You didn't understand my sarcasm did you? I gave up w/Imail on fixing my imail webmail issues, on my servers, if there is more than 1000 messages in a mail box, users get Access Denied when going to different pages in there preview window. RE: [Declude.JunkMail] Blacklist Based on TO Address?
I don't see where you can do [TO] in the filters.. I will probably just filter by this header: X-Originating-IP: [98.130.1.155] , and add negative weight., I also have to remove whitelist from my gateway mail scanner, and create a rule, as IPBYPASS doesn't support Subnets. I must of forgot something, because I can't seem to understand any of the doc's on decludes website. Ie, In global.cfg: FILTER-MYFILTER filter d:\imail\declude\filters\myfilter.txt x y z What does column x, y, and z signify? and I assume in myfilter.txt Column #1 is Test Type? RE: [Declude.JunkMail] SORBS
Orbs was shutdown, and as of today, they are returning false positives on everything. At noon today (Eastern Standard Time), the long dead ORDB spam identification system began returning false positives as a way to get sleeping users to remove the ORDB query from their spam filters. The net effect: all mail is blocked on servers still configured to use the ORDB service, which was taken out of commission in December of 2006. So if you're not getting any mail, check your spam filter configuration! All four of those elements must exist in holistic harmony to empower your messages toward successful delivery. A common issue with virtual hosting environments is that different HELO hostnames are presented for the same source IP. By definition, only one of those hostnames can pass the round-trip test described above. I am not aware of ways to fix this problem within the current version of IMail; I know it can't be fixed within older versions. RE: Re[4]: [Declude.JunkMail] Yahoo.com Resources temporarily unavailable
Have you setup Reverse DNS on your DNS Servers? If so, Have them Delegate your subnet to your DNS Servers, this way You control the Reverse DNS for your IP Subnet. If not, Setup your Reverse DNS on your server, and have them Delegate the subnet. IF they will not delegate your subnet, then have them change the reverse DNS entries On there server, they will know what you want. If they don't, find a new Server Provider. 90% of the time ISP/Server Providers don't delegate Reverse DNS Records. And you normally Have to ask them to. -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Don Schreiner Sent: Tuesday, August 08, 2006 3:03 PM To: declude.junkmail@declude.com Subject: RE: Re[4]: [Declude.JunkMail] Yahoo.com Resources temporarily unavailable SpiderHost is our Data Center co-locator (Level3 facility). Re: [Declude.JunkMail] OT: Recommendations? Updgrading Equipment.
Becuase, I have to RD into the box, and manage 50 domains by editing the text files becuase ms dns doesn't allow wildcards., and if i need to edit an ip for all the domains, i have to stop the server, edit the zone files, the start the service. ms dns works fine if you have no issues editing the zone files one by one while your service is offline. - Original Message - From: Darin Cox [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: Declude.JunkMail@declude.com Sent: Wednesday, May 03, 2006 8:46 AM Subject: Re: [Declude.JunkMail] OT: Recommendations? So now, the thing is to just find or have someone write the script for you g. Ifyou standardized thelocation of the PST on every workstation, a simple bat file would do the trick. If the directory name is different on each workstation, then you would need to pass it a parameter to find the directory and echo the dir info to a network file. Heh..I"m working on the "get someone to write it for me" part, that would be my bosswho came up with this idea about the size monitoring of thepst files anyway. Thedirectory is the standard directory thatOutlooks installs all it's pst files, documents and settings/username/local settings/application data/ etcetc So,since everyone'suser name is different that wouldput it in a different directory.
