RAE specific applications for mobile devices has also developed, and in a
second stage a program of differentiated podcast and broadcast programs on
local stations RAE other countries. It will also be available for download "on

Another new feature is the addition of 6 channels of Argentina music in each

[HCDX] Two of my favorite SW station loggings

2016-09-18 Thread Paul B. Walker, Jr.
All loggings made in Galena, Alaska which is the rural central part of the
state between Nome & Fairbanks)

Voice of Mongolia 12035kHz, 250KW to Asia (178 degree azimuth beam)

I heard this on August 1, 2016 from 0859UTC to 930UTC but only recorded
about 14 minutes of it. I used a Tecsun PL880 and Wellbrook ALA1530LNP to
pick this up. The directional/nulling capabilities and noise reduction
properties of the loop beat my 225 foot long wire on this.

Audio: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bqTox0j8P3k

Voice of Vietnam 12019kHz (to the far east, no beam or azimuth data listed
on shortwave.am)

I tuned into the english broadcast on 12019khz between 1150 and 1200UTC.
In the first instance, I heard a beautiful Vietnamese song play before a
female announcer came on to talk about culture and society in Vietnam. She
then played a short clip of a man talking about some kind of wood carving.

This clip was recorded at 1151UTC to 1153UTC using a Tecsun PL880 radio,
225 foot long wire with a signal pick up pattern facing east and west.
Other equipment used includes an EmTech ZM2 Antenna tuner and DX
Enigneering HF PreAmp. I would give a SINPO rating of 34345. I give the
overall rating a 5 because if it wasn't for the moderate amount of fading
and noise this would've been a beautifully listenable signal.

Audio here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dY2OdTG-IlY

My second recording on September 11th is from 1155UTC. The recording is of
the Voice of Vietnam female announcer on 12019kHz giving out the Voice of
Vietnam English Services contact information followed by a Vietnamese song
playing.

I would give this second recording a SINPO rating of 43233. The rating
changes a little bit because despite the signal in this second recording
being a bit stronger, there is a bit more fading present. My 225 foot long
wire antenna this time was oriented to provide a north & south pick up
pattern.

Audio here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dY2OdTG-IlY

Voice of Vietnam 7315kHz via WHRI Cypress Creek, SC (250kw to the
Carribean, 152 degree beam azimuth)

On September 8 I tuned into the Voice of Vietnam broadcast on 7315khz from
0120 to 0130UTC. The female announcer was talking about some Vietnamese
cultural festival that attracts alot of visitors, saying it is a must see
place to visit. After the segment was of, a Vietnamese song played.

I would give this broadcast a SINPO rating of 3. If there had been a
bit less noise and fading, this probably would've been a fairly easy signal
to listen to and understand.

A recording of the 7135khz from 0123 to 0128 UTC September 8th broadcast is
here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4lak8vKa2gY

Voice of Vietnam 7280khz, 100kw to Europe, 320 degree azimuth beam

I heard the 7280khz english broadcast from 1622 to 1630UTC on September
6th. One song played for several minutes, a female announcer came on saying
it was someones very first song and then a Vietnamese song played after
the announcer said goodbye and ended the show. I would give this a SINPO
rating of 32333.

I gave it that rating because the atmospheric noise combined with what
sounded like interference from another radio station made this a somewhat
hard broadcast to understand/listen to/get exact details from. My 225 foot
long wire antenna was oriented to pick up with an east & west pick up
pattern this time.

Here is my 7280khz/1622 to 1630UTC September 6th recording:

[HCDX] Voice Of Mongolia 12015/12035khz

2016-09-18 Thread Paul B. Walker, Jr.
Has anyone else here logged The Voice of Mongolia on 12015khz or 12035khz
and actually gotten the promised QSL card?

I have logged 12035khz from here in Alaska half a dozen or more times, and
have had each of my reception reports since late June read on the air,
promising a QSL card will be sent.

It's been about 3 months and I have yet to get anything. Mail from other
stations in that part of the world usually get to me in 2-4 weeks.

