You should just copy the contents of [dspace]/webapps/ into [tomcat]/webapps/ (Not into the *ROOT* directory -- that's just tomcat's name for the default web application). So, your [tomcat]/webapps/ directory should end up looking somewhat similar to this: [tomcat]/webapps/ jspui/ lni/ oai/ solr/ sword/ xmlui/ docs/ examples/ manager/ ROOT/ The first 6 directories above are all copied over from [dspace]/webapps/ (or you can just copy over the exact ones you want to use in your DSpace install). The last 4 (docs, examples, manager, ROOT) are commonly provided by Tomcat (they may differ slightly, but it doesn't matter -- DSpace doesn't need them to even be there). Since this doesn't seem to be working right for you, can you check to see if there are any errors reported in your logs? [Dspace-tech] Problem installing 1.7
Clean install of Dspace 1.7 Ubuntu 9.10 Postgresql 8.4 Tomcat 6 Carried out the installation instructions. Everything seemed to go smoothly. No errors and installation completed successfully. Now when I test Tomcat it tells me it is working but when I try to go to xmlui I get the Status 404 error saying The requested resource (/xmlui/ is not available. I did have one area of confusion in the installation instructions. In the Deploy Web Applications it gives the line cp -R [dspace]/webapps/* [tomcat]/webapps* However, on the Ubuntu installation of Tomcat6 there is a directory labeled ROOT inside the webapps directory so I wasn't sure whether to copy the dspace webapps stuff to just the tomcat webapps directory or put it inside the directory labeled ROOT. I tried both and neither seemed to work. Any suggestions or guidance would be greatly appreciated. Jon, If you receive responses I'd love to hear them as well. Use of mysql is something a number of us have been desiring for quite some time with seemingly very little responsiveness. -Original Message- From: Jonathan Roby [mailto:ro...@cc.umanitoba.ca] Sent: Monday, November 08, 2010 1:01 PM To: dspace-tech@lists.sourceforge.net Subject: [Dspace-tech] mysql for v1.6.2 Hi list, we're upgrading to dspace version 1.6.2 and we'd like to use mysql as the database solution. I've been performing some research and it looks like there was a mysql patch some time ago, but it wasn't official and died a death. Has anyone else managed to make a mysql abstraction for dspace? would you be willnig to share? if not, could someone point me in the right direction for writing our own and would anyone like to collaborate?? thanks, jon. -- +=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+= Jonathan Roby Digital Collections Developer Elizabeth Dafoe Library University of Manitoba Winnipeg, Manitoba R3T 2N2 VM: (204) 474-7053 Fax: (204) 474-7597 +=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+=+= -- The Next 800 Companies to Lead America's Growth: New Video Whitepaper David G. [Dspace-tech] Re-compiling Dspace
We are running version 1.4.2 and are in the process of migrating from one machine to another. How do I recompile Dspace? In the original installation instructions I did ant fresh install. To recompile do I simply do ant install? Also I will need to re-index my database. Any guidance would be appreciated. Re: [Dspace-tech] Can you upgrade directly from DSpace 1.4.2 to 1.5.1 without first installing 1.5?
A somewhat related question I hope... If I want to move from a server that currently is running 1.4.2 to a new server would the best approach be to install a clean 1.5.1 on the new server and then move the data over? If so, are there instructions for how to migrate content from a 1.4.2 instance to a 1.5.1 instance? -Original Message- From: Tim Donohue [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Friday, November 21, 2008 11:25 AM To: Thornton, Susan M. (LARC-B702)[NCI INFORMATION SYSTEMS] Cc: dspace-tech@lists.sourceforge.net Subject: Re: [Dspace-tech] Can you upgrade directly from DSpace 1.4.2 to 1.5.1 without first installing 1.5? Sue, You should be able to upgrade from 1.4.2 to 1.5.1, assuming you make sure to perform all of the 1.5.x database upgrades. So, even though you are upgrading to 1.5.1, make sure to *first* perform the upgrade steps laid out for 1.4.2-1.5.0. For DSpace, we make it a point that minor upgrades (1.5.0-1.5.1) only involve code changes (i.e. the database structure will never change during these upgrades). Major upgrades (e.g. 1.4.2-1.5.0) will often involve changes to the database structure. Hope that helps, - Tim Thornton, Susan M.