Re: [Declude.JunkMail] IMail 8.02
There would be a main service thread witch would monitor the status off all the worker threads.. basically, if the design were kept the way it is now (ie, declude called on each delivery of a email) declude starts. , isolates email, create worker threads to perform tests.. (ie, while one thread can be performing dns tests, another could be doing sniffer, while another is virus actions) when each Worker thread is complete it can notify the parent thread. and threading is fun, you pretty much have everything in place to communicate back and forth between processes. allowing many instances of declude to talk to each other. - Original Message - From: Darin Cox [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: Declude.JunkMail@declude.com Sent: Wednesday, August 24, 2005 8:54 AM Subject: Re: [Declude.JunkMail] IMail 8.02 RSP ...allow E-mails that are being processed to communicate with one another Curious. Re: [Declude.JunkMail] WAY OT: Anti- Identity theft advice
Rebuttals in line.. (yeah, OT alright) - Original Message - From: Marc Catuogno [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: Declude.JunkMail@declude.com Sent: Thursday, July 07, 2005 10:25 AM Subject: [Declude.JunkMail] WAY OT: Anti- Identity theft advice I have a great deal of respect for the people on this list and I hope you don't feel this is a waste of time. I got this e-mail from one of my agents and I am going to share it with the entire company - I thought maybe some of you would care to do the same. I searched Hoasbusters.org first and called the numbers and they are legit. ATTORNEY'S ADVICE -- NO CHARGE Read this and make a copy for your files in case you need to refer to it someday. Maybe we should all take some of his advice! A corporate attorney sent the following out to the employees in his company 1. The next time you order checks have only your initials (instead of first name) and last name put on them. If someone takes your checkbook, they will not know if you sign your checks with just your initials or your first name, but your bank will know how you sign your checks. [Banks don't check the signature.. ] 2. Do not sign the back of your credit cards. Instead, put PHOTO ID REQUIRED. [Businesses can reject the card] 3. When you are writing checks to pay on your credit card accounts, DO NOT put the complete account number on the For line Instead, just put the last four numbers. The credit card company knows the rest of the number, and anyone who might be handling your check as it passes through all the check processing channels won't have access to it [I don't pay my bills via my checking account] 4. Put your work phone # on your checks instead of your home phone. If you have a PO Box use that instead of your home address. If you do not have a PO Box, use your work address. Never have your SS# printed on your checks. (DUH!) You can add it if it is necessary. But if you have it printed, anyone can get it. [some states use the SS as the driver's license #, also, use Cell # instead.] 5. Place the contents of your wallet on a photocopy machine. Do both sides of each license, credit card, etc. You will know what you had in your wallet and all of the account numbers and phone numbers to call and cancel. Keep the photocopy in a safe place. I also carry a photocopy of my passport when I travel either here or abroad. We've all heard horror stories about fraud that's committed on us in stealing a name, address, Social Security number, credit cards. [I never carry my SS card, just my DL and 1 CC, Nobody needs your SS card, there fore, you don't need to carry it!] +6. Shread your bills.. or keep them filed away in a secure place, leave your name out of your garbage! +7. Don't leave your name on your answering machine., better yet, use the Stock message +8 Don't answer any Surveys regarding how many household members, dogs, cats , or how many hours your family watches tvs, and or how many tvs you own, or computers etc to anybody over the phone, Unless its the US-Census sending you a Survery, you can't gaurrentee the person on the other line is a robber casing your house or a survey company.. (this goes for businnesses as well, Why would they need to know how many servers I own!, Query my Ins company, thats what there for.) +9 If you have a security camera system, don't leave the VCR/DVR in an easy to access location :-) Unfortunately, I, an attorney, have firsthand knowledge because my wallet was stolen last month. Within a week, the thieve(s) ordered an expensive monthly cell phone package, applied for a VISA credit card, had a credit line approved to buy a Gateway computer, received a PIN number from DMV to change my driving record information online, and more. But here's some critical information to limit the damage in case this happens to you or someone you know: 1. We have been