Jim I just re-downloaded 6.02 and transferred over the log and all works
fine now. So guess I am using the old CTY file that is part of the
download.

I'm afraid we'll need Paul's help to solve this one.

[Dx4win] I'm sure I'm not the first...

2003-09-22 Thread Dick Flanagan
I'm sure I'm not the first to get a vanity call sign while having a ton of
logged entries under another (same QTH, just different call sign).

I have thousands of QSOs logged under W6OLD and now I need to start keeping
track of QSOs under K7VC.

I am reluctant to just start adding new QSOs as K7VC to my existing log,
but I don't want to lose my hard-earned award progress, either. What is
the best way to approach this?

Also, do I need to obtain new DX4WIN registration info for my new call
sign? (I've paid for V6 registration, even though I'm still using 5.03.)

Thanks for all advice.

[Dx4win] Filtering by date range?

2003-09-22 Thread [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Barry,

You'll need to use the Groups and Selection options. Once you identify the
name, e.g. W2UP/2 VHF Rover EM19, or something, you can then filter with both a
beginning and ending date. From that point on, should you ever go back to
the same location, all you need do is select Group 2 or Group 4 as the
logging default, new QSOs will be added properly, etc. (Don't forget to go
back to
the home QTH group, when appropriate.) I just got done doing the same thing
for 7 different QTHs so that my LoTW entries credit for the proper state. I
decided NOT to take my log down to the county level, however.

GL,
Steve

Use groups functionality for the multiple callsigns...

I currently use groups to identify particular contests, but I guess I can
start all new groups at 100 to indicate the new call sign.

Thanks for the pointer.

I believe you do need a new registration file E-mail directly to
 Steve or Paul for that.

Will do. Thanks.

[Dx4win] More LOTW info

Yes, TQSL is slow.

Couple of things.

First, the site is having problems with large uploads. Plus although there
aren't that many records coming in it seems slow. Unless you're into
watching your results immediately you can save some aggravation by emailing
the files.

Second, there is a new version of Trusted QSL -- v1.07. If you're going to
request additional certificates you'll need it.

I've upload 28k+ records and already have a bunch of QSL's. Seems to be
working great.

I am in the process of using TQSL to convert the logs for upload for
LOTW. TQSL also includes a date range filter, so you can exclude QSOs
from before and after specified dates from the ADIF or Cabrillo file,
if you didn't do it in your export from DX4WIN.

Another note - warning of sorts: TQSL is VERY slow. My machine is a
Dell P4 2.2 Ghz and it's converting at about 20 QSOs/second. The
current selection I'm converting contains 82K QSOs, so it's going to
be a while. If you have a big log and/or a slow computer, you may
want to run it overnight.

Yes, absolutely. during the beta test I submitted ADIF-based files for my
1998, 1999, 2000, 2001 and 2002 QSOs. I think you'll find that if you
specify a start date the program asks you for an end date as the next step
in the process.

The World HF Contest Station Database was updated August 30.
129 stations were added or updated.

Obviously Barry managed to upload his logs. My QSL total just jumped from
about 60 to 90 -- all W2UP.

Mike,
Thanks for saving me from wasting my time by requesting a new certificate.

I've been trying to submit certificate requests for my old callsign but
was getting my password rejected while trying to sign the certificate
requests - I figured I fat-fingered the password but 1.07 fixed the
problem.

If you're going to ask for certs for old callsigns or for portable
operations, get the new software!
