housing, health care and procurement," he said. "Congress has to decide to either cut the overhead or increase the budget," Cohen added. "Hopefully, in the coming years, my successors will be more successful than I have been in getting additional base closures." 992302. Officials clarify CEFIP intent by Staff Sgt. Cynthia

-Caveat Lector- What A Long Strange Trip It's Been ©1999 RA Kris Millegan{[EMAIL PROTECTED]) " . . . these same secret societies are behind it all," my father said. Now, Dad had never spoken much about his work. You see, my Daddy was a spy. He entered into the "intel" world in the late thirties, later, he was OSS and G-2. During the early fifties he was the CIA's Branch Chief, Head of East Asia Intelligence Analyst Office. I spoke Dutch and Malay before English, whilst my family accompanied my "businessman" father to Indonesia in the early 1950s. That my father had worked for the government was no secret, but it just wasn't everyday conversation. So one day, when my dad sat me down, I had very little to relate to when he very soberly and in rapid succession told me, "the Vietnam War is about drugs" and "these secret societies are behind it." He then really laid one on me. "Communism is all a sham, these same secret societies are behind it all." "Hunh???" I really couldn't relate. The only "secret society" I knew of was the Mafia and my teachers had been stuffing me under desks because the "commies" were going to bomb us. And since it was the sixtiesand I was a teenager with my hair growing longerI just tossed it off as my dad's way of having an anti-drug chat and went on with life. Many years later I finally had some understanding of what my dad was talking about andboydo I wish I had asked some questions. Like, was he was talking about The Order of Skull and Bones? * * * Skull and Bones, the pirates flag, a poison warningan icon of deathan interesting symbol for what some say is merely a Yale 'frat' club. Just some college kids and their bizarre hazing humorhaving fun. For almost 170 years that grimacing visage and code of "strict secrecy" has fostered many questions. What is Skull and Bones? The Order of Skull and Bones is the oldest of several senior secret societies that are unique to Yale University. The "Order" was founded in 1832 by William Huntington Russell and Alphonso Taft. Many historians claim the group appeared as a direct result of the de-secretizing of America's oldest Greek-letter college secret society, Phi Beta Kappa. Phi Beta Kappa had been "founded with impressive ritual and high solemnity" on Thursday, Dec 5, 1776, at William and Mary College, in Williamsburg, Virginia. A few years later in April of 1780, at Goshen, Connecticut, four students were "initiated into Phi Beta Kappa." Later on November 13, the official foundation meeting was held at Yale. "Three weeks and a day later" the chapter at William and Mary came to "an end" due to the threat of a British invasion during the War of Independence. Thus making the group at Yale the oldest existent chapter. New England was going through a transformation from the strict puritanical Calvinist outlooks toward a more secular, scientific worldview. The revolutionary fervor and factionalization of the War of Independence had been sandwiched between a series of religious revivals that swept through the countryside like wildfires. During the first years of our Republic there was a big Illuminati conspiracy scare and a generation later an anti-Masonic hysteria that developed into a political force. The first national party conventionby any party, in the USwas held by the Anti-Mason party, in 1832. Many people, including, John Quincy Adams, who was elected to Congress on an Anti-Mason/Whig ticket, were publicly campaigning against the secrecy of Phi Beta Kappa. Phi Beta Kappa dropped its secret society aspect in 1832 and became an "open honorary organization," and "[in] protest, apparently, William H. Russell, valedictorian of 1833, got Alphonso Taft and thirteen other members of '33 to form what is now perhaps the most famous secret society in the United States." From the very beginning Skull and Bones encountered resentment from fellow students. The faculty sent warning letters to the parents of early initiates. Even amid this controversy the chapter persisted and flourished, and by 1884 two other senior secret societies at Yale had been formed: Scroll and Key, and Wolf's Head. Also, Phi Beta Kappa had been revived after disappearing in 1871. One old Yale tradition is "that 'Bones is a branch of a university corps of Germany, in which country, General Russell spent some time before graduation." During an infamous break-in by the "Order of File and Claw", on September 29, 1876 into the "Tomb"the windowless "Bones"-owned and -built meeting housethe walls were seen to be "adorned with pictures of the founders of Bones at Yale, and of the members of the society in Germany, when the Chapter was established here in 1832." In the cellar, the "File and Claw" raiders found a small room, with an "always-burning lamp" and "a dilapidated human skull." Upstairs three rooms were found, a lodge room with its walls covered in black velvet, a table with skull and crossbones, and the "sanctum sanctorum,"

-Caveat Lector- WJPBR Email News List [EMAIL PROTECTED] Peace at any cost is a prelude to war! SOLDIERS FOR THE TRUTH December 24, 1999 COMBAT REPORT What better way to end the year than with a true story which demonstrates the dedication and courage of the women who care for the injured. A Nurse's Story Theresa Morel Hudler as told to Roberta S. Rogers Suddenly, in my head it is 1968 and I am back in Vietnam. A monsoon rain has just ended this late-January morning when the UH-1 "Huey" helicopter settles into the mud by the 12th evacuation hospital at Cu Chi ("KooChee"). The chopper is a "slick," a troop carrier, not the medevac chopper we are used to. It is full of wounded men who a few minutes before were in battle. Their comrades have hastily loaded and flown them to us. Nurses, aides, medics run under the rush of blades to lift the wounded through the open sides of the helicopter. Triage is begun. There is the sickly smell of blood and mud, the shouts of medics, the moan of a man in pain, the down-winding whine of the chopper's engine. I have just finished my 12-hour shift and should head for the "hooch"--the nurses' barracks-- but as nurse in charge, I know I cannot leave my staff at a moment like this. "Lt. Morel, come here, please! Tell us what to do with this one!" I slop through the mud to where a nurse is standing beside a low stretcher. I crouch down beside the soldier and observe a massive head wound. This man will die if we cannot get him to a field hospital up north where they are better equipped to deal with head injuries. I motion to have an IV started and move my mouth down near the soldier's ear. "Don't worry, sweetheart; we'll get you out of here. We'll get you someplace safe. Just hang on." Glancing up through the noise and confusion toward the slowly rotating helicopter blades, I see crew members heading back to the "slick." "Wait!" I yell. "Wait! We have to take this man on! We have to take him up north!" I scramble to my feet and run toward the chopper, gesticulating wildly. The pilot glances at his crew; flying wounded is not their usual duty. After a pause, he looks back at me and nods. Hands lift the litter and slide it in, lodging it against a projecting bulkhead near the rear. It takes up all but a few inches of the width of the chopper's floor. Two door gunners, their heads bulky in huge protective helmets, climb onto narrow benches behind the litter, facing outward, sliding in behind mounted M-60 machine guns. It is not common for nurses to fly evacuation runs, and I have never been in a helicopter before, but there is no one else free to go. I scramble up onto the metal floor behind the pilot and co-pilot's seats. Someone has tossed me a flak jacket and a standard "steel-pot" helmet. I see the gunners and pilots hooking their helmet headsets into plugs in the roof: The crew will now be able to communicate with each other. I have no headset, no ear protectors. My helmet flops back and forth on my small head as I struggle to snap the drab flak jacket over my green fatigues and then reach up to check the patient's IV, attached to a hook overhead. The co-pilot shouts that voice communication will soon be impossible. He tells me to bang on his seat if I need something once we are airborne. He will swing his boom mike out then so I can shout into it. Now the chopper engine begins to whine. I am sitting with my back to the pilots' seats. The metal floor beneath me vibrates. The doors are open; it is as if the chopper has no sides, but nothing holds me in. Sweat trickles down my face and under my uniform where the flak jacket covers it. I am watching my patient closely as the engine winds up to full pitch. We lift up just above the trees, the nose drops a bit, and we move forward. We are flying. The throbbing of the engine and rotors through the metal roof and the rush of wind past the open doors are deafening. The roar increases as we begin to move a hundred miles an hour up and just over jungle trees, down low over rice patties and fields. Suddenly the pilots behind me are shouting something about enemy troops below. Simultaneously the gunners open up with their machine guns. The chopper begins to fly evasive maneuvers--banking steeply first to one side and then the other, still following the nape of the earth. The noise increases; the sounds do not blend; the noise is multidimensional, each sound adding to another. Through the vibrations and throaty pounding of the guns and the whine of the engine, despite the rush of a 100-mile-an-hour wind, I force myself to concentrate on my patient. I turn my thoughts inward to escape facing the incredible place I find myself. Hours earlier, I had begun my shift with my daily visit to the chapel area for a quick prayer for safety for myself, my staff and anyone who would be with us that day. Now I am praying again, crying silently