told we should cancel our credit cards immediately. But the key is having the toll free numbers and your card numbers handy so you know whom to call. Keep those where you can find them. 2. File a police report immediately in the jurisdiction where your credit cards, etc., were stolen. This proves to credit providers you were diligent, and this is a first step toward an investigation (if there ever is one.) But here's what is perhaps most important of all : (I never even thought to do this.) 3. Call the 3 national credit reporting organizations immediately to place a fraud alert on your name and Social Security number. I had never heard of doing that until advised by a bank that called to tell me an application for credit was made over the Internet in my name. The alert means any company that checks your credit knows your information was stolen, and they have to contact you by phone to authorize new credit. By the time I was advised to do this, almost two weeks after the theft, all the damage had been done There are records of all the credit checks initiated by the thieves' purchases,

Andy, it depends on what you want to fix. I don't think that IMail 8.20 HF1 is cooked yet, and Bill Billman posted last Friday that there is certainly a problem with IMail 8.20 HF? and Declude, so I would stay away from that. http://www.mail-archive.com/declude.junkmail@declude.com/msg24792.html I would recommend that you go to the highest 8.1x that you can in order to get rid of problems. For example, I'm at 8.14 somethingorother which is the highest level that I needed. I want features that are in 8.20 but I'm not going there until I'm convinced that both Declude and IMail are very stable. Thanks Andrew. I was thinking that 8.2 wasn't ready yet either but there aren't really any features in 8.1x that I need besides the fact that they have a patch for the latest vulnerabilities. Is there a reason you decided not to go to 8.15 and stayed at 8.14? And have you had stability problems with the 8.1x line? Thanks. Andy --- This E-mail came from the Declude.JunkMail mailing list. How does SPF tell you that a rouge server is forging mail from one of your customers, if you server isn't receiving the forged mail? Re: [Declude.JunkMail] DNS SPF Record
As like anything, in order for SPF to work, everyone has to implement and use it. Ie, I got three "nasty" emails saying one of my users was sending them spam, and clearly it came from a remote server that was sending email using bogus senders, and if there servers properly used spf, it would of marked them or deleted them as spam. - Original Message - From: Kyle Fisher To: Declude.JunkMail@declude.com Sent: Monday, April 25, 2005 12:44 PM Subject: [Declude.JunkMail] DNS SPF Record Are most of you using a SPF record in your DNS? Re: [Declude.JunkMail] OT: WMI scripting DNS TXT problems
Do you have a copy of the script ? - Original Message - From: Daniel Grotjan [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: Declude.JunkMail@declude.com Sent: Thursday, April 21, 2005 9:07 AM Subject: Re: [Declude.JunkMail] OT: WMI scripting DNS TXT problems I already tried that. I should have elaborated more on what I have already tried. It does not seem to have anything to do with the quotes, because if I do this... objRR.CreateInstanceFromTextRepresentation CONST_SERVER, strZoneName, strZoneName IN TXT v=sp1, objOutParam I still get the line break at the end. That is with no quotes around the text string and no spaces in it. If I do the same with quotes, I get the same results. Re: [Declude.JunkMail] Interesting tactic..
Like a US law is gonna stop a spammer located in Hong Kong or Nigeria.. As far as I am concerned, if the From Address domain is not coming from the MX for that domain, I don't want the mail. However not everyone uses there MX for sending out the mail., this was the whole reason for SPF, but nobody has even set that up. If the domain doesn't exist, or does exists, dns servers are taxed probably the same amount.. regardless of domain existance. - Original Message - From: Dan Geiser [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: Declude.JunkMail@declude.com Sent: Tuesday, January 11, 2005 4:24 PM Subject: Re: [Declude.JunkMail] Interesting tactic.. Set up primary and secondary DNS servers on other boxes. Install the MSDNS service on your IMail server box, but do not touch the DNS service. In your IMail server's network properties, under DNS, enter the IPs of your DNS servers, and those of your upstream provider. Point Imail's DNS to 127.0.0.1 Disable caching and failed domain skipping in Imail. If you have the correct DNS settings in your DNS servers, you should have no problems. If anyone is interested, I have a well-worn script that interprets the boot file from an MSDNS primary and creates a boot file for another MSDNS server that sets it up as a secondary.
