Re: [Declude.JunkMail] upgrade to 4x
Hi Sandy, Sanford Whiteman wrote: I have been running 2.0.16 however it has a bug that external tests will double-dip; eg fail the same external test multiple times... I reported it to tech support with no resolution - so my only recourse is to run the latest ver. Is it established that this is fixed in 3.x or 4.x? dunno. That would be a question for Declude - I know you reported it to me vis--vis SPAMC32, and I wonder if you were able to discover whether the exe was being forked twice, or whether the result of one of one fork was being duped completely within Declude? Of the several messages I tested running spamc32 from command line I saw no anomalies - What kind of log data ended up showing up at DEBUG level? I cannot run that log level for extended times - and since this is such an isolated occurance that would be necessary to capture this event. And did you isolate circumstances other than generic "high load" that trigger this behavior? nope! No idea what would cause it. So the simplest solution for me is to try the latest ver and see if the issue re-occurs. If it does then maybe Declude will help. If they don't and the bug persists I will revert to 2x. -Nick --Sandy Sanford Whiteman, Chief Technologist Broadleaf Systems, a division of Cypress Integrated Systems, Inc. e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] SpamAssassin plugs into Declude! http://www.imprimia.com/products/software/freeutils/SPAMC32/download/release/ Defuse Dictionary Attacks: Turn Exchange or IMail mailboxes into IMail Aliases! http://www.imprimia.com/products/software/freeutils/exchange2aliases/download/release/ http://www.imprimia.com/products/software/freeutils/ldap2aliases/download/release/ --- This E-mail came from the Declude.JunkMail mailing list. Now that I've installed 4.2.20, I'm getting a lot of messages in the error folder (I'm running SmarterMail 3.3.2369). Most of them seem to be spam, but there are some good messages in there. I have 9,000 messages from the past 48 hours or so in the error directory. We're also using SmarterMail. It look as though all of these have the word FAILED in the .hdr file. David said in a previous message, When they fail to complete the .hdr file they write Failed in the .hdr Can you clarify this a bit. Why is SmarterMAil failing to complete the .hdr file? The majority of these messages appear to be completely empty. It it safe to delete all of these? Before deleting these I'd like to understand exactly what is going on. Why the .hdr files are incomplete. What happens to these message if you are not running Declude? RE: [Declude.JunkMail] 4.2 build 20 Released 6 July 2006
We are running Imail 8.22. I did the upgrade on Saturday, so far no problems. I backed down from 4.2 b12 to 4.09 as I was getting email without declude adding header information, and I was not able to find any record in any declude log of the message being processed. So far I have not seen a similar situation with build 20. [Declude.JunkMail] Declude Security Suite in Add or Remove Programs
I just went into Add or Remove Programs under the Control Panel of my W2K3 server to remove something unrelated to Declude, and noticed that Declude Security Suite is listed there three times. When I click on Click here for support information for each entry, they give versions as follows: 4.02.0003, 4.02.0020, and 4.02.0012 respectively. Do I need to uninstall Declude every time I run an upgrade to 4.x? Doesn't Declude's installer detect these previous instances and correct for them? [Declude.JunkMail] Move Files (Free Utility For Imail/Declude Users)
Invariant Systems has released another useful free utility for IPSwitch Imail Users. Move Files is a utility that will move a number of Imail messages (Q*,D*) messages from a source directory to a destination directory on a timed basis. When you have a backup of your spool or Declude proc directory the first thing you do is move all of the messages out of those locations to restore normal mail flow. Previously you would hand move the messages back into the spool or Declude proc preventing another backup. Move Files helps by automating this task by moving a defined number of messages on a timed basis from a source folder to a destination folder. Oh, but the way, I am talking about Java. Every updated version installs itself without first uninstalling the previous version. I think the most I have found on a users computer was 5 versions. Well, you would think a big huge giant software company such as Sun Microsystems would create installers that would be intelligent enough to reconginze that there is a previous edition of the software being installed already installed and remove it first, but no it does not do that. But if it did, how would you deal with the dozens of commercial apps that require 5.0 and only 5.0, or 1.4.2 and only 1.4.2? The boondoggle of JRE compatibility never ceases to amaze. I think the fact that they don't uninstall older revs automatically is their admission that the compatibility situation is untenable otherwise.
