Re: [DQSD-Users] The (errant) history of DQSD

Yeah, this is where we have some problem, and I'm not sure we can help it.
I think closing the toolbar does not automatically unload the DLL for a
variety of reasons and I'm not sure there's a documented way to force it.
For some reason, the uninstall/install combo does not properly update the
DQSDTools.dll, presumably because it's still locked by explorer.exe. As
far as I know, the only safe way to make it work is to reboot after
uninstalling DQSD, which should force the DLL to be writable. Sorry about
 the hassle, - Kim
DQSD uses NSIS right? Which version does it use? According to the following
links, with 2.01, there's a Library Installation System which is supposed to
take care of DLLs in use. So this may be a matter of updating the installation
scripts:

http://nsis.sourceforge.net/What_is_the_best_way_to_upgrade_a_%28system%29_DLL_file
http://nsis.sourceforge.net/Docs/AppendixB.html

Thanks,

 Ozgur

As usual, you are correct. Removed the registry hack, and things

Great!

..and, for the record, I was a good boy -- I actually closed the
toolbar before I chose to 'uninstall software' from the control panel,
so it _shouldn't_ have been resident in memory during the uninstall
 process. :)

Thanks for the reply -- I hadn't seen the earlier message in the
list. uninstall/reboot/reinstall/reboot seems to have done the trick
here, as well. Thanks again. :)

Try ditching the registry hacks now as well, that should definitely not
be necessary.

It seems the problem is that the old DQSD isn't properly unloaded, and
enters into some kind of conflict with the new one -- my guess is that
you were actually seeing DQSD 3.1.9.2 in your taskbar when you got the
security warning.

I'm on the road so I won't be replying regularly, but I thought I'd post
my hunch...

Cheers,
