[Fink-users] Building kdelibs4-mac
I've been building kdelibs4 on 10.6 (64-bit) and I'm making some progress. The first problem is that cmake incorrectly detects the existence of fdatasync (rather than fsync) so compilation fails early on in kdecore. Removing the HAVE_FDATASYNC #define from config.h after the configure runs fixes that. I'd don't know how cmake gets confused, but I guess that's a workaround. Next up is that the tests are picking up the wrong kdeversion.h. build/kdecore/kdeversion.h is correctly generated with definitions of stuff like KDE_VERSION_STRING, but the compiler is pulling in the kdeversion.h from the build root, which has empty definitions (I compiled the failing file with -E to see what it was pulling in). The failure manifests itself as: /sw64/src/fink.build/kdelibs4-mac-4.2.4-2/kdelibs-4.2.4/kdecore/tests/klibloadertest4_module.cpp:26: error: ‘KDE_VERSION_MAJOR’ was not declared in this scope /sw64/src/fink.build/kdelibs4-mac-4.2.4-2/kdelibs-4.2.4/kdecore/tests/klibloadertest4_module.cpp:26: error: ‘KDE_VERSION_MINOR’ was not declared in this scope /sw64/src/fink.build/kdelibs4-mac-4.2.4-2/kdelibs-4.2.4/kdecore/tests/klibloadertest4_module.cpp:26: error: ‘KDE_VERSION_RELEASE’ was not declared in this scope /sw64/src/fink.build/kdelibs4-mac-4.2.4-2/kdelibs-4.2.4/kdecore/tests/klibloadertest4_module.cpp:26: error: ‘KDE_VERSION_STRING’ was not declared in this scope make[2]: *** [kdecore/tests/CMakeFiles/klibloadertestmodule4.dir/klibloadertest4_module.o] Error 1 make[1]: *** [kdecore/tests/CMakeFiles/klibloadertestmodule4.dir/all] Error 2 Deleting the kdeversion.h in the build room seems to bypass the problem as the compiler then picks up the newly generated one. A similar thing happens to kdefakes.h, manifesting itself around 30% of the way through the build when it fails to pick up the builtin initgroups(). So I'd offer a patch, but I don't know enough about the KDE build process and cmake to hack one. I guess I could learn, but I suspect that there are a bunch of people who can solve this faster than I could locate the build howto on the interweb! Sorry for being lazy ... Anyway, now I'm stuffed: [ 17%] Building CXX object kdeui/CMakeFiles/kdeui.dir/util/kkeyserver_mac.o /sw64/src/fink.build/kdelibs4-mac-4.2.4-2/kdelibs-4.2.4/kdeui/util/kkeyserver_mac.cpp: In function ‘void KKeyServer::updateScancodes()’: /sw64/src/fink.build/kdelibs4-mac-4.2.4-2/kdelibs-4.2.4/kdeui/util/kkeyserver_mac.cpp:72: error: ‘KLGetCurrentKeyboardLayout’ was not declared in this scope /sw64/src/fink.build/kdelibs4-mac-4.2.4-2/kdelibs-4.2.4/kdeui/util/kkeyserver_mac.cpp:78: error: ‘KLGetKeyboardLayoutProperty’ was not declared in this scope /sw64/src/fink.build/kdelibs4-mac-4.2.4-2/kdelibs-4.2.4/kdeui/util/kkeyserver_mac.cpp:89: error: ‘KeyTranslate’ was not declared in this scope Has that been removed in 10.6? I'm trying to install libdbi-drivers-mysql 0.8.3-1 package on MacOSX 10.6.1 with 64 bit fink source distribution. The compilation of the package fails with the following error message. It seems that there's a confusion between /usr/bin/autoconf and /sw/ bin/autoconf and the package fails to generate its configure script. It also fails when I download the original http://sourceforge.net/projects/libdbi/files/libdbi/libdbi-0.8.3/libdbi-0.8.3.tar.gz package and try to do LIBTOOLIZE=glibtoolize ./autogen.sh as instructed in the README.osx file. Should I just remove the Apple provided /usr/bin/autoconf (and other auto* tools) or is there a cleaner way to force using newer version of the /sw/bin/autoconf tools? Exporting the AUTOCONF=/sw/ bin/autoconf environment variable doesn't seem to do the trick. It works as-is for me on 10.6 x86_64, so I'm not too sure my attempted fix will work. They're separate files. /usr/X11/lib/libXrender.la was present in the official X11 distribution on 10.5 until Xcode 3.1, and was also present in the unofficial Xquartz X11 distribution. You should be able to work around this by running: sudo -s find /sw/lib -name *.la | xargs rm That will ensure that you don't have any references to .la files under /usr/X11 (or /usr, for that matter) that don't exist now on 10.6. grr... because of a typo i erased most of /sw/lib... so i went the whole 9 yards and threw all of /sw away. but now it seems to compile. ;) thanks for the pointer though!!! -- Come build with us! [Fink-users] id3v2 run-time error on 10.6/x86_64: patch
Hello, Casper. Richard, the submitter of that bug report about id3v2 crashing during run-time on 10.6/x86_64, has submitted a patch to the bugs tracker: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detailaid=2858187group_id=17203atid=117203 Submitter comment: It turns out this is a known bug that has been fixed in the CVS version: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detailaid=697951group_id=979atid=100979 http://id3lib.cvs.sourceforge.net/viewvc/id3lib/id3lib-stable/src/mp3_parse.cpp?view=markup I've attached the patch to fix the issue. It looks like 10.6 added stack frame protection to OS X which caused this issue to act up. Cheers, -- monipol http://finkers.wordpress.com -- Come build with us! Re: [Fink-users] x11 missing
After forgetting, installing X11 from the installer on the CD, and running fink selfupdate, I receive the message WARNING: you have an incomplete X11 installation. See http://finkproject.org/faq/usage-packages.php#special-x11-debug for details on repairing it. The webpage (and the other which it first refers me to) may help but seem 10.4/5-specific - possibly still compatible with 10.6 for all I know. As to X11SDK, though, I am able to find that package in the Terminal using the instructions you give here, but not in the Finder- no option to show hidden folders seems to exist anywhere. I don't know how to decompress, open and execute a package and its contents in the Terminal yet, or I don't think I do... (fink X11SDK?) Thanks again, this now feels almost done somehow.