Yeah, I know.. I'm kinda like the pot calling the kettle black in that I
owe alot of people QSL cards for my shortwave rock n roll broadcasts. I
will get to them, eventually.. I promise.

** CHINA. 9500, Sept 18 at 1305, S7-S9 signal with nice Chinese instrumental
classical music, i.e. the Sunday-evening serious music hour from CNR1. Per Aoki
this frequency is legitimate, 0900-1805, 100 kW, 165 degrees from Shijiazhuang
723 site at 38-04N/114-28E.

Same on 7470, which is illegitimate, a jammer atop some talk, Sept 18 at 1309,
which is RFA in Tibetan via MONGOLIA at 11-13 (plus VOA Cantonese via Thailand
at 13-14). How fortunate CNR1 and its listeners are! To have countless
additional transmissions employed to block evil broadcasts from abroad capable
of turning the repressed Chinese giga-citizenry against the dictatorial
Communist regime (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** KURDISTAN [non]. 11600, Sept 18 at 1416, presumed Kurdish talk at S8 to
S9+10. Ivo Ivanov says the 13-17 UT segment of Denge Kurdistanye is now due
east from Secretbrod site = Kostinbrod, BULGARIA, a transmitter which does not
harmonicize on 23200. I prefer the mostly-music hour, before or after this?
(Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** NETHERLANDS [non]. 7780, Sunday Sept 18 at 0600, very poor WRMI signal
toward Europe but registering S9 with double preamp on the R75, can barely hear
PCJ Radio International opening, and at 0601 the classic Radio Nederland
carillon interval signal, for the third two-hour special `From the Archives of
Radio Netherlands`, this episode to present drama. The repeat for North America
is scheduled UT Monday Sept 19 at 0100-0300 on 7570, which was occupied 24
hours earlier by World Music instead of Brother Scare (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX
LISTENING DIGEST)

** OKLAHOMA. 930, Sept 18 at 1252, WKY OKC`s undominatable (indominable?) banda
music is suffering IADs every few seconds (intermittent audio dropouts). No one
aware at station? No one at station? (Glenn Hauser, Enid, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** SOLOMON ISLANDS. 5020, Sept 18 after 1300, a JBA carrier from SIBC, running
late. Ron Howard, California, was still hearing it at 1415, ``must be headed
for a 24-hour broadcast``, and Jim Young still had it at 1432 (Glenn Hauser,
OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** SOUTH CAROLINA [non]. 11810, Sept 18 at 1418, Brother HyStairical talking
about his satellite channels, S6 to S9, not // 11825 WRMI, which is steady S9,
but more punch to the 11810 modulation. Then I time the delay: 11810 is 65
seconds behind 11825 (& better 15440 WRMI). Ivo Ivanov reports: ``schedule of
SPL Secretbrod via old, over 60 years Soviet transmitter 100 kW: Brother
HySTAIRical: 1300-1655 on 11810 SCB 100 kW / 126 deg to N/ME English + 2nd
harmonic 23620``, i.e. BULGARIA (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** UGANDA [non]. 15240, Sunday Sept 18 at 1618, VG signal presumed in lo-fi
Luganda talk, R. Munansi via WWRB. Some sporadic E short-skip must be boosting
this often JBA signal; 28 MHz DXmap shows a few paths open across the USA, and
no doubt more of them down on 15 MHz (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

** U S A. 1480, Sept 18 at 1239 UT, South Asian songs, so KBXD Dallas is back
on the air this morning, making 160/minute SAH (= two

Thanks for the reminder about 15320 kHz Eamonn.
Match thow-in is at 3.30pm UK/Irish time (14.30 UTC).

RTE have also responded to reception reports sent to i...@rte.ie for their
Mon-Fri broadcast (currently on on 5820 kHz).
RTE verie-signer used to be Bernie Pope in Dublin - does anyone know if she
still confirms reports for RTE?

By the way, the RTE webpage for how to listen to the match
https://www.rte.ie/sport/gaa/2016/0917/817197-all-ireland-final/
still shows frequencies used last year (i.e. 9470 and 17540)!
