2012-04-25 Thread Scott Best
Chris:

Heya. Unfortunately, no RDP in InstantVNC. Microsoft changed things
in Windows 7 so that the RDP service doesn't work well with tunneled
connections to the loopback interface anymore; many web pages
describing the similar problem seen by people using SSH to tunnel RDP
sessions. Works fine on XP, but not on Windows 7. And, to my dismay,
echoWare (used by InstantVNC) is built to use the loopback interface,
and it'd be a pretty significant change to echoWare to get it working
again. I guess I'm still hoping that a future Windows 7 service pack
puts it right again. :)

Re: [Echovnc-users] EchoVNC 3.0 beta

2011-05-03 Thread Scott Best

Heya all. The third beta of EchoVNC 3.0 is up on the FTP server:

ftp://ftp.echogent.com/EchoVNC/windows/beta/

This version adds a Startup Wizard. The installer doesn't prompt you
to run it, but please do as it should help with initial setup.

cheers,
Scott

This version should more be easier to install as a Windows service.
 Here's how I do it:

 1. Start it up. :)
 2. Add an echoServer in the 2nd tab
 3. Enable VNC tunnels (radio button on the 1st tab)
 4. Install it as a service in the 3rd tab.

You probably should deinstall the first beta prior to installing this
 one.

Tested here on Windows 7 Home Premium. Working now on a Startup
Wizard for it... Any feedback welcome!

 Try
it out, you'll see what I mean.

In this beta, you can also register EchoVNC as a service. Right now,
the settings you create in standalone mode don't get copied over.
 Am
fixing that now, so please feel free to suggest this as an
 improvement. :)

Re: [Echovnc-users] EchoServer for Linux version 1.67

2011-03-28 Thread Scott Best

Heyaz. I updated that package this morning to include a version built
for the CentOS 5.5 flavor.

Turns out ... CentOS is optimized for stability, so they hold back on
some updates that other Linux flavors move ahead with. For example,
libstdc++. On the echoServer we've built for demo.echovnc.com (which
runs Debian 5), we use the recent g++-3.4.9 library, so we need a
runtime library that is compatible with libstdc++-3.4.9. And ...
CentOS' default libstdc++ isn't.

Anyhow, for you CentOS users out there, there's now a build for you
inside of that same package. Please enjoy. :)

Re: [Echovnc-users] EchoVNC 3.0 beta

2011-03-26 Thread Scott Best

Steve:

Yes, the old mirage driver definitely contributed to EchoVNC 2.35's
instability. The larger problem, however, was that EchoVNC 2.35 ran
it's own flavor of VNC server, and I was unable to keep up with the
pace of Windows OS, UAC, and runtime library updates.

In the 3.0 version, EchoVNC goes back to our 1.x approach in which it
*invokes* a standalone VNC server only when needed. That allows me to
focus on what we do well: provide a firewall-friendly connection to
remote desktop services, rather than trying to maintain said remote
desktop services

hope that helps,
Scott

One thought:

EchoVNC 2.35 seems to crash more than it should. I've always
wondered if this is caused by an old, possibly buggy version of the
Mirage Driver. More recent versions are available, and they are WHQL-
certified. 3.0 uses the latest Mirage Driver, right?

Sean:

Heya. To clarify, this is an update to the server side of EchoVNC
(i.e., the side of the connection you want to take remote control of
from somewhere else), not to the echoServer (which brokers the connect
between viewer and server). However, we do, finally, have the spec
written out for the MySQL updates to the echoServer ...

Regarding command line options, I don't have any in this version of
the EchoVNC server. I'm not sure that I had any in the 2.35 release
either...

Any progress in switching the user database over to MySQL or some

be wrong but the command line options limit you to a VNC

 initiate the RDP connections?

I've got the auto server installation, automatic user account
creation and automatic remote access portions working through my
support system but for some of the newer systems, RDP seems to be a
little easier and if I could use your client to initiate those
connections from the command line, it certainly make things a lot

[Echovnc-users] EchoVNC Java Viewer 1.0

2010-06-12 Thread Scott Best

Heyaz. This email announces the 1.0 release of a Java-based EchoVNC
Viewer:

ftp://ftp.echogent.com/EchoVNC/java/bin/EchoVNC-Java-Viewer-1.0.zip

It's conceptually similar to the Windows EchoVNC Viewer, of course:
you can use it as a desktop application to initiate firewall-
friendly VNC connections to echoWare-enabled VNC Servers (like
InstantVNC, like EchoVNC, or like any VNC server that EchoVNC is
configured to run alongside with). Being a Mac user, I've also
include a MacOS application bundle of the app; For Windows users,
there's an exciting .BAT file. :)

In addition to being a desktop app, it also works as a browser-based
applet for those of you wanting to integrate an EchoVNC Viewer as part
of a web-based remote support capability. The above zipfile includes
the HTML documentation and examples that describes how the applet can
be invoked using typical parameter=value pairs.

