Hello, Stefan. I've been able to reproduce your error; I'm cc'ing the
 maintainer.

Thanks for the report. Unfortunately, my only 10.5 machine is kaput, and
going in for servicing, so it may be a week+ before I can test it out

I was able to reproduce this error with an upgraded 10.6 build, but
haven't looked into fixing it yet. I haven't forgotten!

[Fink-users] Building kdelibs4-mac

2009-09-28 Thread Jon Connell
I've been building kdelibs4 on 10.6 (64-bit) and I'm making some progress.

The first problem is that cmake incorrectly detects the existence of
fdatasync (rather than fsync) so compilation fails early on in kdecore.
Removing the HAVE_FDATASYNC #define from config.h after the configure
runs fixes that. I'd don't know how cmake gets confused, but I guess
that's a workaround.

Next up is that the tests are picking up the wrong kdeversion.h.

build/kdecore/kdeversion.h is correctly generated with definitions of
stuff like KDE_VERSION_STRING, but the compiler is pulling in the
kdeversion.h from the build root, which has empty definitions (I
compiled the failing file with -E to see what it was pulling in). The
failure manifests itself as:

/sw64/src/fink.build/kdelibs4-mac-4.2.4-2/kdelibs-4.2.4/kdecore/tests/klibloadertest4_module.cpp:26:

error: ‘KDE_VERSION_MAJOR’ was not declared in this scope
/sw64/src/fink.build/kdelibs4-mac-4.2.4-2/kdelibs-4.2.4/kdecore/tests/klibloadertest4_module.cpp:26:

error: ‘KDE_VERSION_MINOR’ was not declared in this scope
/sw64/src/fink.build/kdelibs4-mac-4.2.4-2/kdelibs-4.2.4/kdecore/tests/klibloadertest4_module.cpp:26:

error: ‘KDE_VERSION_RELEASE’ was not declared in this scope
/sw64/src/fink.build/kdelibs4-mac-4.2.4-2/kdelibs-4.2.4/kdecore/tests/klibloadertest4_module.cpp:26:

error: ‘KDE_VERSION_STRING’ was not declared in this scope
make[2]: ***

Error 1
make[1]: *** [kdecore/tests/CMakeFiles/klibloadertestmodule4.dir/all]
Error 2

Deleting the kdeversion.h in the build room seems to bypass the problem
as the compiler then picks up the newly generated one.

A similar thing happens to kdefakes.h, manifesting itself around 30% of
the way through the build when it fails to pick up the builtin initgroups().

So I'd offer a patch, but I don't know enough about the KDE build
process and cmake to hack one. I guess I could learn, but I suspect that
there are a bunch of people who can solve this faster than I could
locate the build howto on the interweb! Sorry for being lazy ...

Anyway, now I'm stuffed:

[ 17%] Building CXX object kdeui/CMakeFiles/kdeui.dir/util/kkeyserver_mac.o

Has that been removed in 10.6?

Jon

Re: [Fink-users] libdbi-drivers-mysql fails to build with autoconfig problems

 Hello.

I'm trying to install libdbi-drivers-mysql 0.8.3-1 package on
MacOSX 10.6.1 with 64 bit fink source distribution. The compilation
of the package fails with the following error message.

It seems that there's a confusion between /usr/bin/autoconf and /sw/
bin/autoconf and the package fails to generate its configure
script. It also fails when I download the original
 http://sourceforge.net/projects/libdbi/files/libdbi/libdbi-0.8.3/libdbi-0.8.3.tar.gz

package and try to do LIBTOOLIZE=glibtoolize ./autogen.sh as
 instructed in the README.osx file.

Should I just remove the Apple provided /usr/bin/autoconf (and
other auto* tools) or is there a cleaner way to force using newer
version of the /sw/bin/autoconf tools? Exporting the AUTOCONF=/sw/
bin/autoconf environment variable doesn't seem to do the trick.

It works as-is for me on 10.6 x86_64, so I'm not too sure my
attempted fix will work. I added an autoreconf in the the compile
script. Please try again when the mirror you use can find libdvi-
 drivers-mysql-0.8.3-2

Thanks, that was really quick :)

I did fink self-update, fink update-all and then tried to install the

I don't have snow leopard yet, but I'll look into this.

My only remaining problem before committing this with my other changes
is that, with 10.5 64bit, I can't get junit to build.
And the presence or not of junit seems to affect at least the build,
if not its end-result..

Both Yap and gprolog have here (ie, 10.5 64bit) much more
serious prblems tha swi-prolog..
Did anyone have some success at one of those ?

2009-09-28 Thread David Fang
I was able to reproduce this error with an upgraded 10.6 build, but
haven't looked into fixing it yet. I haven't forgotten!

