Re: [Dx4win] windows 7
William, For me DX4WIN works great with my Asus 64bit with Windows 7 Professional. My Asus has two discs. Standard C and solid state D. My DX4WIN is installed on D:\Program Files\dx4w804 I think it will be better to use the C:\Program Files (x86) directory for DX4WIN. The reason - much simple installation. I´am using two radios. First Radio 1 as local, the second Radio 2 remotely controlled. Antenna Rotator, RTTY, PSK31, CW nad RTTY keying works OK. Only one problem I have is that DX4WIN can´t identify the right radio for CW keying. The reason - LPT port is missing on (not only my) notebook. DX4WIN use LPT port for Radio 1 / Radio 2 signal. 73, Milan Date: Mon, 20 Dec 2010 18:46:49 -0600 From: William Osbornewosborn...@gmail.com Subject: [Dx4win] windows 7 To:Dx4win@mailman.qth.net Message-ID:001501cba0a8$8e239e80$aa6adb...@com Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii I have been watching the Win7 comments on this list, but I wonder if anyone has Win7 working correctly including holding window sizes/positions between sessions? [Dx4win] Contest capabilities.
Mel, Yes, the contester need the special SW. But the casual operator would like to take part in a contest, too. Casual operator give to contesters the points. That means he need to send and receive the RST or RS and the contest number or a contest code. Test please a CW contest with dx4win. My the ONLY problem of dx4win is that when I'am using the CW keyboard window so I must switch with Alt+K shortcut to the main window for write the codes to the CALL or Recvd or Notes lines. And again Alt+K shortcut back. And again and again. Or a trick exists? Who know any? For me the best and simplest solution would be to have the chance to activate the copy of the Callsign, rstS, rstR, Recvd (or other) field as a part of the CW Keyboard window. Enough place is there. The big grey useless zone is there. It will be great. Easy? I think yes. Then the casual contester will be satisfied too. Hi, I have another 6.02 version problem. In my log (contains over 16.000 QSO) I see I never worked SV/A on 160m. (No RTTY, NO CW, NO PHONE) The DX spot announce SY8A and 6.02 counts it for SY/A with priority 3. I make this PHONE QSO with SY8A and store it as SV/A (with ENTER). I found that SY8A is not a SV/A - Mt.Athos but SV - Greece. I overwrite the Prefix value of this QSO from the Prefix SV/A to Prefix SV and store it. The priority of SY8A in the DX spots window change from 3 to 5. But this is for sure wrong because SV (Greece) I have C - confirmed on CW and PHONE. After storing of another QSO (with IT9EQO) I see that the SY8A Priority in the DX spots window change now the priority 5 to priority 7 ! [Dx4win] rst in new versiin 6
Hello all, the MS (Meteor Scatter) procedure has two report systems. The standard MS report could be in two formats - first the format, described by PA9KT - second the (R-number-number) format which is used when the complete report is received first and the own report is'nt given before R27 R37 R28 etc.etc. For AURORA QSO is the standard Report in the form RS and the letter A for AURORA. 55A 57A 59A etc. (exatly 3 signs for CW and for SSB too)! This is the practical finding - in former times I'am WKD over 1500 MS and Aurora QSO's 73 Milan, OK1FM Milan GÜTTER http://www.ok1fm.com E-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] ** From: Timon PA9KT [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: Paul van der Eijk [EMAIL PROTECTED], dx4win@mailman.qth.net Date: Sat, 18 Jan 2003 23:43:51 - Subject: [Dx4win] rst in new versiin 6 Hello all For the new version of dx4win i would like to have some more report posibilities. In vhf we use other rst as on hf. Aspecially for mounbounce aurora and meteoorscatter work. In vhf there are a few technikes with there own reports. In eme (mounbouce) the normal reports 51 till 59 ssb or 519 til 599 cw are posible. But the most given report is the O report. Witch says it is to weak for 51 but al details are received. In meteroorscatter we use the following system: Reporting system The report consists of two numbers: First number Burst duration Second number Signal strength 2 up to 5 sec 6 up to S3 3 5 - 20 sec 7 S4, S5 4 20 - 120 sec 8 S6, S7 5 longer than 120 sec 9 S8 and stronger so 26 27 38 49 etc In 3cm rainscatter we give 51r to 59r The r gives that the contact is made bij rainscatter. I hope this will help you Paul. 73 and see you at Dayton 73 en de groeten Timon Kruijer pa9kt

The bad news is that a country file for dxing must reflect your own logbook and be maintained by you as you work different countries. My country file has all of my personal exceptions going back to 1955, but it is different than someone else who has been dxing for the same amount of time. The program has the capability to import your old country file each time a new country file is distributed so you can add all of your personal exceptions.