I've not been able to test the app on Linux desktops (KDE or Gnome)
yet, and I'd appreciate any suggestions or feedback you have there.

Cleaning up the source now, then I'll get that online. It will
include both EchoVNC and the echoWare toolkit portions. Once that's
done, I'll be starting work on a Java version of our VNC Server side
software, EchoVNC Envoy. Finally you'll be able to connect to a VNC
server running on MacOS or Linux, not just Windows...

cheers,
Scott

we type in the name of a missing system and check off 'Connect via

J:

Hello! When you customize InstantVNC (by holding down the SHIFT
key), did you remember to put your echoServer into the address field? By
default, it connects to ours at demo.echovnc.com.

To check ... try using the -ll switch when you start your echoServer.
That will create a verbose debug log file that will output the
password that
a client sent when it failed to connect.

Also, to get it listening to multiple ports, just use the -p switch.
We use
-p 443 1328 on the demo echoServer, so that it listens to both TCP 443
and TCP 1328.

Re: [Echovnc-users] Problems with ultiple screens

2009-08-29 Thread Scott Best

Eeek, 4 monitors though. :)

Whenever EchoVNC gives a VNC-ish problem, my suggestion is always to
combine
EchoVNC with a more modern VNC Viewer and Server combination. That is,
EchoVNC
consists of two pieces: one to make the connection, the second to
handle the VNC session
that's created. That second part can be handed off easily to another
VNC program; it's
an option in both the EchoVNC Viewer and EchoVNC Server.

With this workaround, you get all the benefits of making easy
connections with
EchoVNC, and all of the benefits of state-of-the-art VNC support with
other platforms
(e.g., RealVNC, TightVNC, or UltraVNC).

cheers,
Scott

2009-04-20 Thread Scott Best

Heya. Some answers:

1. Support for RDP and RAdmin is fully implemented in EchoVNC.

2. The same EchoVNC application can help make connections to both VNC
and RDP, but you cannot have a VNC and RDP session active at the same
time.

3. Exactly what version of EchoVNC are you running on the unstable
machines,
and exactly what flavor of Windows OS is on that machine?

4. An EchoVNC server will auto-reconnect to the echoServer. That is,
once it's
connected, it will always try to reconnect. If it connects and fails
password
authentication to the echoServer, it will stop trying to auto-
reconnect. That is,
assuming you have the latest versions of everything.

5. Please run services.msc from the Windows command line, and remove
the
old echoServer service instance, the one busy creating error
messages. Then
you should be able to create a new one that works correctly. Exactly
what
version echoServer and Windows are you running on your echoServer PC?

admin's user account while rdp shall connect to the rdp user
accounts (the rdp users are used for home and media control
appliances running parallel to the admin which has to run in
 background)
 - our own echoserver is up, paid and running, although sometimes
connections aren't made immediately, and sometimes - like now -
there are no connections made at all (??). In our DSL-Router i
forwarded port 1328 to the machine which runs echoserver,
servermirror, and teamviewer (my backup ;-) echoVNC crashes quite
often on remote machines and i can restart echovnc-service this way)
 - how do i make the server connect to the echoserver on reboot?
 - i cannot start the echoserver as a service, there's only a stopped
service around which is busy creating error messages when i try to
revive it. So it's running in the admin account of my main machine
 now.

Hope this ain't too much for the beginning, i'm happy about every tip.

Sorry, late reply: we don't currently have an EchoVNC *Server* for

available as of this writing, January 11, 2009)

First, if I set up Vine with no password, I can connect without
 hassle.
If I set Vine to use a password and try to connect from EchoVNC,
 authentication fails every time.

I know the passwords are correct. I looked at the Mac keyboard while
typing the Vine server password, and am looking at my keyboard when I
type the password into the EchoVNC viewer.

