[Bug 134846] akregator disables all video on Dell GX110
You have been subscribed to a public bug: On my Dell GX110 Small Form Factor machine on 6.10 Dapper Drake, opening a akregator feed in a tab in the internal browser that causes a notice about popup block options has caused the same problem three times (including once after the latest kdelib upgrade). The problem is complete loss of onboard video, including consoles. (The monitor has vertical bars, and then loses synch.) I can log in blindly and sudo shutdown -r, though. This seemed like an akregator issue, or possibly a quirk of the onboard video. But I've had no other obvious problems with video, and I spotted a word in syslog that seemed similar to something I saw in the description of kdelib changes, something about slaveio. Here's the segment of syslog that seems relevant: Aug 25 21:46:32 localhost -- MARK -- Aug 25 22:00:57 localhost gdm[4245]: Error reinitilizing server Aug 25 22:01:02 localhost gdm[6109]: gdm_slave_xioerror_handler: Fatal X error - Restart ing :0 Aug 25 22:01:07 localhost gdm[6123]: gdm_slave_xioerror_handler: Fatal X error - Restart ing :0 Aug 25 22:01:13 localhost gdm[6133]: gdm_slave_xioerror_handler: Fatal X error - Restart ing :0 Aug 25 22:01:13 localhost gdm[4220]: deal_with_x_crashes: Running the XKeepsCrashing scr ipt Aug 25 22:01:18 localhost pppd[5045]: Modem hangup Ideally, I think I'd like to adjust X files or something to be able to access whatever debug information akregator offers when this happens. Hello vista killer! I think there is a problem with the graphics driver, which is additional to the powernowd trigger responsible for the freezes. [Bug 130504] Re: window corrupted by size change
I use Ubuntu 7.04 (up-to-date). Another way to generate a similar problem. Go to this site http://www.rm.com/Support/ Copy the link address from 'How to install drivers ...' javascript:viewTechDoc('/Support/TechnicalArticle.asp?cref=TEC977590referrer=SupportHomenav=0'); and open the page. The page opens in a new window as shown in my attachment, openedlink.png The new window only shows the LHS of the page. If this procedure is done in Firefox the new window is automatically resized (tall and narrow) and shows the whole page. Epiphany fails to resize and so shows only the LHS of the page. My previous report had this happening in the same window when clicking a link on a google search page. It didn't seem to find the page when I tried it again. ** Attachment added: openedlink.png http://launchpadlibrarian.net/9000335/openedlink.png -- window corrupted by size change https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/130504 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 89660] Re: control-cursor-key regression in vim
Wow, as a brand new Ubuntu user coming over as a long time ~Red Hat user, this is my first negative impression. I install 7.04 flawlessly in less than hour. Very, very happy. I manually install very easily a bunch of other packages I need for both work and play in maybe another hour. I am really, really happy at this point. I then start the fine-tuning and spend maybe *six hours* to find a steenkin terminal app that works properly and that I like (has to have tabs)! ( I spend hours each day having to work via terminals connecting remotely.) Then I find this is a known issue for six months or so. Not very happy, to say the least. While apparently this is 'low priority' to gnome, fedora or ubuntu developers, it is hugely important to those who have to use terminal applications and editors like vim. .02, and I wish I knew more about apt so I get past this one. Having spent many years using multi-gnome- terminal and its little brother gnome-terminal, I guess my only choice is mrxvt. They seem like they might take this kind of thing seriously. Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Unfortunately we can't fix it, because your description didn't include enough information. Furthermore 1. Please try to run 'sudo dpkg --configure -a' in a terminal window before reporting errors. 2. Where is this Limewire P2P. I wonder if it is an official / supported package. We'd be grateful if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem. We have instructions on debugging some types of problems. [WWW] http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures At a minimum, we need: 1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the problem, 2. the behavior you expected, and 3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible). [Bug 134911] [gutsy] Screen resolutions other than current are not listed
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-control-center In the Screen Resolution applet, no resolution other than the current is listed. This happens on my PC using the nvidia proprietary driver, and the source code indicates that it should be happening for everyone. for (i = 0; i screen_info-n_sizes; i++) { .. //if (i == current_size || show_resolution (sizes[i].width, sizes[i].height)) if (((sizes[i].width 0) (sizes[i].height 0)) (show_resolution (sizes[i].width, sizes[i].height))) .. } The if statement is checking if one of the resolutions is the current, which doesn't make any sense. *All* modes should be added to the list, not the current. The new if posted above fixes this problem. Another interesting thing is that i == current_size is checked within the original clause, which obviously does not need to be done if i == current_size was already checked. So, something was obviously overlooked here. .. if (i == current_size) current_item = item; Since (i == current_size) is not checked in the patched clause, we should leave it here because it does serve its intended purpose now (to select the user's current resolution out of the long list of ALL resolutions). Public bug reported: Binary package hint: eog if open eog from the command line within an images directory and open an image from there, doesn't show anything in the main window, but show the image preview in the window manager top bar and from the properties window of the image. steps to reproduce: 1.- open a xterm 2.- go to a directory which contains images 3.- open eog without parameter from the command line 4.- go to File - Open and select the first image, you'll notice that doesn't show the image, but in the top bar on the left of the window manager show a small preview of the image. 5.- go to File - Properties and you'll be able to see the image preview and info. this happens to me under gutsy installed from tribe 4, with all updates to the date. eog2.19.5-0ubuntu1 ** Affects: eog (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- [gutsy] eog doesn't show current directory images https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/134934 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug contact for eog in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 80343] Re: invisible logout dialog with xcompmgr
Confirmed on Ubuntu Gutsy with Gnome 2.19.6 Only workaround I've found is to set export LTSP_CLIENT=1 in .gnomerc but this IS NOT a solution because it leads to many other inconveniences, such as no eject or unmount options on the removable media's icons...
