[Dx4win] CW Interface

2020-01-03 Thread Bert Garcia
For John W9RPM -- Serial port adapters are not easy to find these days.

I found several USB CW keying cables on Amazon. Search for 'PC Morse to
Radio'.
https://www.amazon.com/U-CW-6-5mm-Cable-Morse-Radio/dp/B00EZIAESQ.
https://www.amazon.com/U-CW-3-5mm-Cable-Morse-Radio/dp/B00EZI7J20

Search for 'PC Morse to Radio' on Ebay to find more cables.

Anyone have a rig file for the FT991A. Was surprised it wasn't listed.

Re: [Dx4win] Submission Report Only Empty

2020-01-03 Thread Jim
Paul

What you explained certainly does work.

However, what I was looking for in the Submission Report Only function was a
display of all possible eligible QSLs without updating the Award Flag to
Submitted.

For example, say I want to have DX4WIN identify WAZ 20M LOTW CW QSLs so I can
compare to the ARRL Lotw selection. I make the appropriate actions:

Report/Action-Submission

Submission Medium- LOTW

Mode – CW

Band -20

Then I check Submission Report Only expecting to see those entries that could
be flagged as submitted if I ran the selection without checking Submission
Report Only.

I get only the empty browser with the column titles. If I don’t select
Submission Report only, things are normal and I get the desired listing and the
Submitted flag is set on all the selected QSLs. But not wanting to have these
set until I have had a chance to compare to LOTW, I need to exit DX4WIN without
Saving.

The way you describe the Submission Report Only function is that it is there as
an “after the fact” feature. That is, it is to display all the previously
Submitted (and not Checked) entries on file. Perhaps as a way to compare to
what may have been accepted by an award sponsor.

If this is the design then I’m okay with it

Jim,

Do a submission and save your log using a temporary name.

Open that new log (should not make a difference; just to make sure)

Do submission again but check the box to see existing submissions.

A submission report will not show entries that have been "Checked";

does that explain what you observe?

I am at DX4WIN 9.09.1259

This had been working ok in previous version.

 Hi Jim and Tim,
I've got it working!Started Win 0 Properties/Display and moved laptop above
large screen display. Click on Apply, and myWorld Map was there in the Laptop
screen. Then dragged map to the main Large screen, resized it . Then In Win10
Display properties brought Laptop screen again left of the Large screen,
applied and then moved all DX4WIN windows back to the Laptop screen where I
wish to use it. Then after adjusting size of all dx4w windows, clicked on
Refresh and now all is as I wanted!

find the map portion of the configuration and try setting the top and left

window and packet window, this trick did not work, and the only thing that
worked for me was to put the monitors back in their original configuration and
then I physically moved the windows to where I could see them again in the new

Re: [Dx4win] Country editor not available?

2020-01-03 Thread Mike Cizek W0VTT
Hello Bernie,

That's correct, they are no longer able to be edited by users. AD1C keeps
them up to date so there is really no need for us to do it. Just use Help >
Check for Updates in the main menu bar.

Re: [Dx4win] Fwd: DX4WIN V9 license for AK1MD

2020-01-03 Thread Alexander Kopp MD
Thank you Mike,
I made a new folder on my desktop and placed everything from dx4win in that new
folder. Is this correct?
I’m disappointed that Yaesu FTDX 5000 is not in Dx4win. This is not a new
radio. It has been around for a while.
Does anybody know if the 3000 is in dx4win as placeholder for all Yaesus or was
5000 left out?
Thank you,
73, Alex AK1MD

Re: [Dx4win] Fwd: DX4WIN V9 license for AK1MD

2020-01-03 Thread Mike Cizek W0VTT
Hello Alex,

Best way to install dx4win is to follow Paul's instructions :-) Do NOT
install it in the Program Files or Program Files(x86) directories. Best to
use either the root directory (c:\) or a special directory for radio
programs.

Try the FTDX3000; they probably look about the same to logging programs.

DXspots.com is already in the database:
AE5E>Thief River Falls-MN,dxspots.com:7300
Just highlight it and click OK.
Do any of the DX clusters work? Try one of the other clusters already
installed in the program to make sure your settings are correct. There may
be a problem with AE5E.

Is it possible that you clicked on "Confirm eQSL using ADIF File" instead of

[Dx4win] eQSL confirmation instead of LOTW

2020-01-03 Thread Tom Hammond
Greetings,

I downloaded new LOTW confirmations today (81 of them), saved to an .adi file,
then used that file to confirm QSO’s in my log. After importing these
confirmations I noticed that the state and county was updated but not the LOTW
confirmed flag, rather the eQSL flag was changed to Y. I’ve never uploaded to
eQSL and don’t use that method to QSL. I filtered the Q’s that had an eQSL flag
of Y and manually changed to LOTW flag to Y. I’m just wondering why this
happened. Any thoughts? I’m okay with “operator error” but I’d like to know
what I did wrong so I never do it again!

73, Tom

Re: [Dx4win] Mailing list submission

2020-01-03 Thread Kostas SV1DPI
First be sure that in file>preferences>Ext Data under Data Source is QRZ
Online selected. If yes be sure that in the last section "Online
callsign lookup" is enabled and in 1st row writes something like

http://xmldata.qrz.com/xml/current/?username=[USERNAME];password=[PASSWORD];agent=[PROGRAM]

If this is ok, it seems that the window is outside your screen limits.
Go to file>preferences>Screen and put a smaller number in scale factor
(the smaller nr you can write is 50 but be careful because letters will
be too small to recognise and come back). Search if the window is now in
your screen limits, pressing f3.

Thanks for the reply to this question and to everyone that contributed.

I realise that ALT+F3 will update the external data (QRZ). The original post
from Arthur Caswell was asking if it is possible to update this automatically
without hitting Alt+F3 (I think). It seems that this is not possible. I have
tried what you suggest Jim but cannot find the automatic update box to check.
Which window is this on?
I have entered a call sign in the real time box on the QSO window and then
pressed Alt+F3 and the QRZ window initiates with the call sign details of the
station entered. Where is the box to check for automatic update?

But the very first time you do this (ever), right-click on the
Callsign/Mgr Lookup (F3) window and make sure that the Automatic Update

scroll through your log, as well as update when you are entering a new
QSO. Once you check this setting, you'll never have to do it again.

Running Submission Report Only for any of the Awards results in no records
selected and an empty browser with just the column titles. So my only option
to review submission status has been to run full submission which does
produce the desired listing and then exit out of DX4WIN without saving.

I am at DX4WIN 9.09.1259