Also in Vine, when I click Add... to add an EchoServer, Vine quits
 unexpectedly. No error messages, nothing.

 Help?

 Thanks.

Have you guys tried to compile echovnc on linux lately?
I'm running Mandriva and the RPM fails because it needs libcrypto.
I forced the install of the rpm and symlinked libcrypto.so.0.9.8
 (from openssl)
to libcrypto.so.6. It runs but won't connect to my echoserver.

The source installer dies in ./configure with configure: error: C

 create executables.
 The config.log shows it's dying in confdefs.h. :
 ld: cannot find -lgcc_s

 Any suggestions?

Re: [Echovnc-users] Install Linux Server without Root Access

Yep, what Steve says. :) Hopefully there's no firewall in place that's
blocking TCP 1328. That, of course, would require root access to adjust.

You can install and run the server as a regular user. It uses port
 1328
by default, and port 1328 is not a privileged port (only ports lower
than 1024 are privileged and require you to be root).

I run a Linux EchoServer under a regular user account; it works fine.

Re: [Echovnc-users] Newb Questions

2008-10-28 Thread Scott Best
Scott:

Heya. Yes, in order to remote your Mom's PC, it needs to be running
a remote control server of some sort, such as a VNC server. That's a
specific piece of software, one of two pieces.
The other piece is the Viewer, which you run on the PC you want
to take remote control from (e.g., your PC or your sib's PC).
Most VNC installers, including ours, put both pieces onto your
computer, even though you usually only need one or the other.

The EchoVNC software is completely free, please try it out. By default,
it logs you into our demo echoServer (which helps make firewall-
friendly
connections). The only thing we sell are licenses to the echoServer,
if you
want to run your own. But for supporting your Mom's PC, you're welcome
to
use our demo echoServer whenever...

Re: [Echovnc-users] Black window when connected to client (cannot receive data)

2008-10-21 Thread Scott Best

Thanks for checking, and for tolerating my basic questions.
Since there are at least three pieces in the system (Viewer PC,
Remoted PC, and EchoServer), it's worth asking.

The black screen problem is, as you know, usually a fault
of how Windows deals with remote desktops, which conflicts with
VNC. So let's try this:

1. Please try connecting to the remote PC *from the same LAN*.
For example: use EchoVNC on PC1 on LAN1 to connect to PC2
on LAN2, and then open a VNC Viewer on PC2 and connect to
PC3, also on LAN2. It would be useful to know if PC3 is not
handling all VNC sessions, or just EchoVNC ones.

2. If you cannot connect to PC2 on LAN2 above, because of the
black screen problem, please adjust EchoVNC so that you can
use it to make Remote Desktop connections. Then connect to
PC2 with Remote Desktop instead of VNC. The downside of this
approach is that the remote user gets locked out and won't see
what's going on (they'll see a login screen). Again, this will help
isolate why VNC isn't working correctly.

I very much doubt it has to do with IP packet traffic. However,
to test this, please:

3. Adjust your echoServer so that it's listening to TCP 443 instead
of the default (TCP 1328). You'll need to add :443 to the end of
the echoServer address to make it connect this way.

Please let me know if any of that helps.

cheers,
Scott

sory for ironics, but problems with those companies are killing me...

What I've found is that I get these reconnect messages about every
ten minutes. With past versions it would actually re-connect after
30 seconds or so. With the current versions it does not seem to ever
reconnect and you have to close it out and re-start the viewer.

However the every ten minute thing creates a bad problem for my home
use. I have a set top computer that I watch internet television and
movies (netflix instant watch) and computer format recorded shows
on. Although I have not tested this out today, I imagine the problem
is still there. When I am watching a full screen video and the
Reconnecting... box comes up, the screen on the set top box freezes
and audio continues. It does not seem to freeze if I am not watching
 full screen.

I don't know if there are many people trying to use EchoVNC in this
manner, but it makes it so that any computer in the house can
function as a remote control for the set-top unit which you can
 imagine is very handy.

Another factor I should mention is that the set top computer and
usually the remote computer are connected over a wireless network. I
just checked here at work and I'm getting the same ten minute
Reconnecting with no reconnection problem over a wired network. The
EchoVNC server in this case is 2.00 as the computer is running NT4.