-Caveat Lector- 12-28-99 from: Consortium News http://www.consortiumnews.com/122299a.html Inside U.S. Counterinsurgency: A Soldier Speaks Editor's Note: Stan Goff served in the U.S. military for two decades, much of the time with Special Forces training Third World armies. His first-person account of these counterinsurgency projects comes as policy makers in Washington press for major increases in military aid to Colombias government in its war with leftist guerrillas. By Stan Goff Tolemaida is hot. The whole Sumapaz River Valley is hotter than hell. Steep, semi-arid, plenty of thorns and mosquitoes, it's the perfect place for the Lancero School, where the Colombian military runs its toughest course of training and assessment. About 70 miles south of Bogota, Tolemaida is also home of Colombian Special Forces, kind of like the Fort Bragg of Colombia. I'd been married for the second time for only 10 days on Oct. 22, 1992, when 7th Special Forces sent me there. Bill Clinton was campaigning for the presidency against George Bush, and I remember the Delta guys who were billeted alongside us shrieking and carrying on when the election results came through. "That faggot lovin' draft dodger! Shit!" Delta was there training a select group of Colombian soldiers for "close-quarter battle," which means fighting inside buildings during hostage situations and the like. We were training two battalions of Colombian Special Forces in night helicopter operations and counterinsurgency tactics. Of course, we were there helping the Colombian army to defend democracy against leftist guerrillas who were the foes of democracy. It mattered not that only a tiny fraction of the population had the means to recruit and promote candidates or that terror stalked the population. I'm not being cynical. I'm just awake now. It took a couple of decades. Growing up, I lived in a neighborhood where everyone worked in the same plant, McDonnell-Douglas, where F-4 Phantoms were built to provide close air support for the troops in Vietnam. My dad and mom both riveted, working on the center fuselage assembly. I just understood that it was my duty to fight the godless collectivist menace of communism. So, I joined the Army seven months after I squeaked through high school. In 1970, I volunteered for the airborne infantry and for Vietnam. In the years that followed, I found out that I didn't know communism from cobblestones. All I saw in Vietnam was a race war being conducted by an invading army, and very poor people were taking the brunt of it. I left the Army after my first hitch, but poverty coaxed me back in in 1977. Soon, I had stepped onto the slippery slope of a military career. But I didn't like garrison soldiering and I did like to travel. So, it was inevitable that I ended up in Special Operations, first with the Rangers, later with Special Forces. In 1980, I went to Panama. The fences there separated us from the Zonies -- the slum dwellers who lived in the Canal Zone. After that, I went to El Salvador, Guatemala and a host of other dirt-poor countries. Over and over, the fact that we as a nation seemed to take sides with the rich against the poor started to penetrate -- first my preconceptions, then my rationalizations, and finally, my consciousness. Now I am the Viet Cong. 1983: The former Special Forces guy posing as a political officer didn't even try to hide his real job at the U.S. Embassy in Guatemala. "You with the political section?" I asked. I knew what he did. I was trying to be discreet. "I'm a fuckin' CIA agent," he responded. The CIA man had adopted me out of friendship for a mutual acquaintance, one of my work associates with whom he had served in Vietnam. The CIA man told me where to get the best steak, the best ceviche, the best music, the best martinis. He liked martinis. We stopped off one afternoon at the El Jaguar Bar in the lobby of the El Camino Hotel, a mile up Avenida de la Reforma from the U.S. Embassy. He drank eight martinis in the first hour. The CIA man began spontaneously relating how he had participated in the execution of a successful ambush "up north," two weeks earlier. "North" was in the Indian areas: Quiche and Peten, where government troops were waging a scorched-earth campaign against Mayans considered sympathetic to leftist guerrillas. He was

NEW YORK: E.B.TREAT AND COMPANY 1907 == VIII GREEK-LETTER OR COLLEGE FRATERNITIES College Fraternities.Secret, literary, and social organizations of students at American colleges and universities; sometimes called Greek-letter societies, because the names of nearly all of them are made up of two or three Greek letters, which are presumed to refer to mystical words or to mottoes known only to members. It is as if the Odd Fellows called themselves the " F. L. T. " Fraternity, referring to their well-known watchwords, "Friendship, Love, and Truth." College fraternities may be classified as general, local, professional, and women's. There are twenty-six fraternities in the first group, which have chapters or branches in from four to sixty-four of the higher institutions of learning in the United States. Membership is confined in almost all instances to students studying the classics or those in the literary and scientific departments; membership originally was, and in a few instances today is, restricted to upper-class men. This has resulted in the formation of similar societies among students in professional schools, of which four have achieved prominence and a considerable membership. With the increase of institutions for the higher education of women, there have appeared nearly a dozen Greek and Roman letter secret societies for women undergraduates, half a dozen of which made themselves known beyond the walls of the colleges where they have an active existence. There are many college secret societies classed as local, that is, existing only at colleges where founded, some with Greek-letter and some with other titles, among the better known of which are the three senior class societies at Yale. If to the foregoing there be added those which have lived, shone, and left a record, American college life will be found to have given birth to almost one hundred. secret societies of this particular and unique type. The form of government prior to 1870 was weak, consisting of general supervision by a Grand, usually the parent Chapter, or by one chapter after another in turn, which made laws and regulations as it pleased, communicated the fact to the other chapters and left it to their option to obey them. But within the last quarter of a century conventions made up of delegates from chapters, with administrative bodies or councils, composed of alumni members, have had a general supervision over and management of affairs, and in leading instances have taken the place of an imperial form of government. Annual conventions are held with undergraduate chapters, in turn, when undergraduate delegates act in the capacity of legislators, leaving the duties of an executive to the council of alumni. These reunions generally end with a banquet and formal public exercises at which distinguished members deliver addresses of welcome, poems, and orations in the presence of delegates and other undergraduate members, their relatives and friends. These exercises are rendered the more attractive because of the long list of alumni prominent in the various walks of life, who may be called on to discourse eloquently touching the fraternity and what it means to those who enjoy its privileges, or on literary and economic topics. Membership in college fraternities includes active, alumni, and honorary; but the latter, with a few exceptions, is no longer permitted to increase, initiations being confined to undergraduates. At some of the larger cities, graduate members have established alumni chapters or clubs. The older fraternities, for they do not rank necessarily according to membership, have published accounts of their origin and growth; a number have issued elaborate and ornate catalogues, with lists of names of members arranged alphabetically by States and by colleges, with memoranda as to rank in the society or at college and biographical sketches of members distinguished in public life; not a few issue magazines and other periodicals, some of which are circulated privately. Nearly all have published music and song books of their own, in some instances have adopted distinctive colors, and in others, flowers,

