Re: [Dspace-tech] Ldap Authentification and profile
Hi Stefanie, I tried reproducing the problem with nulls but couldn't, neither with flat nor hierarchical LDAP. The only thing that I see potentially wrong with your config is that you set email_field = mail, while it needs to be email_field = uid. This is an unfortunate assumption of the DSpace authn system (login=email) that doesn't sit well with LDAP, but fixing it would be quite an extensive change, so try this workaround for now. The consequence is that your LDAP users won't have a valid email address in DSpace, so subscriptions won't work for them. It should be the same, I just want to confirm it. Any chance to get the fields surname_field =sn, givenname_field =givenName, phone_field =telephoneNumber and mail? I've seen a situation where there was a null appended to the value of these fields but I'm not sure I've heard of a situation where they would be empty (it certainly works for me). If you bind with LDAP with the same user you're trying to log in to DSpace with, does that user see these attributes? My thinking here is that this might be a problem with your LDAP setup, not in DSpace. Topics to include: Collection templates: pre-filling certain metadata fields on a per collection basis. Reviewer only fields: option to qualify fields in input forms to have them only visible for reviewers in the workflow Type based submission: inclusion of certain metadata fields in the form, based on a selected submission type Modifying your lists of dropdown values (the lists that are included at the bottom of input-forms.xml) Working with hierarchical controlled vocabularies (the XML based subject categories) Enabling LC Name authority control for author values Collection based Input forms: duplicating an input-forms configuration showing the match between an input-forms config and a collection Simple embargo private item state Breaking down barriers: This is your community, here's how to participate!, Presented by Hardy Pottinger, University of Missouri If you are new to community-driven open source software development, you may experience barriers to participation. This spirited and opinionated talk will provide an overview of how community-driven open source software projects work. You will be challenged to participate in the community in ways you may have thought were not available to you. Traditional development tools and practices will be faced off against more modern approaches. Re: [Dspace-tech] Ldap Authentification and profile
Hi All, I am using Windows Active Directory to validate user in Dspace versions 1.8, 3.1 and 3.2 and it works fine. I use a special bind user account to validate users in AD. When user is new it create, Dspace creates the account using the email so the user can receive alerts and notifications. I proof this in Dspace 4.0 and the results are different, if user is new the account in Dspace is created with the uid instead of email and the email was lost, so the user cannot receive alerts and notifications. The authenticate-ldap.conf file is the same for all installations. Is this a change direction in Dspace 4.0 to validate users using LDAP? I appreciate your help to solve this problem in Dspace 4.0 Cheers, Ing. If this is the case, it might be worked around using the initial bind (with a user who has access to these attributes). Re: [Dspace-tech] Ldap Authentification and profile
The difference between AD and other LDAP servers is that AD uses an email address format for username, while others usually don't. In DSpace, this is configured using netid_email_domain (e.g. @netid_email_domain = example.com) which is then appended to netid (so in this case email is not taken from an LDAP attribute) to form the email address that DSpace uses as username. It's quite difficult to test all the possible configurations. You fix one thing, some other configuration breaks... and if you can't test that configuration, it's a problem. Re: [Dspace-tech] ordering community page and recent submssions
This is just a guess, but I suspect this may be happening because the Recent Submissions list is actually generated by Discovery. So, if you reorder Discovery to be listed as the *first* Aspect, then it's also going to cause the Recent Submissions list to appear near the top of the page. A few possible ways around this would be to do something like this: First, you'd need to revert your changes to xmlui.xconf, and put Discovery back to where it is by default. [Option #1] You may be able to tweak the Mirage Theme to just reorder the options how you want them to be. I've not tried this, admittedly. By default though, Mirage just orders the options in the order they appear (by calling apply-templates): https://github.com/DSpace/DSpace/blob/master/dspace-xmlui/src/main/webapp/themes/Mirage/lib/xsl/core/navigation.xsl#L131 However, it might be possible to replace this generic apply-templates call with several calls to reorder the options..something like: !-- FIRST, select the list.discovery option-- xsl:apply-templates select=list[@id='aspect.discovery.Navigation.list.discovery']/ !-- THEN, select anything that is NOT list.discovery option-- xsl:apply-templates select=list[@id!='aspect.discovery.Navigation.list.discovery']/ Again, I've never tried this before, but it seems like it should work [Option #2] Or, possibly create your own XSLT-based custom Aspect which would then reorder the final XML (DRI) options list, and make the Discovery list entries appear where ever you want them to. You'd need this custom Aspect to be listed *last* as it will just be in charge of restructuring the options menu. Unfortunately, I don't know the exact code here, but there's a basic example of an XSLT-based custom Aspect in my old presentation Making DSpace XMLUI Your Own (see slides 58-63). http://www.slideshare.net/tdonohue/making-dspace-xmlui-your-own The concept is that you want to create an XSLT which takes in the final XML and just rearranges the list entries under options, so that they appear in the order you want them to appear. That way, when your theme is applied, the ordering of the menu options is how you want it. -- Hopefully one of those two options will help. Those are my best guesses! If anyone else has gotten this to work, please let us know what does work! - Tim On 2/19/2014 3:37 AM, Webshet, Sisay (ILRI) wrote: Yea, This is what Iam referring to how ever in mycase. [Dspace-tech] replace a bitstream
One of our users has loaded an item with one bitstream. He would like to replace the bitstream to be able to use the same url as the existing bitstream. I see that if I delete the bitstream and add a new one, the sequence_id number is increased and the url changes, so I would like to issue a sql command to change the sequence_id in bitstream table to the old sequence_id so the url stays the same. I have tried this in my development environment, and it worked fine. From looking at the code I don't think this will screw up discovery or lucene indexing ( I don't see sequence_id being used there), so I think it is safe to do this. I just want to make sure before I do this in production. We don't expect this to happen again, and want to accommodate this user.