I fixed my local info file for this problem , by avoiding APple's stuff
(there was a time where it was basically policy to use fink's stuff
rather than Apple's, when both were available.)

Here follows a cvs diff ( deps still have to be adjusted of course).
 JF

Thanks for the patch, JF,
Several revisions ago, graphviz was building against fink's Ruby
and Tcl, but Peter (CCd) helped patch this package to build against
Apple's Ruby and Tcl to trim down the dependencies. Is there an
official/preferred policy now that 10.6 is upon us?

We don't yet have Fink's Ruby package working on 10.6, and I'm not
sure anybody has worked on that. Hopefully some ruby afficionado will
take on that issue, and restore fink-built ruby to fink; when that
happens, we can have a debate about what the policy should be. Right
now there are no options.

So the changes I committed to ruby in unstable a couple of weeks back
don't work? 1.8.7-p174 builds fine on 10.6.

[Fink-users] x11 missing

2009-09-28 Thread Eric
I have a problem that seems to be affecting many of my attempts to install
packages, directly and indirectly.
The stats I can figure out how to obtain (I don't know my version of
xQuartz, I'm afraid)-
Mac OS X 10.6.1 i386 (upgraded from a 10.4.11 machine)
Package manager version: 0.29.9
Distribution version: selfupdate-cvs Mon Sep 28 09:18:53 2009, 10.6, i386
The error is always some version of, something very like --
---
./fink install xv
Scanning package description files..
Information about 2953 packages read in 1 seconds.
Can't resolve dependency x11 for package xv-3.10a-25 (no matching
packages/versions found)
Exiting with failure.
---

Did I accidentally purge x11 and is it easy to get it back? Sorry about the
simple and silly question.
(And xDarwin.app doesn't launch, either, which I'm guessing is related...)
Thanks!

You may have an X11 installation. See if you have an 'X11' directory
via ls -l /usr. If you do have /usr/X11, then check that output and
make sure that /usr/X11R6 is now a symbolic link to /usr/X11 (or is
present at all). If that isn't the case use

cd /usr
sudo rm -rf X11R6 #if that is present and still a directory
sudo ln -s X11 X11R6

to make it so. fink relies on X11R6 to be a symbolic link to X11 on
10.5 and later.

If, on the other hand, /usr/X11 isn't there, then you should be able to
install X11 from your Snow Leopard media.

XDarwin.app is very likely not going to work for you regardless of
whether you have an X11 installation or not.

Re: [Fink-users] pango1-xft2-ft219 does not compile

2009-09-28 Thread dettus

They're separate files. /usr/X11/lib/libXrender.la was present in the
official X11 distribution on 10.5 until Xcode 3.1, and was also
present

in the unofficial Xquartz X11 distribution.

You should be able to work around this by running:

sudo -s
find /sw/lib -name *.la | xargs rm

That will ensure that you don't have any references to .la files under
/usr/X11 (or /usr, for that matter) that don't exist now on 10.6.

grr... because of a typo i erased most of /sw/lib...
so i went the whole 9 yards and threw all of /sw away.

but now it seems to compile. ;)
thanks for the pointer though!!! --

 Let's find out.
Run fink-virtual-pkgs --debug and go to the location in the output
where it talks about X11 detection. That'll start with something like

 - - checking for library libX11.6.dylib... found in /usr/X11R6/lib

We can see what's missing from that.

[Fink-users] id3v2 run-time error on 10.6/x86_64: patch

2009-09-28 Thread monipol
Hello, Casper. Richard, the submitter of that bug report about id3v2
crashing during run-time on 10.6/x86_64, has submitted a patch to the
bugs tracker:

https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detailaid=2858187group_id=17203atid=117203

Submitter comment:

It turns out this is a known bug that has been fixed in the CVS
version:
https://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detailaid=697951group_id=979atid=100979
http://id3lib.cvs.sourceforge.net/viewvc/id3lib/id3lib-stable/src/mp3_parse.cpp?view=markup

I've attached the patch to fix the issue. It looks like 10.6 added stack
frame protection to OS X which caused this issue to act up.

Cheers,

Re: [Fink-users] x11 missing

2009-09-28 Thread Eric
After forgetting, installing X11 from the installer on the CD, and running
fink selfupdate, I receive the message
WARNING: you have an incomplete X11 installation.
  See http://finkproject.org/faq/usage-packages.php#special-x11-debug for
details on repairing it.

The webpage (and the other which it first refers me to) may help but seem
10.4/5-specific - possibly still compatible with 10.6 for all I know. As to
X11SDK, though, I am able to find that package in the Terminal using the
instructions you give here, but not in the Finder- no option to show hidden
folders seems to exist anywhere. I don't know how to decompress, open and
execute a package and its contents in the Terminal yet, or I don't think I
do... (fink X11SDK?)
Thanks again, this now feels almost done somehow.