-Caveat Lector- an excerpt from: The Cyclopædia of Fraternities Albert C. Stevens ©1907 E. B Treat, Inc. 444 pps -- 2nd Edition Out-of-print --[1b]-- New chapters of Alpha Delta Phi, Psi Upsilon, Delta Kappa Epsilon, and Beta Theta Pi were established with comparative frequency between 1844 and 1861, the societies ranking during that period about in the order named. During those years thirteen new college fraternities appeared to dispute supremacy, so far as possible, with those which were practically their inspiration, Zeta Psi at the University of New York in 1846; Theta Delta Chi at Union in 1847; Delta Psi at Columbia in the same year; Phi Delta Theta at Miami, and Phi Gamma Delta at Washington and Jefferson in 1848; Phi Kappa Sigma at the University of Pennsylvania in 1850; Phi Kappa Psi at Jefferson in 1852; Sigma Chi at Miami in 1855; Sigma Alpha Epsilon at the University of Alabama in 1856; Chi Phi (southern) at the University of North Carolina in 1858; another Chi Phi, this at Hobart College in 1860, and Delta Tau Delta at Bethany College in the same year. The original Southern college fraternity, "The Rainbow," founded at the University of Mississippi in 1842, believed to have been an offshoot from the Mystical Seven of Wesleyan, did not live long. (See Order of the Heptasophs.) The Princeton and Hobart orders of Chi Phi united in 1867, and the Southern order of Chi Phi joined them in 1874, when the amalgamated orders took the name of the Chi Phi fraternity. After the Civil War there was not much opportunity for new college fraternities to compete with those already in the field, except at the South, where chapters of Northern fraternities had disappeared. As shown in an accompanying genealogical chart of these organizations, five Greek-letter fraternities were established at Southern educational institutions between 1864 and 1870: Alpha Tau Omega at Virginia Military Institute, and Kappa Alpha (southern) at Washington-Lee University, Virginia, in 1865; Kappa Sigma at the University of Virginia in 1867; Pi Kappa Alpha at the same place in 1868, and Sigma Nu at the Virginia Military Institute in 1869, all of which have sent out branches and prospered. Aside from the founding in 1884 of a third local senior society, Wolf's Head, at Yale, the past twenty-seven years have developed few, if any, college fraternities of national repute except professional and women's societies. The quarter of a century in this department of college life has witnessed a rapid growth on the part of some fraternities which, just after the war, were not ranked among the first half dozen, and by others, the development of abnormal conservatism, with a tendency to let well enough alone, and in some instances to live on prestige. An accompanying chart makes it plain that after Kappa Alpha, Sigma Phi, and Delta Phi at Union had given rise to Alpha Delta Phi and to Psi Upsilon, the former to Beta Theta Pi and the latter to Delta Kappa Epsilon, that the line of propagation, as it were, was divided. One course was the outcome of the activity of Alpha Delta Phi and Beta Theta Pi, resulting in Phi Gamma Delta, Phi Delta Theta, Phi Kappa Psi, Sigma Alpha Epsilon, Delta Tau Delta, Alpha Tau Omega, Kappa Alpha (southern) and Sigma Nu; the other, the result of Psi Upsilon and Delta Kappa Epsilon stimulus, including Sigma Chi, Kappa Sigma, Pi Kappa Alpha, and Phi Kappa Sigma. Among remaining prominent societies Chi Psi and Theta Delta Chi had their origin at Union, and Delta Psi and Zeta Psi in New York city, where Alpha Delta Phi, Psi Upsilon, and Delta Phi had each preceded them. The foregoing suggests a classification of college fraternities into general, honorary, professional, women's, and-local. The older societies in the first group may be subdivided according to seniority and place of origin as follows: GENERAL FRATERNITIES. Union Triad. Kappa Alpha, Sigma Phi, Delta Phi. Historic Triad. Alpha Delta Phi, Psi Upsilon, Delta Kappa Epsilon. Pennsylvania Triad Phi Gamma Delta, Phi Kappa Sigma, Phi Kappa Psi. Double Triad (East). Mystical Seven, Chi Psi, Zeta Psi, Theta Delta Chi, Delta Psi, Chi Phi (Princeton, 1854). Miami Triad.Beta Theta Pi, Phi Delta Theta, Sigma Chi. Triple TriadW.W. W., or The Rainbow (dead), Sigma Alpha Epsilon, Chi Phi (University of North Carolina), Delta Tau Delta, Alpha Tau Omega, Kappa Alpha, Kappa Sigma, Pi Kappa Alpha, Sigma Nu. The characteristics of the three earlier fraternities at Union College are broadly marked. Twenty years ago and for a long time preceding, the membership of the few chapters of Kappa Alpha (very few had or have been established) was limited and exclusive, while the policy of the fraternity was distinctly one of non-extension. Its immediate imitator, Sigma Phi, was not long in securing a like classification. It, too, had a restricted number of chapters, and a tendency to regard the grandfather as having much to do with the man. Delta Phi was less

-Caveat Lector- WJPBR Email News List [EMAIL PROTECTED] Peace at any cost is a prelude to war! Thursday, December 24, 1998 12:00 AM Subject: An Illusion Of Justice AN ILLUSION OF JUSTICE The only thing worse than being convicted of a crime and sent to prison when you are innocent... is when the government deliberately does it, and then tries to keep you there. In July, 1996, John Irvin Pitner was arrested at his home in Deming, WA, and charged with six counts of conspiracy to overthrow the US Government. Among other charges, he was accused of conspiring to manufacture pipebombs, convert weapons to fire on full-automatic, and to assault kill federal officers in the performance of their official duties. These charges stemmed from a year-long undercover FBI investigation into the activities of the Washington State Militia, of which Pitner was the founder former Executive Director. They were based largely on the testimony of Edward G. Maeurer, a three-time convicted felon (fraud), who had infiltrated the militia group as a paid FBI informant beginning in June, 1995. Maeurer's official reports to the FBI claimed that he had seen handled fully-automatic M-16's, dynamite, grenades, sacks of fertilizer night- vision devices stolen from Ft. Lewis, WA, at a 'fortified' room in Pitner's garage. He claimed the militia group was planning to kill federal officers, blow up government buildings, and assassinate David Rockefeller while he attended a conference on the Olympic Peninsula, in WA State. Maeurer's reports led to a full field investigation of the WSM being conducted, and the placement of an undercover FBI agent into the group. Seven people, including Pitner, were eventually arrested brought to trial. After six weeks, the jury could not reach a verdict on the conspiracy charges, and a mistrial was declared. Pitner, along with three other militia members, was found guilty of separate illegal-weapons charges in March, '97. Pitner, who has never been sentenced for that crime, remains incarcerated at the Federal Detention Center SEATAC, in Seattle, WA. Astoundingly, according to the sworn testimony of informant Maeurer and the FBI agents participating in this case, the following facts were made known during the trial: 1. Maeurer had lied to his FBI handler's all during the investigation. On or about 20 February, 1996, Maeurer was given a series of polygraph examinations by Special Agent Raymond Lauer, a certified polygraph examiner for the FBI, concerning what he had seen and done at Pitner's home. Maeurer recanted ever having seen or handled any M-16's. He recanted ever having seen any grenades, or dynamite. (The stolen military night-vision devices had earlier been recovered were never in the possession of the WSM.) Instead, he "might have" seen an M-16. Or, it might have been "a toy". Instead of actually seeing or handling any dynamite or grenades, he now claimed to have seen boxes which he "knew" contained those explosives. 2. There was no 'fortified' room in Pitner's garage. A storage room, constructed of plywood two-by-fours, had been built in the garage and the door was not even kept locked. 3. Under questioning by federal prosecutors and defense counsel, as to why he had lied about Pitner to his FBI employers, Maeurer said he thought Pitner was dangerous and needed to be arrested. 4. Maeurer owed in excess of $35,000 in summary judgement outstanding against him, for passing fradulent checks, at the time he began informing on the WSM. Under questioning, he admitted that he had never re-paid any of this court-ordered restitution. 5. John Pitner had resigned as Director of the WSM three months prior to his arrest, due to growing financial, marital and health problems. His wife had left him, he had suffered a small stroke that summer, and was no longer attending any militia meetings. 6. Michael German (the undercover FBI agent) and Maeurer (the paid informant) assumed leadership positions within the militia group after Pitner's departure, becoming members of a three-man Leadership Council heading the WSM. 7. German and Maeurer instigated every illegal activity performed by the militia members, after assuming leadership of the organization. It was German Maeurer who first suggested building pipebombs to sell and raise money for the WSM, through German's supposed 'contacts' in the military surplus business. It was German Maeurer who brought the idea up over over again, until people agreed to do it. It was German Maeurer who first suggested converting weapons to full-automatic, and insisted on stockpiling them, and pushed the idea until it was acted upon. It was German who leased a warehouse in downtown Seattle, and German who bought milling equipment needed to alter the weapons, and German who directed people to travel out-of-state to purchase bomb components. 8. German and Maeurer caused suspicion and distrust of Pitner to

[CTRL] Survivalists brace themselves for dark side of the Millennium
