Ray, Make sure you have the latest version (9.09); if not, do Help | Check for Updates You may want keep a backup of your log before doing the following: QSO Window: QSO | Multiple QSO Operations | Mark Duplicate QSOs --Paul From the Help: Multiple QSO operations: Mark Duplicates Check all QSOs matching the current Selection and filter for duplicate entries. When a QSO is found to be a duplicate, comparing callsign date, time, mode, a note will be added to the Notes for the QSO. If the QSO has any award setting, the note will be DUPE_QSO_AWD, if there are no award settings but the QSO is confirmed (qsl_card, LoTW or eQSL), the note will be DUPE_QSO_CONF. [Dx4win] Dupes in Contest Mode
Hi Paul,For one of your next releases, it would be fine when in Contest Mode, to have dupes shown in red, not only when entered in the QSO window, but also to show them in red in the spot window, This would avoid clicking on some spots to see afterwards they were dupes :) ! 73, Radi F6GNZ __ DX4WIN mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/dx4win Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:DX4WIN@mailman.qth.net This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html

Does it mean a dupe like in a contest i.e. a separate contact that has been made on the same band but at a different time? I think that in this case it is a bad idea to remove the dupes from the log. The dupe contact might be the only one that is both in your log and the other stations log. The first occurence might not be in the other stations log at all for some reason (he/she worked somebody else, had a computer glitch etc). Re: [Dx4win] Dupes
You are right Teijo, a dupe definition is mandatory before thinking about removing. A dupe is a nearly exact time, say a 5 minutes window or precisely the same time, resulting either from typing old logs or importing old logs. I have faced this problem several times when working with PY0S old logs. A nice improvement in the delete dupee tool should be allowing the user to define the time window. I think several users have faced this problem before. 73 DX de PY2YP - Cesar On 9/1/2014 10:59, Teijo Murtovaara wrote: 9.1.2014 13:47, Radivoj Kar, F6GNZ kirjoitti: Cesare, I think it won't be good to automatically remove dupes from the log! Re: [Dx4win] Dupes
I would like to humbly suggest that since logs can be exported, modified, and re-imported, that perhaps something like this would be better for a third-party tool. Just the discussion of defining what a dupe is shows to me that implementing such a feature as part of the core functionality of D4W might be difficult. With an external tool, it would be possible for the end-user to specify their particular definition of dupe (e.g., within 2 minutes, 1 minute, 5 minutes, same/different digital mode, etc.) without having to build all that logic into D4W. Just my opinion. On 1/9/2014 8:39 AM, PY2YP wrote: You are right Teijo, a dupe definition is mandatory before thinking about removing. [Dx4win] Dupes?
Hi, Just wondering why I have 17QSO out of 5K flagged to print a label? These QSO are random, dupes of a actual good QSO, (not confirmed yet) the dupe is marked for a label , that I did NOT create. I deleted them after searching my log. I must admit I have exported and imported my log several times, and the cty file old and new, when I did the latest country upgrade. Just expermenting and checking for errors, and self learning how it works.Strange don't know why. Secondly, is there any search filter to find duplicate QSO'S in your log? Tnx es 73 de Bernie/WO2N. My question is why are there dupes in the log? Is this asking the developer to provide a software fix for a potential operator error? The procedure for fixing dupes is quite simple. Not sure why there is such a problem with this. 73, Charlie, W0YG..

Hi, Thanks very much for all of your responses regarding eliminating duplicate contacts from a single DX4WIN log. Actually, the correct response to my question is no. There is no utility or process for eliminating duplicate contacts within a single DX4WIN log. One can create additional logs and merge. Import or export. Or whatever. When one introduces other logs via the ADIF process, it gets even more complex and less reliable. In the end, this is a great weakness of the DX4WIN programs, although there are an enormous number of strengths. At any rate, thanks for the advice. 73s, Rick WO8L

I think this reply is misleading. It is trivial to eliminate dupes, if one is referring to exact duplicate log entries. It is simply a matter of merging the log into a new file which eliminates all dupes in one pass. [Dx4win] Dupes
Rick, 1. Create a new log 2. Enter one dummy QSO (like in 1945) 3. Import the file(s) (or use Merge for DX4WIN files) 4. You will be asked what to do with duplicate QSOs; select 'Ignore imported QSO' 5. This assumes that the second QSO (the duplicate) of the imported QSOs is the one you want to ignore; so the sequence you use is important. 6. When done, delete the dummy QSO; should be the first in the log.
