Well, I for one am willing to take 48 hours of silence == no
objections == consensus == permission, so let's do it!

And thanks again, Cole, for your generous offer.

P.S. if you could supply us (me, Ben, Bruce) offline with contact
info, that would be great.

Technical would normally go to the DNS technical contact role at DynDNS.

As far as the owner goes... maybe keep that with Bruce, since he's
been the owner all along? I'd say put it with you, Cole, but it would
be nice to have an alternate contact in case you're on vacation or
something.

I don't recall there being one, but it's been years since I had to
use their system, so that could have changed. I seem to recall having
to jump through all sorts of hoops to get free of them. No surprise.

It would probably be best if I'm not any of those for the time being.

Well, so much for my original suggestion. :)

Otherwise I would recommend those be role addresses at the gnhlug.org
domain

No problem for the email addresses, but they want mailing and phone
contact info, too. It's generally a good idea to make those valid, in
case something goes wrong with the technical stuff. And given our
nebulous legal status in the first place, I do think it would be best
to have as much of a claim to ownership as possible.

If nobody else wants it and people are okay with the idea, I'd be
willing to take on the designated owner role.

Adding the -org list, since this transcends technical stuff.

 Almost certainly.

If we do want to move it, who to?

FWIW, I've used DomainMonger for the past few years with no
complaints. $17/year with discounts for multiple years. OMMV (Our
Mileage May Vary).

If we don't want to move it, who wants to pay for it ($35/yr)?

Even if we do move it, who wants to pay for it?I'm willing to
chip in, but should we pass a hat at the meetings or something like
that?

That just means you get all the DNS spam instead of Bruce. ;-)

Seriously: As long as GNHLUG lacks legal status, the domain must
remain the property of an individual (or a third-party organization,
but that seems even less likely). We just have to decide if we
trust Cole as much as Bruce.

Anyone here know where Cole lives? ;-)

*heh* Wouldn't help - you need a Sherpa to make it there anyway. ;)

The only reason I could think of not to have me do it is if somebody has
the idea of moving the domain name to a particular registrar that's
particularly well aligned with F/OSS philosophies. In that scenario, if
that registrar were reasonably priced, it might be nice to move it there
just to support them.

Barring that, I can't think of anything.

Sounds like the best thing to do until we have an organization, so
nobody's out of pocket again.

good points - and when we do have the org to renew the registration
next time around presumably multiple humans will have access. Just
another benefit.
