Re: [Elecraft] K2 TX audio
If you have the K2/100, remove the KI6WX mod - without the KPA100, it makes no difference. Make certain the SSB FL1 filter is set to OP1. Check the position of the OP1 filter passband with Spectrogram . The low frequency 'knee' of the passband should be close to 300 Hz. If you are wondering what I mean about the 'knee' of the passband, look at the top of the passband shape and then look to the left (low frequency end). Find the place where the passband response is about 3 dB less than the flat of the passband - that point is the 'knee' that you need to place close to 300 Hz. Be aware that many VHFers want to hear very wideband audio but the K2 cannot produce that. You should have good communications quality audio - test on HF. 73, Don W3FPR On 12/21/2021 5:24 PM, Geert Jan de Groot wrote: On 21/12/2021 21:30, elecraft-requ...@mailman.qth.net wrote: The SSBCAPKT was released November 2004.??? You could probably substitute a different set of capacitors / crystals and taylor the response. However, widening the filter will tend to worsen the near signal IMD rejection. I can't imagine why anyone would want to do this, particularly if they are using the 2.6 filter already. [Elecraft] K2 tx audio
Hi everyone, can someone direct me to a set of instructions that is step by step to setting up the tx audio on the K2? The one I have here is TOO bassy with the Hiel hand mic and after reading and confusing myself so many times the manual, just was to be able to adjust the audio for just a few more highs, now I know there isa a way to do it but I just cannot seem to get it right, any help would be most appreciated. Re: [Elecraft] K2 tx audio
The manual covers the procedure very well. You can find a downloadable version and then use the PDF viewer for search within. Re: [Elecraft] K2 tx audio
How is your SSB FL1 filter passband aligned? The position of the passband will make a big difference in how the K2 sounds on the air. The procedure in the manual will get the filters close, but may not be optimum for your K2. For best results use Spectrogram and position the passband between markers set at 300 Hz and 2600 Hz if you have the 2.4 kHz OP1 filter - if you have the older 2.1 kHz filter, use markers at 300 and 2300 Hz. If that is not enough information about how to do the filter alignment using Spectrogram, take a look at my website www.w3fpr.com - article on K2 Dial Calibration. Part 3 of that article covers the filter alignment. Try the filter alignment first, and if you still have too much bass, change KSB2 C32 and C34 to smaller values. I have used 0.47 uF for C34 and somewhere in the range of .0033 to .005 uF for C32 and found it works well. This change is documented in the list of K2 mods (official and unofficial), and this is one of the unofficial ones. 73, Don W3FPR john wrote: Hi everyone, can someone direct me to a set of instructions that is step by step to setting up the tx audio on the K2? Re: [Elecraft] K2 tx audio
Hi John, I too found the K2 TX audio too bassy. If you look here you will find a modification to capacitor value in the KSB2 which helps lighten things up. http://homepages.nildram.co.uk/~baker/K2_SSB_Mods_Overview.html 73 Stewart G3RXQ On Sun, 4 Oct 2009 09:14:12 -0700 (PDT), john wrote: Hi everyone, can someone direct me to a set of instructions that is step by step to setting up the tx audio on the K2?
