A high quality PDF of the entire catalog was available for download, I've
got it save but I'll see if I can find the original link...

I read that the museum fell through and she had to sell the collection to
pay off some debts associated with the project.

You are welcome Julie. From what I have read the sell bought 18 million. I
idn't hear about the sale until it was on the TV news Saturday. But I
idn't see TV or internet from June 1-12 because of my son's wedding. I did
ome backtracking to find out the info that I shared with you all. I have
oined Profiles in History Facebook page
ttp://www.facebook.com/ProfilesInHistory to receive updates. That is where
found out that the next sale is in Dec. Maybe we can order the next
atalog's sale when they announce its publication. I'll make sure to let
ou know when it is available. People are begging for another issue to be
ublished of the first catalog.
Maybe because of Debbie's age that she decided to sell the collection. She
s 77 years old. There are supposed to have been a museum for her
ollection near Dollywood. I guess it fell through.

From reading their FB page, there were several buyers. Some of Errol

lynn's costumes went to a small museum in Ohio. I was sad that I missed
he auction being a live feed online. My daughter-in-law saw some of the
uction on TVs in Vegas casinos.
A couple of people on my business FB page had bought the catalogs. I don't
now how they heard about the auction. I would have flown in to see the
ollection if I had known about it beforehand. There were three preview
ates and people were allowed to photograph the costumes.
The VA is going to exhibit a select few of the costumes. There is a page
n the beginning of the book.

2011-06-24 Thread Kate Bunting
I saw a news report on the forthcoming sale on BBC breakfast news before I read
the first discussion of it here (but I only get the list in digest form on my
work computer). I think they just said that her plan to set up a museum had
fallen through.

2011-06-23 Thread Ginni Morgan
I saw an article last weekend (just before the sale) about Debbie and her
collection. In the interview, she said she could no longer afford to care for
and store the costumes and the funding for the proposed museum just wasn't
coming through. Although she hates to give up the collection, she decided that
it just had to be done.

So why didn't she just sell a couple of the costumes and use the money to
fund the museum?

[h-cost] Jaw Dropping: Final Price for Debbie Reynolds costumes

2011-06-22 Thread Julie
Thanks for sharing the catalog and the final results link.

Was this not well publicized? I didn't hear a word beforehand.

I saw her collection when she had it at her casino in Vegas. It was awesome
and I loved it. It must have broken her heart to give up on her dream of a
costume museum.

Did anybody see the final total from the sale?
To whom are the profits going?
I couldn't see who bought the items. Did the collection get spread all over
the world or did a few museums get the bulk?