-Caveat Lector- WJPBR Email News List [EMAIL PROTECTED] Peace at any cost is a prelude to war! Survivalists brace themselves for dark side of the Millennium By James Langton in New York UK News: Revealed: now it's the '1900 bug' Electronic Telegraph Y2K forum HIDDEN in the depths of forests and remote mountain valleys, thousands of Americans are preparing for what they believe is the imminent collapse of Western civilisation. Instead of welcoming in the New Year with celebrations and champagne, they will be nervously polishing their shotguns and checking huge stockpiles of dried food and bottled water meticulously assembled to survive in a world without any of the comforts and conveniences of the 20th century. The next seven days are a countdown to the moment of truth for America's small but determined survivalist movement that has retreated to a cavemen-like existence in anticipation of widespread chaos caused by the so-called Y2K computer bug. Despite assurances last week from President Clinton that most key computers are "99.9 per cent" ready for the switch from 1999 to 2000, they expect January 1 to herald the complete collapse of banking, transport, power and communications. Favourite boltholes include caves and log cabins in the Appalachian mountains, farm houses in the less populated parts of the Midwest and trailer parks in Texas, Arizona and New Mexico. A Christian community in a remote part of North Carolina is selling five-acre sites for $25,000 (£15,000), with the promise of free ploughing and a tractor with five year's supply of diesel fuel. Shops selling everything from camping equipment and clockwork radios to drums of wheat and dried beans have reported record business in recent months. Among those fleeing civilisation is Bruce Beach, a 65-year-old American who has moved with his wife and 99-year-old mother to a huge bunker in Canada, 100 miles north of Toronto, which he has built from 45 school buses buried in the ground and covered with concrete. Mr Beach, who admits that his neighbours call him "Beach the nut", says he can accommodate 500 people in the bunker and is offering a package that includes a New Year's Eve party for $8,000 (£5,000). So far there have been no takers. Also getting away from modern life is Gary North, the self-styled "chief compiler" of the Millennium Bug movement, who has prophesied doomsday from his web site and newsletter. He believes that the American constitution should be replaced by biblical law and recently moved from Baltimore to rural Arkansas in anticipation of the death of up to a billion people from disease and famine. Mr North, who holds a doctorate in history from the University of California, refuses to speak directly to the press because he believes that it has failed to take the problem seriously. However, in a long and rambling statement, he predicts the collapse of the electricity grid on January 1, followed by martial law and food riots in cities. "We're on the Titanic," he says. "It's time to start moving towards the lifeboats. Let the folks in the grand ballroom enjoy their evening. "They don't want to hear bad news, they're having the time of their lives. Meanwhile, collect your valuables, put on a life jacket, and grab a blanket. It's going to be a long night." Among the more ambitious ventures was a plan for a self-sustaining town of 500 people with its own power supply in Arizona. The venture failed to sell a single property. Many survivalists are fundamentalist Christians who see echoes of the biblical Apocalypse in the Millennium Bug, which will cause some computers to read the year 2000 as 1900 and crash. Tom Clark, a fundamentalist Christian from Chicago who sells basic supplies, including grain mills for turning wheat into flour, plans to move out of town in anticipation of "one massive problem". Mr Clark, who is now waiting in a secret wilderness retreat, said: "I don't want to have 10 million people marauding through the city looking for food, and angry because the government has deceived them." Previous predictions of failure, including a run on the banks, have failed to materialise. Lehman's, a family-run business in Ohio supplying the Amish with household appliances that run without electricity, experienced a huge upsurge in orders earlier this year, but things have been quieter since. Glenda Lehman said: "We had a lot of people slightly embarrassed and wanting to return things. But it doesn't take much to set things off. There was a report recently in [the newspaper] USA Today about problems with Y2K compliance in the water supply companies and suddenly water filters were flying out the door." Observers say that it is difficult to tell how many Americans are taking the threat seriously. Tim Watson, the editor of Y2K Magazine said of those taking precautions: "They are keeping quiet, either because they don't want others to know they are there or because they are worried people will laugh at them."
[CTRL] Panel Probed Suspected Clinton Visit to Dead Aide's Office (fwd)
-Caveat Lector- Newsmax-Inside Cover Monday December 27, 8:15 PM Panel Probed Suspected Clinton Visit to Dead Aide's Office Congressional investigators never got a straight answer when they asked whether President Clinton, along with top White House aides, had entered Vince Foster's office on the night Foster died. Barbara Olson, former Chief Investigative Counsel for the House Government Reform and Oversight Committee, told NewsMax.com on Monday that a White House memo pointing to the secret Clinton visit raised probers' eyebrows. The memo, prepared in anticipation of Congressional hearings into the Travelgate scandal by administration lawyers Jane Sherburne and Miriam Nemetz, places Clinton in Foster's office on July 20, 1993, sometime after the White House learned of the lawyer's death: "[Mark] Gearan had conversations with [Bernie] Nussbaum preparing for the press briefing during which Nussbaum said he had looked in Foster's office for a [suicide] note and had not found one. After the President had come back from Foster's office, Gearan spoke with [David] Gergen; Gergen was calling from the Residence." (Draft Memo: Sherburne Nemetz, May 15, 1996 - Investigation of the White House Travel Office Firings and Related Matters, page 663) Foster, who served as the Clintons' Deputy White House Counsel, was found shot to death in a Virginia park just hours before the events described in that passage, according to the chronology offered by the two White House lawyers. Nussbaum, who was Foster's boss, along with senior White House aides Patsy Thomasson and Maggie Williams, spent at least an hour combing through Foster's office in search, they claimed, of a suicide note. Had there been corroboration that the president himself was a part of the search party, it would have added a dramatic new wrinkle to what many still suspect was an effort to sanitize the room of damaging evidence. But Olson, who spoke to NewsMax.com during a WABC radio interview with Landmark Legal Foundation's Mark Levin, said that the Travelgate Committee was never able to clear up the mystery. "We asked Jane Sherburne about [her memo placing Clinton in Foster's office] but never got an answer that led to anything concrete," Olson said. The former investigative counsel complained about the White House's failure to seal Foster's office immediately after his death, saying there had been so many visitors, "it was like Grand Central Station." President Clinton has maintained that he did not learn about his lawyer's death until after an appearance on "Larry King Live," which was broadcast from the White House the night Foster died. But at least one other account suggests that Clinton played a role in the Foster office search. "A makeup artist for CNN's 'Larry King Live' program has told federal investigators that she overheard a conversation indicating that Clinton was aware of Foster's death before he appeared on the King show live from the White House library," reported Christopher Ruddy for the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review in 1996. (Ruddy is now NewsMax.com's Executive Editor.) The makeup artist, later identified as Rose Precopio, said that an unidentified male aide approached Clinton while she was preparing him for TV and said that a note had been found in Foster's office. Precopio claimed that then-chief of staff Mack McLarty witnessed the exchange. Olson hinted that her committee investigated Precopio's account linking Clinton to a possible Foster office cover-up, acknowledging to NewsMax.com, "Yes, I know Rose very well." News that congressional probers suspected Clinton may have secretly entered Foster's office on the night he died comes just two weeks after Fox News Channel reported that two investigators for the Office of Independent Counsel now doubt the official verdict that Foster killed himself. = Kadosh, Kadosh, Kadosh, YHVH, TZEVAOT FROM THE DESK OF:[EMAIL PROTECTED] *Mike Spitzer* [EMAIL PROTECTED] [EMAIL PROTECTED] The Best Way To Destroy Enemies Is To Change Them To Friends Shalom, A Salaam Aleikum, and to all, A Good Day. = DECLARATION DISCLAIMER == CTRL is a discussion and informational exchange list. [CTRL] Warning sounded to next US president
-Caveat Lector- WJPBR Email News List [EMAIL PROTECTED] Peace at any cost is a prelude to war! Warning sounded to next US president AGENCE FRANCE-PRESSE in Tokyo -- -- The next US president must stick to a "one China" policy and make clear Washington will never recognise Taiwan as a sovereign nation, Foreign Minister Tang Jiaxuan said in an interview published yesterday. "The Taiwan problem is the most difficult and challenging issue between the United States and China," Mr Tang was quoted by the Sankei Shimbun as telling Japanese journalists in Beijing. "It is a major concern for us to see whether a new US president and his subsequent administration will abide by the current policy and affirm US standpoints" on Taiwan. Bill Clinton leaves office in January 2001, with Republican contender George W. Bush the frontrunner. Mr Bush recently defended Washington's "one China" policy as well as Beijing's entrance to the World Trade Organisation. Beijing has not ruled out the use of force to thwart independence for Taiwan. Washington switched its diplomatic recognition of China from Taipei to Beijing in 1979. Earlier this month, Mr Clinton reiterated his support of the "one China" policy. Sino-US relations soured in 1995 when Washington granted a visa to Taiwanese President Lee Teng-hui to visit his alma mater, Cornell University. Referring to Mr Lee's 1995 trip, Mr Tang said Japan should refrain from allowing the President to visit. "As for this issue, I want Japan not to tread the same path of the United States," Mr Tang said. "I believe the Japanese Government and Foreign Minister will take appropriate measures against a plot by some Japanese who want to invite Lee as a private citizen." Mr Tang said other advances in Sino-US relations had to be seen with Taiwan as the backdrop. "The agreement on WTO benefited both China and the United States, but the biggest issue lingering between the two countries is the Taiwan problem," Mr Tang said. **COPYRIGHT NOTICE** In accordance with Title 17 U. [CTRL] Y2K terrorism: truth or government agenda?
