Re: [Dx4win] DX4Win Conflict with WSJT

2024-02-22 Thread Kurt Zimmerman - W2MW

Let us know how it works out Jerry.

Some background I am a DX4WIN user for well over 20 years. About 2
years ago I put my big toe into FT8.  For the past 2 years I have worked
more Q's than I did on phone & CW since I was licensed back in 1987.  I
was really disappointed that DX4WIN did not have a direct interface with
WSJT-X much like a number of other logging programs.  Also, I started
gaining interest in POTA, Parks On The Air.  I wanted a logging program
that could handle SSB, CW & Digital.  So I purchased another logging
program to do just that.

From time to time I will import the log from the other logging program
into DX4WIN as another repository for my logs.

Personally speaking and coming from a almost 50 year software developer,
I think there are several enhancements that DX4WIN can benefit from.

1)    WSJT-X direct interface logging
2)    Auto-upload of Q's to a number of on-line QSL services including
LOTW, QRZ, HamLog, eQSL

I will always be a strong supporter of DX4WIN and continue to upgrade to
the latest version.  It certainly has the best interface out of all of
the logging programs I've used.

Paul should provide a direct way to import WSJT-X QSOs into
DX4WIN.  We have been asking for this feature for years.  The
simplest solution would be to use UDP broadcast functions that are
already supported in WSJT-X and other loggers such as N1MM.  It is
a shame that Paul will not address this

As less elegant solution would be to provide a one key ability to
initiate a manual import of the WSJT-X file into DX4WIN. In
Preferences, we should be able to specify the location of the
WSJT-X log file.   We should then be able to specify a hotkey that
will initiate a direct import, but this would involve importing
the entire log file from WSJT-X and ignoring duplicates.  This
poor man's version would at least eliminate the need for key mappers.

The best solution is for Paul to provide the automatic import of
each QSO as it is logged in WSJT-X via UDP broadcasts. This
feature works beautifully between WSJT-X and N1mm and many other
general logging programs

To log WSJT-X contacts into DX4WIN:

I am using a separate program called Macro Recorder.

What it does is create a Macro that records all the moves one has
to take to manually import the WSJT-X Log into DX4WIN.

Once that is done (the creation of a specific Macro) it takes no
more than a few seconds to import into DX4WIN.

I have one button on the keyboard (in my case the UP button) that
activates the specific macro. You can see all the "moves" of the
mouse and the various windows as it runs through the steps to
process it (importing the WSJT-X log into DX4WIN).

Again, this all happens within a few seconds with one push of the
UP button.

Re: [Dx4win] DX4Win Conflict with WSJT

2024-02-21 Thread David Perry, N4QS
Hi Wes,

You missed the point of this thread. We all know you can manually import an
ADIF file from WSJT-X or any other program.

The original question was if there was any other way to import QSOs from WSJT-X
besides a manual import.

Instead of manually importing every month or so, many DX4WIN users would like
each QSO to be automatically imported into DX4WIN as it is logged in WSJT-X.
This feature is already available with MMTTY when making RTTY contacts.

When bands are wide open like on 6M, it is important to be able to import QSOs
from WSJT-X in real time so that we can quickly make spots on the cluster to
update other ops about band openings. Manual imports take too long.

We need real time updates via UDP broadcasts like what most other leading
logging programs provide. Even if Paul would provide this advanced feature,
there is no reason why you could not continue doing manual updates every month
or so if you prefer.

Dave, N4QS

You can import WSJTX log right now …there is no need to fix anything. I import
about every month or so.

Just point your import to the WSJTX log, ignore dupes, and let it rip.

corner of DX4WIN. Drop down the menu and hit STOP RADIO. That will stop DX4WIN
from accessing your rig.

WSJT-X is then the only program running with the rig.

Every other function of DX4WIN still works (other than rig access) and WSJT-X
is right there on the screen also doing its thing.

To each his own but this works for me.

Subject: [Dx4win] DX4Win Conflict with WSJT

My station is DX4Win with an Icom 7600 and 7700. I too would like to run
WSJT at the same time as DX4Win. I see the previous references to Yaesu's
Win4yaesusuite but didn't bother because I see nothing to tell me this software
will work with Icom.

I have also followed the suggestion to look at N6TV's latest on comports, page
61 where he talks about comport sharing. He suggests VE3NEA's OmniRig
software, but says this is not supported by N1MM and others. Apparently DX4Win
is one of the others. I looked at the OmniRig documentation; DX4Win is not
included in the list of compatible logging software.

So-Help anyone? Does anyone have the Yaesu suite or the OmniRig solution
working with DX4Win/WSJT and Icom combination?

Besides Mike's recommendation below, there is another port splitter. I use
VSPE. It creates 4 serial ports from one. I run DX4Win, WSJT-X and JTDX at
the same time.

Hello Alan,

DX4WIN works well with LP Bridge from TelePost. It’s made specifically for the
Elecraft K3, but they have another port sharing program, LP Bridge2, that is
supposed to work with other radios. GL.

Alan,

Win4icomsuite does do the job perfect, have several rigs working
with up to 5 different programs at the same time.

2024-02-21 Thread Keith Beebe W3KB
Here is the way I do it.by avoiding the conflict in the first place.

I run DX4WIN and WSJT-X side by side on my computer screen. DX4WIN on the left
and WSJT-X on the right.

Now here is the main point: Go to the RADIO menu listing in the upper left
corner of DX4WIN. Drop down the menu and hit STOP RADIO. That will stop DX4WIN
from accessing your rig.

WSJT-X is then the only program running with the rig.

Every other function of DX4WIN still works (other than rig access) and WSJT-X
is right there on the screen also doing its thing.