Re: [Echovnc-users] Change the update period on the echoVNC software

2008-08-09 Thread Scott Best
Mr.King:

Hello! I believe that the echoWare client sends an IsAlive message
(about 30 bytes) to the echoServer once every 10 seconds, which works
out to about 250kB a day, per EchoVNC client. The echoServer uses
these heartbeats to detect relatively quickly if a client is still
connected,
and the heartbeats also help the TCP session alive thru any routers
or proxies that expect periodic traffic.

I'll ask the developers to compile a version of echoWare that has a
reduced IsAlive frequency. We may also need to update the echoServer
so that it doesn't confuse the reduced frequency with a disconnection.
Are you still running the Windows-flavored echoServer?

now available. Source and packages here:

http://sf.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=133100package_id=146262release_id=618673

Updates include:

* Added support for Linux x64.
* Added command line parameters (see echovnc -h)
* Cleaned up source and packages

Reminder: this is just for the Viewer side of your VNC or RDesktop
connection; nothing for Linux server-side support yet...

I then got one of my clients to run the 2.35 upgrade and now I cannot

As it is the upgraded server that is causing the grief then either
something went wrong with the install or the 2.35 server has a

The only things I can think of are; that 2.35 might have been
 installed

Whatever the cause, I now have to decide whether to go back to 2.34 on

[Echovnc-users] new demo EchoServer requires update

2008-08-04 Thread Scott Best

Heyaz. I repaired a bug this weekend with the demo echoServer,
one that caused only a portion of the available partners list to be
transmitted to the EchoVNC client. Problem is ... when logging is
enabled on EchoVNC, it tries to log this large message, and the
message is now larger than a logging process buffer. So it crashes.
Ooops.

To repair this, please just update the Echoware.dll file in
your EchoVNC install folder to this one:

ftp://ftp.echogent.com/EchoWare/windows/bin/Echoware_1.999.15.zip

This version will be included in the 2.35 release of EchoVNC,
coming out this week. Also, no worries on the server side, it never gets
the available partners list. So you only need to update your Viewer
installations...

Thanks for updating, sorry for the hassle!

[Echovnc-users] EchoVNC 2.35 update -- IMPORTANT

2008-08-04 Thread Scott Best

Hello! Version 2.35 of EchoVNC for Windows is now available:

http://www.echogent.com/download_echovnc.htm
or
ftp://ftp.echogent.com/EchoVNC/windows/bin

This version includes 3 minor updates, one major one:

* Repaired Viewer connection box behavior
* Repaired .vnc file behavior
* EchoWare DLL repairs for large connection groups
* Removed Java Viewer capability from the server

About that last one...It has come to our attention recently that one
of the EchoVNC features we inherited from our port of legacy VNC
platforms has become the basis of a recent patent infringement
lawsuit(1).

I have given the lawsuit details only a superficial review, and I am
hardly qualified to determine anything regarding patent infringement,
patent validity, timeliness, or how the patent holder's grant of a GPL
license relates to the issue. However, in my personal opinion, the
lawsuit appears to be regarding a patent that teaches a method whereby
a remote desktop server (e.g., a VNC server) delivers a Java Viewer
applet to a Viewer-side user via an HTTP connection.

In my understanding, this capability exists in the source code that is
still available under a GPL license from the patent holder
themselves(2).
And while it has been argued that users and modifiers of GPL’d software
have at least an implied license to use patented inventions included
in the
GPL’d software(3), in order to eliminate any possible risk of
damages to
the patent holder, I have decided to de-feature that legacy capability
from
future versions of EchoVNC, starting with the latest release, version
2.35.
I politely request that all EchoVNC users update your installations to
this
latest version.

Please note that this feature in *no way impacts* the distinctive,
value
added feature of EchoVNC, namely its firewall friendliness via the use
of the echoWare toolkit. None of that changes, and isn't affected in
any way
by this update. Also, EchoVNC will of course remain open-source and
GPL'd, as it always has been.

Again, please do not mistake this letter for legal advice. I am not a
lawyer, and do not even play one on TV. :) I am hardly the person that
can
analyze the obtuse claim language of this patent and determine whether
or not it actually reads on what I'm sure many of you consider to be
legacy,
totally ordinary VNC software capabilities that is still available
from the
patent holder under a GPL license. If those details ever get worked out,
perhaps the feature will come back in a future release.

I apologize for the inconvenience, and am happy to discuss any
concerns you might have about this decision. While we at Echogent are
strong supporters and contributors to the open-source software
community,
we also remain respectful of worldwide intellectual property laws.

