For whatever reason, the revised info file was not in the mirror when

I manually downloaded the latest joe.info file, installed it, and Joe
 installed correctly.

Re: [Fink-users] cloog update problem

2009-08-08 Thread Marc Baaden

Hi,

I had a similar problem and have solved it via a workaround. The error
message is actually quite clear, the directory m4 does not exist. If
you unpack the cloog tarball that fink downloaded, create this
directory and re-tar/compress, then tell fink to use this modified
tarball, all goes well (at least on the surface).

Hope that helps,

This is not really related to gcc44, as such. Such errors can occur if
a terminal session dies while you're building, or your machine shuts
off, etc.

What you'd want to do is edit /sw/var/lib/dpkg/status as a super-user
with a unix-line-ending-friendly editor go to around line 9393, and
change 'installed' to 'not-installed'.

I can't reproduce these problems here. Someone will have to post
their config.log so we can see why exactly what configure was looking
at that it decided was too old. Alternatively, users could try removing
the autoconf2.5 and autoconf2.13 to see if that helps solve the issue.

Re: [Fink-users] cloog update problem

2009-08-08 Thread Robert Wyatt
Hi Jack,

It builds fine for me on 10.5 with either autoconf or autoconf2.5 (which
are equivalent versions of autoconf), and also without any autoconf,
but it fails for me with autoconf2.13 (with:

FATAL ERROR: Autoconf version 2.54 or higher is required for this script)

This dependency is satisfied by autoconf and autoconf2.5 as they are both
autoconf version 2.63.

I don't know which of the successful builds actually work, perhaps all of
them

The package does not list any autoconf dependency or conflict.

So, you cannot reproduce the error with autoconf2.13 installed? I'm
happy to post a config.log, but you'll need to tell me where to find it.

Re: [Fink-users] cloog update problem

2009-08-08 Thread Robert Wyatt
Jack,

Putting aside Stan and Marc's missing m4 directory for the moment (which
I can't reproduce either).

cloog self-identifies as being dependent upon autoconf 2.54, which is
satisfied with native autoconf from both tiger (2.59) and leopard (2.61)
and also by fink's (2.63), but not by the autoconf that comes with the
current 10.5 bindist (2.13). Discussing this on IRC, the recommendation
is to add a versioned BuildDepends on autoconf 2.54.

This avoids the use of BuildConflicts autoconf2.13, which would also
work but is considered less than an optimal solution due to future
maintenance issues, as well as providing a more deterministic (read:
easier to debug) build (using fink's autoconf instead of any autoconf
that might be on the machine).

Best regards,
Robert

To possibly further muddy the issue, or perhaps to provide insight to
a *nix maven, cloog-0.15.4 built/updated without complaint on my ppc
powerbook G4, same setup as the intel iMac.

 Best regards,
 Robert

 Robert,
I will add a BuildDepends on autoconf 2.54 to cloog 0.15.5-1.
Interestingly, if I try to do a 'fink install autoconf2.13', this
 fails with...

 fink install autoconf2.13
Information about 9257 packages read in 1 seconds.
The following package will be installed or updated:
  autoconf2.13
 Reading buildlock packages...
 Could not resolve inconsistent dependencies!

Fink isn't sure how to install the above packages safely. You may be able to
 fix things by running:

   fink scanpackages
   sudo apt-get update
   sudo apt-get install autoconf2.13=2.13-5

Failed: Fink::SysState: Could not resolve inconsistent dependencies

Yeah, that's because apt-get can remove automake also but fink can't.
