[Dspace-tech] Importing Items via BibTex in 3.2
Dear all, I am trying to import a bunch of works through a bibtex file, using this feature: https://jira.duraspace.org/browse/DS-1226 However, I end up with items with names Untitled and no metadata whatsoever. I am not sure what I did wrong in the process, as I made sure all the parameters and input file were valid. Can anyone please assist me in batch importing using bibtex? Hi Sean, I don't know, it seems like an issue with mapping BibTex fields to DSpace DC fields. Maybe the documentation will help: https://wiki.duraspace.org/display/DSDOC3x/Importing+Items+via+basic+bibliographic+formats+%28Endnote%2C+BibTex%2C+RIS%2C+TSV%2C+CSV%29 If not, Kostas should be able to answer this. Take a look at this link: https://wiki.duraspace.org/pages/viewpage.action?pageId=32481931 You can export your endnote library in the specified formats (like RIS http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RIS_(file_format)) and then load it to DSpace, but again, attached PDFs will not be loaded. We are in the process of extending the BTE functionality, thus, the case of importing directly endnote libraries would be a good example of extension. In the aforementioned link, you can find information on how you can extend the BTE functionality by adding a new DataLoader (i.e. For endnote library) or a new OutputGenerator (i.e to export files). However, this procedure needs programmatic skills. Re: [Dspace-tech] Importing items
The first thing I'd look for is a directory in the current assetstore which has incorrect ownership or (less likely) permissions. We should enhance BitstreamStorageManager to catch IOException and wrap it in an Exception which states what path we were trying to open. That's a problem we have quite a lot: DSpace knows the context of a failure coming up from the JRE but keeps the knowledge to itself. -- Mark H.