From reading some other posts I see you've had many
 requests for a
 silent Instant VNC.

 InstantVNC...but-

 good to
 - eliminate step #2. :)

However, I do not want something that's always
 there. I work for a
Network Consulting firm so I'm helping users in many
 different
networks daily. I find that most of the time a re-boot
 will be
required, so I'll have to call the user back, have them
 login, run the
 tool

what about a command line switch allowing the session to
 start without
clicking OK. Then, if we wanted, we could turn the
 executable into a
service that could easily be turned on and off. This way,
 the first
time I talk to the user they will have to run the tool and
 click okay.

If I need to reboot I can set the service to automatic and
 reboot.
Before I leave the machine I will disable the service again
 and the
next time the user needs my help they will have to run the
 tool and
 click okay.

I know how you love to make people happy

Are there any command line options for instantvnc?

[Echovnc-users] EchoServer for Linux version 1.63

2008-07-29 Thread Scott Best

Hello! Version 1.63 of EchoServer for Linux is now (finally!)
available:

http://www.echogent.com/download_echoserverlinux.htm
or
ftp://ftp.echogent.com/EchoServer/linux/bin

In addition to improved stability, this version now allows you to bind
the service to several ports simultaneously, for example TCP 443 and
TCP 1328. Any clients connecting to either port can now be accessible to
each other now.

As mentioned in earlier emails, the primary focus of this release is
improved stability with very large connection count. As described in the
README file, the limiting feature of your Linux PC (in terms of how many
echoWare clients it will accept) is the maximum number of open files.
To see that limit:

% ulimit -a

To change that limit, try this command as root, prior to starting up
your echoServer:

# ulimit -n 4096

Comments or suggestions welcome.

cheers,
Scott

Re: [Echovnc-users] Redundancy

2008-05-31 Thread Scott Best
Steve:

I presume you mean the Windows echoServer, as the Linux
echoServer has a single .conf file which it uses for everything.
In general, the Windows echoServer isn't very different from
other Windows applications -- it uses the Windows registry to store
most of its configuration settings. So you should export the registry
keys associated with the echoServer into a .reg file, and then
import that file onto the other PC.
Also, the Windows echoServer creates a .dat file, in the
installation folder. That contains password information, so copy
that over as well.

Scott

We also added a /console switch option for RDP connections,
and we include the WHDL-certified 2.0 Mirage video driver files
(though no installer for them yet).

This release does not yet include full dual-monitor support.

[Echovnc-users] InstantVNC 1.40 pre-release

2008-05-21 Thread Scott Best

Heyaz. The first pre-release of InstantVNC 1.40 is now available:

ftp://ftp.echogent.com/InstantVNC/beta/InstantVNC_1.40_pre01.zip

This version contains the following updates:

* support for dual-monitors (with a switch to turn it off)

* All UI text is now editable via the SHIFT-mode menu, so if
you want to customize the messages or the language...have
at it.

* Added an option for InstantVNC to generate a random password
after it's ready for connections. The idea here is that the remote
user would run the application, and read the 4-digit code to the
support provider over the phone.

* Better support for the Vista Aero theme.

Any feedback appreciated!

[Echovnc-users] EchoVNC for Linux

2008-04-09 Thread Scott Best

Heyaz. The 2nd beta-release of EchoVNC for Linux is now
available here:

ftp://ftp.echogent.com/EchoVNC/beta/echovnc_linux_pre02.zip

It's the Viewer-side application, should be usable to start
both VNC and RDP sessions (using the rdesktop viewer).

Any feedback appreciated!

Hello! So I think we implemented your idea in this 1.39 pre-release:

ftp://ftp.echogent.com/InstantVNC/beta/InstantVNC_1.39pre01.zip

Instead of scottpc, it will show PC-errorcode, where that error
code can help us debug the issue. Hopefully you can reproduce the
name not showing up problem with this version ...

thanks,
Scott

Heyaz. A beta-release of the 1.65 version of the Windows echoServer
is now on the FTP site here:

ftp://ftp.echogent.com/EchoServer/windows/beta/echoserver_1.65_pre01.zip

In this release, we cleaned up numerous little things:

1. Solved problem with edit button and private groups.
2. Add tray icon for system service
3. Added an ability to type @ in the login names.
4. Reformatted the status tab to show more connections at once.
5. Added an ability to specify IP address for listening

Re: [Echovnc-users] Buffer error on Echo VNC Server 1.61 NTPL

2008-02-14 Thread Scott Best
Larry:

Two ideas I hope you can try:

1. On the PC that's having trouble connecting, please try adjusting
its MTU size.

http://www.dslreports.com/faq/695

2. On your Linux echoServer, open an SSH tunnel from TCP 443
on your external interface to TCP 1328 on the internal interface.
Here's how I do it:

% ssh -N -g -L 66.135.32.141:443:127.0.0.1:1328 [EMAIL PROTECTED]

I'm using version version 4.3p2 of OpenSSH for that.

