Re: [hlds_linux] HLDS Masterserver Problems
Try running the update on the server manually. I have this error message sometimes and it's because the -autoupdate part of the startup script can't do the update for some reason. To get round it, break out of the server and step one directory back (cd ..) then type: ./steam -command update -game gamename here -dir . (minus the quotes) Once completed, go back intot he folder and run the server startup. You should have more joy with that approach. If it still fails to start the server or update, try going to the .steam folder (linux,) delete ClientRegistry.blob and run the update again. We run a TF2 server and these methods always get us back online. Hope this helps :) --- On Wed, 30/12/09, Arne Guski sa...@server-sales.de wrote: From: Arne Guski sa...@server-sales.de Subject: [hlds_linux] HLDS Masterserver Problems To: hlds_linux@list.valvesoftware.com Date: Wednesday, 30 December, 2009, 15:12 Why is there no word from Valve to this: http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1055641 I am having the exact same Problem, if i remove the masterserver 72.165.61.189:27010 i wont be getting the (faulty) restart notice but the server will also not show up in hlsw and other tools. This sadly does not fix the Problem for good, ive disabled autoupdate on all our servers, still some get the MasterServer restart request .. for whatever unknown reason. Cant be to hard to fix but valve seems to ignore the problem since the original post on the steam forum is quite dated. If you disable the autoupdate, it will not restart your server, you can ignore it, it works fine. - Original Message - From: Arne Guski sa...@server-sales.de To: Half-Life dedicated Linux server mailing list hlds_linux@list.valvesoftware.com Sent: Wednesday, December 30, 2009 5:25 PM Subject: Re: [hlds_linux] HLDS Masterserver Problems This sadly does not fix the Problem for good, ive disabled autoupdate on all our servers, still some get the MasterServer restart request .. for whatever unknown reason. Perhaps you could... use other master servers? using 72.165.61.151:27011 72.165.61.136:27012 I've had no issues. I also haven't been auto-assigned to either of the IPs you list at all recently, are you manually setting these? - Neph On 12/30/2009 09:12 AM, Arne Guski wrote: Why is there no word from Valve to this: http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1055641 I am having the exact same Problem, if i remove the masterserver 72.165.61.189:27010 i wont be getting the (faulty) restart notice but the server will also not show up in hlsw and other tools. Re: [hlds_linux] HLDS Masterserver Problems
My bad, reading comprehension ftw. There are other hl1 master servers, though - 69.28.151.162, for instance. If the issue is bad master servers, there should be others to use. If servers are being auto-assigned a dead server, that's certainly a problem. - Neph On 12/30/2009 01:50 PM, Richard Eid wrote: This topic involved an issue with GoldSource based servers, not SRCDS. -Richard Eid On Wed, Dec 30, 2009 at 2:40 PM, Nephyrin Zeynephy...@doublezen.netwrote: Perhaps you could... use other master servers? using 72.165.61.151:27011 72.165.61.136:27012 I've had no issues.
