ICal and Entourage events, no longer visible!!!

2008-10-10 Thread David Morganstein

Wow! Suddenly, the events in iCal (the entourage calendar) and Ent 2008 are
not appearing. I do have the Entourage calendar checked in iCal. I tried
unchecking the Ent calendar in iCal and rechecking...doesn't make it appear.
Other calendars, like Holidays, appear fine.

Fortunately, the events are present on MobileMe and on my iPhoneand I
don't want to lose them...

I saw the recent news about locked iCal calendars but that does not appear
to be the problem here.

Any suggestions?

Bad PDF preview in Ent2008 messages

2008-10-10 Thread Carlo Anselmi
Hello,

In Ent2008 (12.1.2) I am noticing there are a few messages with attached PDF
files (sent and received) whose ³preview² at the bottom of the message
(usually it is the first page of the PDF) does not display properly.
It looks like a ³scrambled² image, the attached file is fine though, I mean
I can open it.
Is it a know bug or something already discussed here?
Many thanks for your kind attention,

Carlo

Sorry for revisiting an old issue;

Looking at a post on the CreativeTechs website from Sept. 2005, they
indicate that with Office 04 Service Pack 2 comes the ability to access a
company¹s global address list.

I didn¹t realize that was possible.

Can anyone tell me how?

Carlo, something similar happens in Entourage 2004 as well. If the file is a
PDF, the first page of the PDF previews in the message preview window -- but
if the PDF is annotated or edited, those marks do not show up until the PDF
is opened in Acrobat.

Is this on Tiger or Leopard? I ask, because if Entourage is using the system
routines to display the PDF, I don't believe they'd be able to show items
like annotations on Tiger. I believe this was added in Leopard, however --
at least for Preview if not the underlying PDFKit.

You can browse the Exchange GAL from the Address Book in Entourage 2004 SP2
or later. In the left pane of the Address Book window, you'll have to choose
the one of the address lists associated with your Exchange account -- but if
your organization has sublists for the GAL, they should appear there.

This should work outside your organization's network if you can connect
Entourage to a public-facing front end/OWA server, which should be done with
SSL for security.

The lookups done when composing mail messages and calendar invitations, as I
recall, are all done with LDAP to the Global Catalog. These typically fail
when you go outside your organization's local network, since the ports used
for this communication are often blocked from remote access.

Hi, sorry forgot to tell it's 10.4.11 with Ent2008 (12.1.2).
I have updated Office from 2004 a few days ago.
This issue has never happened to me before.

Thanks again!

Umm... I have 11.4.0.

Is that service pack 2?

Or is that something I would need to check with my IT dept?

Download the 11.5.0 combo updater that will include the SP2. To be fully

I have 11.5.1, but Entourage is still 11.4.0 (and Word is still 11.5.0, but
Excel and PP are 11.5.1). Based on that, the OP might already have 11.5.1.

Keychain log-in question

2008-10-10 Thread Stephen Duxbury - Prestset
I have three Macs, my main one is at work and have a laptop and at home
another iMac. I use work as my main entourage database and every other day
or so I copy the database to laptop and home machine. Use leave 'messages on
server' so always get message I want on main database, it all works really
well apart from home iMac forever wants its keychain log in password typing
in, just from waking machine from sleep and it wants it again. I have run
keychain repair and it sometimes finds something about ports, but still that
doesn't fix it! The laptop never asks for it. What can I do to fix it??

Running 10.5.5 and Entourage 11.4.0

Thanks
Stephen

I'm interested in this fix, too. My Entourage (currently 11.4.0 (080122))
started doing this three years ago when I moved the data from my G4
Quicksilver to my G5, and then proceeded to share the need with my laptop
when I put my Identity folder over there, too.

P.S. Any answers for revdave's leave mail on server problem aside from
deleting all mail on server? I'd like to be able to keep the mail on server,
just not as much of it.

Thanks,
Linda

You might want to use an external drive for your Microsoft User Data folder
with alias in Documents folder.

One user explains how they use this method:

I keep my Microsoft User Data folder on an external pocket firewire drive (a
large capacity USB thumb-drive will suffice if both machines have USB 2.0)
and just keep aliases to it in my Documents folder of all the machines I use
Entourage on (laptop, desktop and occasionally other machines I sit down in
front of for a few hours). Works like a charm and gives me an identical
environment on every machine.

You must quit the Microsoft Database daemon in order to eject the drive.

The true test is to see the Microsoft Component Plugin. It is always
updated. You can get this script to see what's actually installed.

Download this script that will show you Office version info. Note there are
different scripts for Office X, 2004 and Office 2008.