-Caveat Lector- All: For those of you who were fortunate enough to have opened this post, I am proud and honored to present to you the single best commentary on Y2K and the so-called threat of "terrorism" that I have read!! Via David House of RP: ~~ [In regard to media coverage of terrorism related to Y2K] Yup, I share your pessimism about the 'terrorism' reports and predictions. These news 'announcements' have given me the impression of a prelude to war, one which is instigated by those who are warning of a perplexing concern, but at the same time causes me distress over the presence of a nearly concealed knife. Caesar beware! No, if there were a real and honest concern there would either be no announcement, (we don't want to upset the tourist trade do we?), or we would have been getting a more balanced and steadily building report of attempts to transport hazardous and illegal contraband, accompanied by successful efforts at thwarting these attempts. This surprising revelation is rather demonstrative of a security agency which has only just learned of a national threat. If this is the case then why is no one questioning the lateness of the data? Either we are being protected by buffoons, or there is a deeper and more troubling problem. No, again I say, we are looking at the all too chilling actions of a government turned oligarchy which has begun an entertaining fulfillment not unlike the coordinated 'news' too clearly depicted in the opening pages and moments of the novel and movie 'Fahrenheit 451'. A live manhunt underway is immediately broadcast to all the otherwise overbored and overentertained video receivers of a large metropolis. As the pursuit continues, the information which should be accompanying the report is strangely vacant of description and detail. Gone are the reasons or reasonable background which helps us understand that this person taking flight is some desperate criminal, a murderer perhaps, who deserves to be shot on site or locked away for the duration of their niggardly life. No, we are not to know whether this person is simply running for their life, or avoiding the welfare or irs police, or perhaps really is a dangerous criminal. The news coyly avoids these details and instead continues dutifully reporting the blow by blow of the quest which is shown by the helicopter and ground lighting and camera equipment, until at the conclusion the desperado is subdued in whatever manner is deemed to be proper and reasonable, and maybe will give good ratings. How long before we can expect to receive such 'entertainment'? David House = WARNING! Stay OUT of America's cities on 1/1/2,000!! -Caveat Lector- From: "nessie" [EMAIL PROTECTED] What exactly are "homosexual values" and why would the NWO promote them? Well, all the gays I've known over the years were staunch Reaganite conservatives... Good riddance. The nuclear family is a very recent and not very wide spread abberation. Most people on earth live in extended families of at least three generations. And not necessarily blood kin. What is now called 'the nuclear family' is, as you say, a recent phenomenon, and quite frankly is not all that great, in my estimation... It encourages a self-centeredness that older, 'tribal' societies (which includes most of Europe up until the 19th century) didn't have... Most people have always lived in extended families since before we came down from the trees. And those extended families then gathered into 'tribal' units, called villages and towns. "Reports of ... (SRA) often come to clinical attention based on testimony of patients about events remembered from childhood (Hill Goodwin, 1989; Young, Sachs, Braun, Watkins, l991). These memories, ...contain intriguing similarities suggesting a special information base... similarity of detail and recurrence of patterns in patient accounts often serve to weigh these accounts in favor of personal experience...patients making the allegations come from vastly distant geographic regions, yet share an unique knowledge base, ... adds to the sense of credibility (Van Benschoten, 1990; Young, Sachs, Braun Watkins, 1991)." [CTRL] Fwd: As Jan. 1 Draws Near, Doomsayers Reconsider
From Sex to Superconsciousness - http://www.truthbeknown.com http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/WPcap/1999-12/27/069r-122799-idx.html As Jan. 1 Draws Near, Doomsayers ReconsiderThe Apocalypse Is Still Coming--Later By Hanna RosinWashington Post Staff WriterMonday, December 27, 1999; Page A01 A year ago, Tim LaHaye and Jerry Jenkins, who have sold more than 10 million copies of their "Left Behind" thrillers about the Apocalypse, prophesied global upheaval on Jan. 1, 2000. The Y2K bug could trigger "financial meltdown," they warned readers on their Web site, "making it possible for the Antichrist or his emissaries . . . to dominate the world commercially until it is destroyed." But now that the hour is upon us, the prophets of doom are retreating. "We don't think it relates to Y2K at all," Jenkins said. "And we're bemused by people who do." Reminded of the Web site prediction, he said, "We regret having talked about it." Over the last year, Jenkins said, he has been reassuring nervous fans they have nothing to fear. Even those who fully embraced the date as late as last month are now backing down. Some prophets are hedging their bets, reminding everyone they only said "maybe," or they never specified the Western world, or Jan. 1 exactly. Others such as the Rev. Jerry Falwell say they have read the Y2K compliance reports and found them soothing. All are expecting a humdrum New Year's Eve. Grant R. Jeffrey, author of titles such as "The Millennium Meltdown" and "Armageddon: Earth's Last Days," is also blase. Earlier this year, the Toronto-based minister wrote that the Y2K bug "may set the stage for the creation of the coming world government that was prophesied to arise in the last days." Now he's downsizing his expectations. "It will be frustrating, like computer errors, delays in waiting for planes, that kind of thing," he said. Jeffrey does not disavow his disaster predictions, but expects them to unfold only distantly, "in the Third World" and not quite so suddenly. "It's not a January problem," Jeffrey added. "It will manifest itself gradually throughout the year, like maybe in March or April or May, or even later." It seems that the Apocalypse has been postponed. Now that the date is tangible, signs of the second coming of Christ are becoming hazy. The millions of fundamentalist Christians who seized on the Y2K bug as proof that a techno-idolatrous world was doomed now see it as more of a nuisance. "The end times people are backing down," said Damian Thompson, author of "The End of Time: Faith and Fear in the Shadow of the Millennium," a study of modern doomsday cults. "People who last year became excited about the millennium bug are suddenly saying, 'I never said that. It was him, not me.' They're extremely nervous of having December 31st, 1999, pinned on them forever." Earlier this year, Falwell distributed a packet on "The Y2K Time Bomb," including a video, "A Christian's Guide to the Millennium Bug," and a Family Readiness Checklist, telling people to stock up on such items as gardening utensils, Q-tips and peanut butter and jelly. "Y2K is God's instrument to shake this nation, to humble this nation," Falwell said in a television broadcast last year. "He may be preparing to confound our language, to jam our communications, scatter our efforts, and judge us for our sin and rebellion for going against his lordship." But Falwell says he has read the government and banking reports and he is no longer a "fatalist"; in fact, he's "encouraged." A few weeks ago, Falwell withdrew the video and has been toning down the visions. "I don't anticipate any major problems," he said last week. "I would fly in an airplane that day." When it was first revealed, the Y2K bug suited the apocalyptic temperament. It's timing even validated fundamentalist numerology. In 1654, Archbishop James Ussher of Armagh dated creation to 4004 B.C., and counting forward using numerical clues, predicted Christ's reign on Earth would begin about 6,000 years later, during what became known in evangelical circles as the Great Week. From the mainstream to the fringes, evangelical Christians adopted the Y2K bug as their own. For the last two years, they have held conferences teaching the flock how to filter water, bag sand, dry peas. Popular Christian magazines advertised gold bullion and Rapture insurance policies (in case you were snatched up to Heaven but your loved ones were left behind). But as the day approaches, even some of the fringe groups are mellowing. "I'm aware of hardly anyone who's still saying 1/1/2000 is the big day," said Ted Daniel, who runs the Millennial Center in Pennsylvania and keeps a close eye on doomsday cults. "It's the usual pattern: If you're a millenarian prophet, you have to keep people excited. But once the date gets closer, you back off." The Rev. Ralph Moats, for example, relocated some of his California followers to

