Re: [Flexradio] FlexRadio Digest, Vol 131, Issue 5

2016-03-11 Thread Tim Ellison, W4TME
Just to be very clear, running a FLEX-3000 at the 192 ksps sampling rate
using the forked version of the PowerSDR software is not supportedby
FlexRadio Systems. Use at your own risk.

I don't understand all the hurtles for a Firewire port to work, but perhaps
look at the CPU utilization. If your CPU is running over 20% at 96 Kb sample

FX-8350 4G 8 Core processor, power SDR runs at 2-4% CPU load.

In fairness to Flex though, those that "brick" a Flex using 3rd party software
should not try to get free technical support from Flex to resolve the issue.

The FLEX-3000 will not operate at 192 K sampling rate. You cannot set
this from PowerSDR, so you must be using the Firewire control panel
which is not recommended.

I got the same alert about needing a firmware update. Since my original

After reinstalling everything the radio works fine. The issue, I think, is
that 19.2k buffer is not supported on the 3000 but the KE5NS version
allowed me to select it.
Anyway back in business with both versions. Thanks for your reply and the

I have the Flex 3000. I downloaded the KE9NS latest release.
It started up just fine. I started going through the recommendations for
max
operation.
I changed the audio buffer to 192000 and PowerSDR crashed.
Now every time I start PowerSDR I get the notice that a firmware update is
required before opening.
This happens with the original PowerSDR 2.7.2 version too.
I have said 'Yes' many times but each time I get this notice.
I completely uninstalled PowerSDR and reinstalled a fresh copy.
It went through the initial calibration step but then the firmware
upgrade notice continues to come up when trying to start PowerSDR.
Anyone have any clue as to what happened or how to fix it? Is it
bricked?Thanks,NE5IL
