Hey guy, just wanted to see if anyone else has seen this.

When joining a server and there is an issue with the map downloading to
 the
client. (sv_downloadurl is setup and working properly, has been for
 years)

You know the error we have all seen when when the map differs from the
server, even tho it was just downloaded. the same download to another
 client
  worked fine.
Anyway, i was dropped after downloading the map, and a small window pops
 up
say the maps is different. i leaned over to my other computer to double
check that the file was on our speedy downloads. before i could even get
logged into the ftp account (on the other computer) to check, the popup
window on my game computer went away, and i joined the server
 automatically.

Re: [hlds_linux] Half-Life 1 Dedicated server update released

2011-10-03 Thread Alfred Reynolds
You only need to use a manual heapsize command if the developer of the mod you
are playing (or a map maker for that mod) tells you to add it, it is generally
not needed. I made the heapsize change to help out a 3rd party mod that wanted
larger assets in game and were hitting the heap limit.

 Hello Alfred,

 Thanks by your work

In the new release your announce :

 - Increased max heapsize of 128mbyte for the dedicated server, default
 to
 40mb still

I have a computer in linux with runnings servers half-life mod counter
 strike

When start a server with mod counter-strike (cstrike), I send this
 instruction

 ./hlds_run -game cstrike +map de_dust2 +ip 82.98.131.17 +port 27123
 +maxplayers 20 -restart -autoupdate +exec server.cfg +sys_ticrate 1001
 -pingboost 3

It's necessary add the command heapsize 128 or this command is only for
 to
play the players ?. If it is better heapsize, is possible increment
 value
 128 ?

 Thank you for your attention

 Ricochet and
  Death match classic.

The update is optional but contains exploit fixes so it is highly
  recommended.

This release is setting public the beta we have been running

  - Added sv_filetransfermaxsize to limit the size of a file the game
 server
will try to send to a client
  - Added halflife.wad and xeon.wad to the not allowed to download to a
  client list
  - Increased max heapsize of 128mbyte for the dedicated server,
 default to
  40mb still
  - Added sv_allow_dlfile, if set to 1 and sv_downloadurl is set still
 allow
  local downloads
  - changed motd_write to only work if the process is running an active
server and the command is from the console
  - prevented several client redirection exploits when connecting to a
 server
  - Changed Non-sprite set to glow!\n debug console output to be dev
 only
  - Implemented new crash reporting system, now with Linux support.