End of the Year Notices and Y2K Musings Due to an ongoing shortage of funds and less than expected revenue from our recently installed online bookstore with credit card acceptance, which few Hoffman Wire recipients have patronized, I must announce that for the foreseeable future, these Hoffman Wires shall be few and far between. If you do not receive one for quite a while it does mean we have gone "off the air," but rather that I have had to scramble for funds by contracting for other work having nothing to do with revisionism. Next, several people too parsimonious to subscribe to my hardcopy REVISIONIST HISTORY (RH) newsletter or purchase my audio-cassette tapes, have solicited my views on "the forthcoming end of civilization as we know it due to Y2K." I have dealt with this topic extensively in past issues of RH and on my cassette tapes and I will not reprint articles we have published or transcripts I have broadcast for the benefit of paying subscribers and supporters, in this free forum. If that runs counter to the parasitic freebie mentality prevalent on the Internet, tough. The blown transmission on our ancient company car, the rotting teeth in my head and the bad health I experience from malnutrition, runs counter to the lifestyle of any leading establishment journalist working for Jewish interests, but such is the plight of a leading revisionist journalist working for the truth, that "our side" with its numerous wealthy individuals, doesn't care enough even to keep me out of penury. In which case I can only say, share the pain, baby. For the benefit of basic information dissemination, which these Hoffman Wire bulletins represent, I will say that Y2K panic was seeded by our enemies, partly to induce a fearful, paralyzing, bunker mentality. Gary North, Don McAlvany, Tim LaHaye and various other Christian and right wing mountebanks are now, at this late hour, issuing damage control statements which directly or indirectly modify or even retract their previously spouted Y2K nonsense. For more on this see: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/WPcap/1999-12/27/069r-122799-idx.html Another false prophet, influential fundamentalist David Wilkerson, had a "God-given" revelation in 1998 that Wall Street would collapse by the end of 1999. Many of these fellows have made millions selling overpriced "survival kits" and manuals to panic-stricken right wingers and credulous Christians who fall for every doom and rapture hoax to come down the pike. Now these con-men are bailing out at the last minute in order to rescue their credibility in time for their next highly profitable hoax. Many contemporary right wingers and fundamentalist Christians have a psychological need to avoid practical, long haul work in political, cultural and revisionist campaigns and will continue to bankroll incompetents and frauds even after their false prophecies are exposed. Y2K apocalypse will fizzle in the US, unless Bill Clinton and Co. can get the people to panic and cause breakdowns by that means. I don't doubt that there could be a few Y2K glitches in America amounting to some inconvenience, but without sabotage or widespread panic, Y2K, in the US anyway, will be a minor blip on the screen beginning Jan. 1. Y2K will hit the Third World, China, Russia and parts of Europe harder and this may push the US into a recession, due to problems with overseas markets, but that's hardly "the end of civilization as we know it." Hundreds of millions of dollars were squandered on Y2K chicken little books, videos, supplies and "manuals" that could have gone to fund hard-headed, practical shoe-leather organizations combating our enemies at every level. Furthermore, how perverse that so-called Christians have been stampeded into greeting the Third Millennium of Christ's incarnation while soiling their pants in anxiety. The Talmudists are surely savoring that disgraceful spectacle. - 2. Fun with Time Magazine I get interview requests from the major media about every other week. Some I ignore, others I grant, but almost all of them are distinguished by the fact that they are virtually never broadcast or published, though the media person almost always assures me that they will see print or gain air time. I tend to think that my interviews are suppressed because I turn the tables on the interviewers and fail to fit their caricatured expectations. By defying those expectations I overturn the conditioning of the masses to think in a pre-determined way, which is the main object of the media. Last month, Time magazine contacted me for a comment on the latest "debunking" of the infamous "Protocols of the Learned Elders of Zion." After I

-Caveat Lector- Your wrong, Sweetheart. I care deeply what others think and I consider it very presumptuous on your part to think otherwise. When one strives to live in the grace of our Lord one has to be capable of dealing with those who are critical of that desire. People who possess guilt about their lifestyle are the first to criticize and reveal their guilt of resentment towards those who try to follow the path of Jesus Christ. There is more to Life than feeling good. God has granted you the precious gift of being able to judge what is right and what is wrong; this He has done to ensure you stay on the path of righteous in accordance with His Will. When one departs from the Path it is because one has allowed the stench of one's environment to enter one's Soul. It's always been my understanding that the use of foul language is not permitted on the List. Use of such indicates a certain weakness or inability to express oneself coherently. You have your views of the role of the female, and you should permit others to hold and express their views; even though those views are much more traditional than yours. The ascendancy of the female is a goal of the Fabian Socialists who will stop at nothing to destroy our constitutional Republic. If two people of the same sex wish to cohabitate that is their business and no one's else; the problem occurs when they want recognition by heterosexuals of their lifestyle which is an abomination in the eyes of our Lord. [CTRL] Military Closing Web Sites for Y2K
-Caveat Lector- December 28, 1999 Military Closing Web Sites for Y2K Filed at 7:17 p.m. EST By The Associated Press WASHINGTON (AP) -- Taking last-minute precautions, the Pentagon and the federal personnel agency are shutting down some of their public Internet sites this weekend to keep them safe from computer hackers as the calendar rolls over to 2000. And the Department of Veterans Affairs has decided to mail January benefit checks to more than 2.5 million veterans on Dec. 30, a day early, to avoid potential delays related to the Y2K computer bug, officials disclosed Tuesday. The early mailings ``will mitigate unexpected year 2000 interruptions of benefit payments arising from anything outside our control,'' VA spokesman Terry Jemison said. The Social Security administration announced last week that checks and electronic deposits for 44 million elderly and disabled Americans also would be dispatched for delivery a day early. Y2K-compliant files for electronic Social Security payments will be at banks by Dec. 30 rather than the usual Dec. 31. Checks will be mailed earlier as well. Most people normally would receive Social Security benefits on Jan. 3. While making some last-minute adjustments, the government continued to sound a note of optimism about the country's readiness. The nation's top health official said people are not hoarding drugs so there will not be any shortages of medicine over New Year's. ``Americans have used common sense,'' Health and Human Services Secretary Donna Shalala said, citing a 60-90 day supply for nearly every category of medicine. Federal officials also expressed confidence about 911 calls going through and public safety officials being able to dispatch services. But they advised Americans to keep emergency numbers on hand. ``There was a way to call the police, to call ambulance services, long before 911,'' Federal Communications Commissioner Michael Powell said. Some problems, particularly overseas, may not become evident for weeks. And those that show up Jan. 1 in early time zones may not be a good predictor of what the United States can expect, according to Bruce McConnell, director of the United Nations International Y2K Cooperation Center. Some of the government's emphasis switched from potential computer glitches -- nearly all of these have been fixed, officials insist -- to the threat of cyber attacks. Many military installations around the country will be shutting down their Web sites temporarily as a safeguard against intrusions -- as well as a protection against Year 2000 viruses that might be launched on New Year's Eve. ``Within some defense agencies, they have thought the most prudent action was just to take their sites offline,'' said Pentagon spokesman Adm. Craig Quigley. While the Pentagon intends to keep its central Web site -- www.defenselink.mil -- in operation, Quigley said one site being temporarily blocked is that of the Defense Finance and Accounting Service, which oversees military pay. ``We're going the extra mile to make sure our people's pay isn't affected,'' Quigley said. Also being taken offline this weekend: the Web site maintained by the Office of Personnel Management, which services the rest of the government payroll. Susan Hansen, a Pentagon spokeswoman who deals with Y2K issues, said officials felt it was important to keep the main ``DefenseLink'' site up because ``that's how we will be transmitting information during the rollover.'' She said special precautions were taken to secure the site. Bases temporarily closing their Web sites include Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio. About 30 public sites are maintained at the base, including Web pages for the United States Air Force Museum and the Air Force Institute of Technology. ``We feel they (hackers) may plant some things on servers or e-mail that might go off'' after the New Year begins, said Timothy Conley, deputy director of the 88th Communications Group at Wright-Patterson. He said there is no threat to national security because the public-access sites are separated from secure sites, which will remain operational. The commandant of the Marine Corps., Gen. James L. Jones, canceled weekend travel plans, although aides said the changes were family-related and not prompted by fears of Y2K disruptions. Capt. Pete Mitchell, a spokesman for the corps, said the Marines were taking various steps to make sure there is a ``seamless transition'' to 2000. ``It is a network security issue as much as it is a Y2K issue,'' said Mitchell. ``All the branches are beginning to do things to restrict, to limit the risks of intrusion by decreasing electronic footprints.'' In addition to tracking stations set up by each service, a centralized Pentagon network monitoring system has been set up. As for civilian communications, industry and federal leaders reiterated their caution against people picking up the phone just to see if it is working or dialing 911 just to
[CTRL] Skolnick-Assassinations Of 20th Century...Why?
