Thanks, but I don't seem to have editing privileges either, and need to

I have created a Release notes page from our Release Notes template

Thanks

I have checked the permissions on your cwiki account and you have

I look at

and don't see any option to edit, other than the Firefox edit menu.

RE: Editing the release notes wiki

2016-09-26 Thread Dennis E. Hamilton
You usually make a request on doc@ or here on dev@, giving the user name you
have on the CWiki, and one of the administrators will give you the karma. I
know Keith was doing that for folks who wanted to work on documentation.

According to the record we have for such things, Andrea and Dave Fisher can
also do it.

I've been puzzling about the folder names. Let me test my understanding.

If all of the dev/openoffice/4.1.3/ files being uploaded become RC1, will it be
by renaming the folder (e.g., from 4.1.3 to 4.1.3-rc1) without changing
anything in the folders? (The files have the name they will have if they
become the release - no rc* in the file naming inside the release-candidate
folder.)

That seems to be how folders were named with the rc number in the past. When
an rc* passes a release vote, that folder is moved to release/openoffice/4.1.3
(without the -rc* suffix) and we are good to go.

Is that the plan?

The name of a folder is something trivial and meaningless to discuss;
once all packages are uploaded it is just a svn mv, so there is no point
to waste time on this topic right now.

It needed to either be dealt with a few days ago, or wait until the
uploading is done. At this point, wait until uploading is done.

Sure, that's possible. Butit could be also that a mirror is temporary
not available or the Internet connection to/from this mirror is
momentarily faulty. In this case you can try again later or use manually
a different mirror server. The following link is using the service

be dangerous.

This is a "reputation" warning by Internet Explorer, other browsers, and
anti-malware software. It is expected that these files have no meaningful
reputation while in the developer-download state.

It is appropriate to do three things:

 1. Ignore the warning.

 2. Then download the .asc, .md5, and .sha256 files and use them to verify the
corresponding .exe that you download.

 3. After whatever testing you do with these, do not retain the files on your
system if these do not become the release candidate that is approved for
general distribution. That's important. Otherwise, any bugs you might detect
later will not be against the official release and it is confusing because the
filenames will not change.

The name of a folder is something trivial and meaningless to discuss;
once all packages are uploaded it is just a svn mv, so there is no point
to waste time on this topic right now.

Question: Naming the dev/openoffice/4.1.3 folders

2016-09-26 Thread Dennis E. Hamilton

Install java JRE 8U101

activate JavaRe
start Base creating a new database

it wants to connect to a Java 6 version.

Re: Request for Nofollow or Removal of Links to My Site at Openoffice

2016-09-26 Thread Dave Brondsema
Hi,

Short answer: we'll take a look and see what we can do.

For reference, the Templates site is managed through the
https://sourceforge.net/projects/aoo-templates/ project on SourceForge. Web
hosting documentation here:
https://sourceforge.net/p/forge/documentation/Project%20Web%20Services/ Gav and
Andrea Pescetti ("aooadmin") have access to the project, and we can add more.
Similarly the extensions site is run through the "aoo-extensions" project with
same admins plus Roberto too. I don't see an OOOUSERS wiki page documenting
this, perhaps I can create one soon.

I do see quite a bit of spam and blank/forbidden items on the templates site, so
it does need some cleanup for sure.

We do have some Drupal experience inhouse at SourceForge, I can talk with our
team and see how soon we can get in there and address this formsbirds.com
request, as well as maybe a bit more cleanup.

Andrea, if you're reading this, do you have any pointers regarding the
administration of the extensions/templates? I think you've done most of the
work on them in the past. Our in-house guys can probably help out but aren't
familiar with the specifics of these sites at all.

The final serial comma is generally preferred in US English, which is
the dialect in which I intended to write the release notes. See

A 4.1.2 regression, https://bz.apache.org/ooo/show_bug.cgi?id=126622,
Base 4.1.2 does not open Tables and Queries in Mac OSX, does not

I should be consistent on whether to quote the Bugzilla titles, but
there is a good case for quoting them. I'll consider that, and look at
it both ways, when I do the formatted version for the Wiki.

IMHO Ariel should/could tell us what he has done with his Mac builds as
the first positive verifications came with his builds [1]. I really hope
he can. ;-)

Empirically, it does not reproduce in 4.1.3. Do we have a definite patch
for it? Should I list it in the 4.1.3 release notes as having been fixed.

It depends on Ariel. If a fix is not known, then IMHO it's difficult to
mark it this way when you cannot tell what was done. "Doesn't happen
anymore" sounds better in the case that the fix is not known.