 It's in
 /Volumes/Mac OS X Install DVD/System/Installation/Packages/X11User.pkg.

You might be able to just use Optional Installs.mpkg in the Optional
Installs folder and just select X11 from the list when running the
 installer.

 There's also
 /Volumes/Mac OS X Install DVD/Optional
 Installs.localized/Packages/X11SDK.pkg

Re: [Fink-users] libdbi-drivers-mysql fails to build with autoconfig problems

You have another version of autoconf. If you want to use that,
you should regenerate the build system entirely.
 aclocal.m4:14: the top level

I'm out of my league here, so I might be completely wrong. Do you
have any of the autoconf environmental variables set in your
profile? (AUTOCONF, AUTOHEADER, AUTOMAKE, ACLOCAL, AUTOPOINT,
 LIBTOOLIZE, M4).

I was experimenting with AUTOCONF and LIBTOOLIZE variables before but
that was in the different session and the current session of free of
them.

 set | egrep AUTO|ACLOCAL|LIB|M4
PERL5LIB=/sw/lib/perl5:/sw/lib/perl5/darwin

 egrep AUTO|ACLOCAL|LIB|M4 /etc/profile

Just to make sure your fink is doing what it should, what does
 which autoconf
 give you?

If it is /sw/bin/autoconf, how about
 autoconf --version
 ?

 which autoconf
/sw/bin/autoconf

 autoconf --version
autoconf (GNU Autoconf) 2.63

 which autoreconf
/sw/bin/autoreconf

 autoreconf --version
autoreconf (GNU Autoconf) 2.63

fink install libdbi-drivers-mysql still fails

I'm really confused as to how autoreconf can give you a wrong
regeneration of aclocal.m4, especially since the only version of
autoconf 2.6x that shows up for me in OS X 10.6/ fink x86_64 is
1:2.63-2. 2.61 shouldn't even be reachable for fink if the builddep
 is met.

Well, it seems that I have 2.61 version of autoconf installation in
the /usr/bin directory as well. I think those are Apple provided,
because they are in the /Developer/usr/bin/ directory as well. So, I
just linked the /usr/bin/auto* files to the 2-63 version in the /sw/
bin/ directory:

# ls -la /usr/bin/auto*
lrwxr-xr-x 1 root wheel 21 Sep 29 07:56 /usr/bin/autoconf - /
sw/bin/autoconf-2.63
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root wheel 13414 May 18 21:27 /usr/bin/autoconf-2.61
lrwxr-xr-x 1 root wheel 23 Sep 29 08:00 /usr/bin/autoheader - /
sw/bin/autoheader-2.63
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root wheel8371 May 18 21:27 /usr/bin/autoheader-2.61
lrwxr-xr-x 1 root wheel 21 Sep 29 08:00 /usr/bin/autom4te - /
sw/bin/autom4te-2.63
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root wheel 30507 May 18 21:27 /usr/bin/autom4te-2.61
-rwxr-xr-x 2 root wheel 232943 May 18 21:26 /usr/bin/automake
-rwxr-xr-x 2 root wheel 232943 May 18 21:26 /usr/bin/automake-1.10
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root wheel 74064 Jul 11 10:09 /usr/bin/automator
lrwxr-xr-x 1 root wheel 23 Sep 29 07:58 /usr/bin/autoreconf - /
sw/bin/autoreconf-2.63
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root wheel 20019 May 18 21:27 /usr/bin/autoreconf-2.61
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root wheel 17002 May 18 21:27 /usr/bin/autoscan
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root wheel 33472 May 18 21:27 /usr/bin/autoupdate

Now the fink install libdbi-drivers-mysql fails with different problem:

libtool: You should recreate aclocal.m4 with macros from libtool 2.2.6
libtool: and run autoconf again.
make[3]: *** [dbd_mysql.lo] Error 63

Could it be that there's confusion between /usr/bin/libtool and /usr/
bin/glibtool? The version info is

 libtool -V
Apple Computer, Inc. version cctools-750

 glibtool --version
ltmain.sh (GNU libtool) 2.2.6
Written by Gordon Matzigkeit g...@gnu.ai.mit.edu, 1996

However, setting LIBTOOLIZE=/usr/bin/glibtoolize and LIBTOOL=/usr/bin/
libtool doesn't seem to make any difference. The hack to link /usr/bin/
libtool to /usr/bin/glibtool doesn't work either. The whole fink
install output follows:

 export LIBTOOL=/usr/bin/glibtool

 export LIBTOOLIZE=/usr/bin/glibtoolize