-Caveat Lector- Assassinations Of The 20th Century - Why? By Sherman H. Skolnick [EMAIL PROTECTED] 12-28-99 The 20th Century came to a close and those who procured political murders have not been heard from. Are there two sides to the story? If so, how far into the 21st Century will it take until we hear THEIR side articulated? And will the common people accept the explanations? In the past, I have attended sizeable meetings of political assassination researchers. At the beginning, many of those present greeted me friendly-like, even shook hands with me. During the meetings I asked sticky questions. So, my so-called "friends" and "acquaintances" hooted me down, demanded that I be silenced by being thrown out of the covention hall. What was it that so offended them? I asked questions about the financial explanation of political rub-outs. I wanted discussions of the economic forces FOR and AGAINST bloody deeds done. I dared, from an historical and intellectual stand-point, to ask if those who arranged political assassinations had any justification whatsoever? If so, what was it? Those in attendance, concerned about their book and lecture contracts, suddenly looked upon me as an ENEMY. "Turn off your tape recorder, Sherman", they shouted. I came with a small audio recorder in which I plugged a "shotgun microphone", that could pick up discussions thirty feet away and more. What scared them so, that they wanted to grab my wheelchair and roll me forcefully out of the place? Was it my long-nose microphone which to tape I obviously pointed at them like a gun? I did ask my questions to the speakers in a polite voice. At one meeting I asked Oliver Stone's chief researcher for his movie "JFK", whether the Rothschilds, friends of the Kennedy family, financed the 42 million dollar production. It ran in the Rothschild movie chain, Loew's. She glared at me. Later, when Oliver Stone himself showed up, she grabbed him by the arm, saying, "Don't talk to HIM!" Perhaps indulging me, because of my physical disability, Stone allowed me to point my mike at him as I asked a few questions and then she pulled him away. HERE ARE SOME ITEMS NEEDED TO BE DISCUSSED: If there were a well-educated populace to talk to, well-grounded in finance and history, and IF they would listen carefully, could those that were FOR political murder make a thoughtful, persuasive case? Through their monopoly press, the Establishment brain-washes us daily to their point of view. On all kinds of subjects. Why could they not run documentaries setting forth THEIR JUSTIFICATION for preserving themselves through political murders? Because WE are too stupid to understand? Because it would endanger the "powers-that-be"? What? Why? And they have to keep telling us each time, a "lone nut", a "lone assassin" did it? THE MURDER OF PRESIDENT JOHN F. KENNEDY, 1963: He was interfering with the Oil Cartel. He wanted to take away the IRS trick favoring them, the oil depletion allowance. He wanted REAL MONEY, not toilet paper from the Federal Reserve, a PRIVATE money ship masquerading as the U.S. Government central bank. A handful of ruling families own the Fed and profit from their issuance of Federal Reserve note "money" disguised as the "U.S. Dollar". Contrary to the U.S.Constitution, the Federal Reserve charges interest on their paper money issuance, benefitting certain ruling families. Kennedy was the first Catholic President of the U.S. Although labeling himself as only nominally a Catholic, he was perceived as being under the thumb of the Vatican. He violated Church Canon Law, however, by going along with the attack upon ANOTHER Catholic country, namely, Cuba. Some later explained JFK was tricked into the aborted invasion at the Bay of Pigs. Did his sin justify murder BY THE CHURCH? The Military Brass perceived him as soft on the Soviets, as a communist-sympathizer. Those who commit treason, so the logic goes, like JFK, are to be shot, right? Others now claim Kennedy was interfering with the future of the State of Israel, justifying them in snuffing him out. The book "Final Judgment" by Michael Collins Piper lays out a purported circumstantial case Israel was implicated in the murder of JFK. The book rejects, out of hand, what others claim, however, that Nazi war criminals were involved.[As documented by the late assassination researcher, Mae Brussell.] And the book does not explain how the U.S. Secret Service, the FBI, and the CIA, being the Protestant/Catholic Establishment,---how and why these espionage entities could have covered up all this FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE JEWS. JFK wanted to stop the war in South-East Asia, thus permitting, supposedly, the Soviet expansion to the Philippines and even to Australia, a former British prison colony. Kennedy was letting Dr. King rile up the country on racial issues. BUT OVERLOOKED: that JFK set loose in the U.S. that the era of the common man had arrived. A dangerous psychology, directly confronting the

-Caveat Lector- Yardeni Warns Y2K Problems Still Ahead NewsMax.com December 27, 1999 New York--The Y2K rollover date - January 1, 2000 - is just days ahead, and one major economist remains steadfastly pessimistic. Edward Yardeni, chief economist for Deutsche Bank Alex. Brown, appeared on CNBC's "Squawk Box" last week to say that the "alarms" were not heeded for Y2K and there is no use sounding them now. He believes, as he has argued for the past year, that Y2K will cause "major" problems world-wide, and will be more than a "bump in the road" - as many Y2K pundits have suggested. Yardeni says that Y2K will adversely effect the economy during the first six months of 2000 and it is sure to be a Dow-buster. In an interview with Entrepreneur magazine, published this month, Yardeni explained why his is a Y2K skeptic: . The federal government has stated most of their mission critical systems have been tested and compliant. But Yardeni complains there is no standard as to "what 'mission critical' means." He says the feds have yet to do testing on 40 major programs, and he can't believe, for instance the FAA can be compliant in time. . He chafes at the idea that Y2K problems will just be "local." Yardeni responds to such brush offs: "My response is that that's where we live!" Too many local problems add up to a "national hurricane," he said. . Yardeni has done some research and he doesn't like what he finds. "My surveys among IT professional have found something disturbing. Software patches from third party vendors for so-called mission-critical programs hadn't been provided in 20 percent of cases as of September." . Internationally Y2K could spell disaster. "I'm concerned about the state of oil companies in Mexico and Venezuela, since they got a very late start. Kuwait didn't seem to know it even had a problem until last year. The Japanese got a very late start but claim they'll be ready. I'm skeptical. The rest of Asia doesn't look like it's in good shape. China is at the top of everyone's list of countries likely to have Y2K failures " Short-term Yardeni is a bear. He advises investors to "overweight government bonds, underweight stocks, and accumulate cash in the portfolio." After the Y2K problems pass in 6 months Yardeni believes such investors will be in a better position to get back into the bull market. On CNBC, Yardeni cautioned that Y2K problems may not be apparent in the waking hours of the New Year, but may surface in the days and weeks after as supply, shipping and communications problems related to Y2K surface. It Looks like some of the "big boys" want to clamp down on communication just when it is needed most. The reason: why, cyber-"terrorists" of course. Edward + ~~~ (http://www.ft.com/hippocampus/q312522.htm) Big groups act on e-mail threat By Jean Eaglesham, Legal Correspondent, and Thomas Catán in New York Some of the UK's largest companies are blocking electronic mail over the New Year in a bid to thwart the arrival of a threatened wave of up to 200,000 computer viruses. The move mirrors growing fears in the United States that "cyber-terrorists" and anarchists will try to mark the millennium by sabotaging computer systems. Earlier this week a number of US air force bases said they would block access to their web sites over the new year to try to ward off viruses. Glaxo Wellcome, the pharmaceuticals giant, and the car manufacturers Vauxhall and Volkswagen are among the big companies planning to block e-mails. Ford yesterday refused to disclose whether it was following suit but said it was "ensuring the system was safe from outside infection". The companies fear their e-mail systems could offer an entry point for new viruses, many of which may exploit concerns over the millennium bug - the inability of some systems and programs to cope with the date change to January 1, 2000. A new virus could display a message saying, for example, that programs are "not year-2000 compliant". "This could create a considerable amount of confusion, especially in the more paranoid organisations," said Graham Cluley, senior technology consultant at Sophos, an anti-virus company. Computer experts warn that hackers could also introduce genuine year 2000 problems. "To block all e-mails could be seen as an over-reaction to viruses alone, but then there's the year 2000 question. Simply because a system is compliant now doesn't mean it will remain so," said Lars Davies, a research fellow at the University of London. Companies that are blocking access are having to resort to old-fashioned forms of communication. Glaxo Wellcome said it had back-up fax arrangements in place across the world for the 24 to 48 hours its e-mail would be down. It added that "very, very few" employees would be working over the affected period. Other companies are stepping up their warnings to employees. British Telecommunications said it was aware of the increase in viruses that would be triggered by the date change and had alerted all its employees with remote access to its intranet. British Aerospace said it was running e-mail as normal but watching out for specific viruses - "we have a very good idea where a lot of these are coming from or could come from". [CTRL] Year 2000 sparks dash for weapons