What that command does is cause ssh to open a tunnel from the
port 443 on the external IP address (66.135.32.141), and securely
tunnel it to port 1328 on the loopback interface, where the echoServer
is listening. On this PC, I also have an account echoserver which
runs the service, hence the [EMAIL PROTECTED] part.

Then, try connecting to your echoServer; just append :443
to the address. That will force it to connect to the SSH server first...

Am checking with the developers to see what the error message
is actually saying.

Mike:

Hello! I am unsure about the preconfigured message; never saw that,
not sure why it would happen. :) Am guessing that the user account you
installed EchoVNC with did not have sufficient privilege to create the
registry
entry that EchoVNC uses for storing passwords. I believe errors like
this is
why UltraVNC finally gave up on using the Windows registry, and now
writes all config information into a file in the install folder. Maybe
we should
consider that ... for whatever reason, MSFT is intent on changing the
security
model of their registry use ever service pack

As for connecting at the login screen, you should simply need to
install
(register and start) EchoVNC as a standard Windows service. Of course,
this
requires that you run the installer as an admin-level user.

I can’t seem to find a setting that will alter the “preconfigured”

Way way back in the day I used to be able to connect to VNC even if

Hey Scott! Ah so that's why I've been having troubles lately. :o)

However, I think it might be time for me to setup my own echoserver

 So a couple of questions:

 1. I currently use the demoserver on port 443 as my company's

blocking for everything else. If I want to setup the echoserver on my
computer at home on the same port should I then just port forwared
 443 to
the local IP address? Would this give me any other problems regards
 using
 the internet or so?

 2. How much bandwidth does the echoserver need? I have a 20 mbit
 connection
but have some heavy internet traffic from time to time. Will that be a
 problem?

 3. What about the general performace of the machine running the
 echoserver?
Will the connections be slow if the machine is multitasking a lot?

 4. Are there any papers on how to set up the echoserver or is it
 just a
 next and next installation?

 Have a nice weekend!

 Jimmy

Heyaz. There'll be a bit of confusion with the demo
 servers as
I make some adjustments here. The old one is still available, but
at demo2.echovnc.com. And the new one at demo.echovnc.com
doesn't seem to be stable yet. :)
Each still work with passwords of demo2007 and
 demo2008.

 cheers,
 Scott

Re: [Echovnc-users] Problem using EchoVNC with EchoServer

2008-01-14 Thread Scott Best
Mark:

I'm not sure that this will affect your results much, but the latest
build of EchoVNC is version 2.32, which you can get here:

http://www.echogent.com/download_echovnc.htm

Also, do you see the same problem when connected to our
demo echoServer? Please try demo2.echovnc.com, with the
password demo2008. That will help isolate where the issue could
be.

cheers,
Scott

I have a EchoServer setup on a linux box (hosted Virtual Private
  Server).
The remote computers can connect to the EchoServer.
I can can see them an initiate a connection.
It asks for the password and then starts to show the remote screen.
I get about 1/6th of the screen fairly quickly
The rest of the screen either never shows up or takes a very long
time to display (10 minutes or longer).

All of the sites are on high speed broadband.

  I am on a 15meg x 2meg connection
  EchoServer is on a 1meg x 1meg connection
  Remote site is on a 512k x 512k connection

I have been able to connect point to point eliminating the
  EchoServer and everything works well.
Once the EchoServer is in place there is extreme slowness.

Any ideas on how to solve this?

  Thanks,
  Mark

Wow, harsh. Is there an old version of the mirage driver
hanging around? Hard to imagine EchoVNC *and* UltraVNC
crashing because of anything I could affect...

Don't ask me for any info about any sort of error messages. The blue

and the STOP error are only visible for a couple of seconds before the
computer reboots. I tried several times to read the message -
 couldn't read it
 at all.
