Again a new thing? Isn't a good idea first to establish the group and

And can anyone explain me OpenUsability? Is it a collaberative tool that
Designers and Developer can work together?

OpenUsability.org is an not-for-profit organisation that aims at bringing
together uability experts with open source projects (and opening the process
of doing usability) - we just want to do some promotion to attract some more
experts to join our efforts on LibO.

So no tools - only marketing.

Oh, that would be just great! Thanks a lot!!!

In the meantime, I've started a wiki page to collect all the information
we'll work on. Maybe this will help for both us, and all the people
who'll join a bit later. More to come ...
http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Design/Kick-Off

Moreover, I thought a bit about the previous work at OpenOffice.org.
Personally, I'm sure that there is a lot information we might have some
benefit from ... but I'd like to hear your opinion, if you are
interested in such stuff.

Basically, I can provide some stories about our feature development (and
UX research), the procedures, the tools and the many ideas that are
already available in the OpenOffice.org wiki. And, I'd like to ask
Bernhard to summarize the branding and the artwork work (sounds somehow
funny...).

From my point-of-view, I'd like to put this is the wiki as well - let's
say a story each day (or two).

What do you think? (Especially Bernhard, since I didn't ask him in
advance *g*).

Cheers,
Christoph

Theis is the kind of things that we don't learn in highschool... :P

To be honest, great summary concerning the dialog

might stay or need tweaking (because of: constraints, use cases, ...),
but great start!
Thank you! I'm really excited to resume the progress in this topic, or

projects that we should get envolved from now, which are our priorities.
I'm begining to realise how things works better when we have goals

just a short status update concerning our kick-off. Due to the text

Cool, but there might also be a small project that might be interesting
for you - to be honest, it is about creating two graphics which will
help to resolve a recent issue in LibreOffice. Since you stated that you
love design, I thought it might just fit :-)

A few weeks ago, there has been a discussion on the dev list with some
developers. Kohei worked on improvements concerning the document is
changed status that is shown in the status bar ... instead of using the
ancient looking star (*), he used a graphic for that. Unfortunately,
this graphic caused to start a discussion ...

Might this be something for you? If yes, then please spend some time on
crawling the messages that have been linked ... At least, the chances
are very high to get that included in LibreOffice very very soon :-)

Cheers,
Christoph

Hi all,

I really enjoyed the today's introductions and discussions - and it
seems to me, that we start to feel like a real team. And, some people
offered help or already picked tough work items. This is just great, but
it also shows that we soon need some more information on what we want to
achieve, and how we will probably work together.

At the moment, many of the required information is either spread over
different mailing lists and wiki pages, hidden in people's heads, or not
yet available. Something to change? Yes, but only with you!

Since you've joined, you may know that one of the very first steps had
been to ask for a mailing list and draft a wiki page [1]. That time, it
had been decided to unify both Visual Design, and User Experience
related topics. So, currently we talk about ...

LibreOffice Design Team. Make it just work, and look great, too!

But where to start? Well, I drafted a proposal and I'd like to hear your
comments if this fits - in general. Details, e.g. how we solved this or
that within OpenOffice.org might be added later, I think.

But for now, please have a look at the list and add stuff you might to
see / talk about as well.

Steps:
  1. Invite people who want to join / listen via a blog posting and
on TDF discuss -- nobody should be missed
  2. Summarize the current status of work / collaboration within the
LibreOffice project -- get an overview what happened until now
  3. Do some introduction to get to know each other -- guess why :-)
  4. Collection of thoughts what we do need to organize / to do our
 work
  5. Working on the urgent needs of our current project -- e.g.
there have been requests to feed the development ;-)
  6. Planning how to collect and to prioritize the future tasks --
think about what we want to archive mid- and long-term
  7. Kick of one or more serious projects ...

Anything missing, misleading, or even wrong? Please raise your hand :-)
If you think it'll work, then we'll start.

What do you think?

See you,
Christoph