-Caveat Lector- So much for all that liberal snivelling over gun control. I love this story! ~ The run on guns Year 2000 sparks dash for weapons By Julie Foster © 1999 WorldNetDaily.com With the millennium just four days away, gun purchases in the month of December are at an all-time high, according to FBI statistics, showing more than a 20 percent increase over December 1998. Government officials played down the role that fear -- of Y2K, and particularly of Y2K-related domestic terrorism -- has likely played in the record gun purchases. Rather, FBI spokesmen credited the booming economy and the Christmas gift-giving season as probable reasons for the huge jump in nationwide firearm background checks. "We expect a December spike based on Christmas sales," said Daniel Wells, acting operations manager for the FBI's National Instant Criminal Background Check system, according to an Associated Press report. "It's a bit larger than we expected." Larger indeed. Federal officials conducted 1,045,799 background checks from Dec. 1-26, compared to 871,644 checks during all of December 1998. And Thursday, Dec. 23 broke all records, with the FBI reporting an unprecedented 67,000 background checks in one day. The background-check system, operated by the FBI and state governments since 1993, is required by the federal Brady law and replaces the voluntary checks on handgun buyers that used to be conducted by state and local police and sheriffs. Since the nationwide system began on Nov. 30, 1998, state and federal officials have conducted 9,823,408 checks, said FBI spokesman Kevin Wilkinson. Although handgun-filled stockings may not account for the large spike in background checks, fear of terrorist attacks in the U.S. may. Earlier this month, suspected terrorist Ahmed Ressam was captured trying to smuggle explosives into Washington state. Another suspected terrorist, Lucia Garofalo, who has ties to Algerian Islamic groups, was stopped at the Vermont border. Both suspects have ties to Osama bin Laden, according to the FBI. As a result of these and many other ominous events, the government has issued its sternest public advisories ever with respect to the dangers of terrorist attacks against Americans. The White House has cautioned Americans at home and abroad to use "caution" while celebrating the new millennium, saying that crowds and "suspicious" individuals should be avoided. A Justice Department press conference urged citizens to be extra aware and cautious during the holiday season, reporting to authorities suspicious strangers and unattended packages and bags. Despite all the year end concern, however, John Koskinen, President Clinton's official Y2K advisor, says Americans appear not to be worried about Y2K. "Even now, at this late date, we see no evidence at all of any increased anxiety by the public as a result of Y2K," he said from a special $50 million Y2K command center set up by the White House. Koskinen also noted that Americans have not demonstrated financial concern over the Y2K computer glitch that could affect banking systems nationwide. "We see no indication at all that people are increasing in any noticeable way financial transactions or withdrawal of funds,"' he said. "And we have no indications thus far that anybody is, you know, starting to stock up or load up on gasoline." Despite Koskinen's upbeat assessment, the truth is, for months Americans have been withdrawing money in preparation for anticipated Y2K problems, with repeated polls showing a large percentage of Americans making significant cash withdrawals. Indeed, the Federal Reserve system has stocked national banks with double their normal cash reserves to prevent any bank runs that could result from too many banking customers withdrawing too much money at the same time. Likewise, Australian, Canadian and British banks have increased their cash reserves up to four-fold. So, along with stockpiling -- or as detractors call it, "hoarding" -- cash, Americans also appear now to be purchasing firearms in record numbers. As for gasoline -- when Energy Secretary Bill Richardson and the American Automobile Association, from a downtown Washington D.C. gas station urged Americans not to "hoard" gasoline in anticipation of Y2K-related shortages, Richardson stood in front of a mock gas gauge reading halfway between "Empty" and "Full." "If you have half a tank on New Year's Eve, you're okay," promised the Energy secretary. With the near-impossible task of simultaneously assuring Americans that there would be neither shortages of gasoline nor price increases, yet also urging motorists not to fill their tanks before "the big weekend," a reporter asked Richardson why consumers needed to fill their tanks only halfway if there were no anticipated gas shortages. Richardson answered that only motorists gearing up for a long trip have cause to fill the tanks. Steve Hayes, managing
[CTRL] Worldwide Millennium chaos, and still four days to go
-Caveat Lector- Worldwide Millennium chaos, and still four days to go By Robert Uhlig, Technology Correspondent 'Keep bug at bay' with final check on the bank ONE of the fallacies surrounding the Millennium bug is that it will strike precisely at midnight on Dec 31, but it has already caused mishaps, confusion and failures several hundreds of times around the world. Many disruptions occurred when computers or electronic systems infected with the bug tried to make a date-dependent calculation that ended in 2000. Others took place because self-checking routines in computer software became confused when they attempted to forecast ahead and had to deal with a two-digit year date, such as 00 or 01 for 2000 and 2001, that is a lower number than the current year. But most failures have been the result of human errors introduced when computers and electronic systems were being fixed and tested for the Millennium bug. In some cases, such as the troubles at the Passport Agency in August, the Millennium bug fixing process caused an already over-loaded system to collapse. Most Millennium-bug-related mishaps have been covered up or averted before they caused noticeable damage. But among those that have been recorded are: Last week, Wells Fargo, a large American bank, sent out certificate of deposit renewal notices to its customers dated Jan 1, 1900. The previous day about 3,600 customers in Iowa City received water bills that threatened them with an extra charge for payments made after Jan 3, 1900. Earlier this month, when the Bermudan Stock Exchange went back to using an old computer system during a Millennium bug updating programme, its daily electronic exchange report listed dividend payout dates as 1900. On Dec 9, Deutsche Bank was hit by a day-long computer shutdown that prevented it from undertaking international transactions for a day. A Deutsche Bank source told the trade publication Computer Weekly that the crash was related to the Millennium bug and happened when the bank was upgrading transaction management software. In September, the Inland Revenue sent out National Insurance certificates which erroneously had dates printed in early 1900, rather than early 2000. A tax Certificate of Exemption stated: "You do not have to pay Class 2 National Insurance contributions from April 10, 1999 to April 6, 1902". Computer experts said it was almost certainly a problem with the Inland Revenue's mainframe systems, which came on top of other problems the Revenue has had while updating its systems for the Millennium. In August, the Revenue erroneously threatened a law-abiding company with the bailiffs because Millennium bug work prevented staff from realising that the company's tax payments were up to date. In a letter of apology, a Revenue officer wrote: "I cannot give details of our Year 2000 measures and progress as you will appreciate that this is confidential, Government-sensitive information. But I can say that the above measures are causing extreme problems within the Inland Revenue, particularly this office, and have been for several weeks now." The American government's Social Security Administration sent out more than 32,000 letters to benefit claimants with Jan 1, 1900 as the date when some of their benefits stop. In August, the National Air Traffic Services had to switch off its computer systems for a weekend and revert to pen and paper during a year 2000 upgrade. The upgrade came shortly after NATS declared itself ready for the Millennium. NATS claimed it was for normal maintenance work. Also in August, 4,000 Londoners were left without power over a weekend after a Millennium bug upgrade went wrong. London Electricity was attempting to make its power-key meters Millennium compliant, but when customers used the new keys, the meters were corrupted and cut off their power. In July, it was discovered that serious faults in the Coastguard Service's new computer system could put lives at risk during the solar eclipse. The system was ordered to avoid year 2000 problems and was being installed at the time but one coastguard officer said: "It has so many glitches and faults and crashes all the time." In June, four million gallons of raw sewage flooded a suburb of Los Angeles when a computer mistakenly closed a gate, blocking a major sewage line. The sewage overflowed 500ft on to the streets and into Lake Balboa Park. The spill occurred when city officials were testing a Y2K contingency plan. = WARNING!
