Its especially easy if you havent previously experienced social injustice. Ive had it easy most of my life. Opportunities for upward mobilitysocially, financially, and career-wiseknock on my door on a semi-regular basis. My familys financial situation has always been more than satisfactory. Coming from a multi-cultural background, Ive managed to fit in almost anywhere I go in the world, despite the fact that I am obviously Muslim from the way I dress. For a long time I also had dual American/Egyptian citizenship until I renounced my US passport in 1998 to protest against US policies in Iraq at the time. Since then, traveling has become more and more difficult. There was no way on earth I could have foretold the terrorist attacks of 9/11 that would lead to, among other things, extensive and terribly long background checks before granting visas to anyone from the Middle East wishing to travel to Europe or the United States in particular. There was no way I could have foretold that renouncing my US citizenship would turn me into a second-rate citizen of the world. Stage One: Excuses I had never conceived that I would be treated as a second-rate citizen of the world simply because of where I come from. On November 9, I was exposed to my own dose of social injustice. I was on my way from Cairo to Budapest to attend the World Science Forum, where I was invited to speak on science journalism. My journey took me to Milano, where I normally would have had an hour and a half of transit time. Due to a fog at Milano Airport, my flight from Cairo was delayed. Airline staff in Cairo insisted that I had nothing to worry about and that my flight from Milano to Budapest would be informed to wait for me. Instead, and for the first time in my long experience of air travel, this particular flight to Budapest decided to leave the gate minutes before its departure time, leaving behind not only me, but at least 10 other passengers from other connecting flights. Needless to say, when something like this happens, its a bummer. But it happens. I have been able, in my mind, to find many excuses for the airline to explain why it left earlier than scheduled, leaving behind those passengers. Maybe it was the fog that plagued Milano airport for daysas I discovered when I returned from Budapest four days afterwards on my return trip to Cairo. Perhaps the fog had suddenly let up and the pilot was anxious to leave under the safest conditions possible. Perhaps the airline just likes to be very prompt in sticking to its departure times (which I can assure you is not the case since not one of the flights I took with them left on timefar from it). Maybe the flight attendants wanted to get this flight over with as quickly as possible and just go home. I can even understand that. I cant understand, however, the differentiation of treatment between me and the other passengers who missed the plane that followed. All the other passengers happened to be either American or European. All were provided a nights accommodation at the airport hotel. Since I did not have a visa that would allow me to leave the airport, and there was none to be bought, I was told that my only solution was to spend the next 12 hours in the airport until the next flight to Budapest departed. Dawning Realizations One day you will come to Egypt and see how we treat foreigners. I asked for any sort of compensation: using one of the airlines lounges, having my ticket upgraded to business class, or just getting directed to a decent transit lounge to stretch out and rest. Occupation with Side Issues:
Intellectual shallowness and lack of religious insight result in an
intense
interest in
marginal issues like giving excessive importance to the growing of
beard,
the wearing of cloths below the ankle, so on and so forth. What is more
dangerous is attempting to impose these on others. Sometimes what is
fard
(obligatory) is superseded by what is recommended, and this is against
the
spirit of Islam.
Excessive Extension of Prohibitions:
An extremist, due to lack of knowledge, may be seen to force others to
drink
while sitting. Since the hadeeth, which permits drinking water while
standing, are more authentic as cited by Bukhari. It is mainly due to
lack
of thorough knowledge of Islamic Jurisprudence and of Shariah.
Emphasis on Allegorical Texts:
Ignoring the Qur'anic verses which are straightforward and clear and
giving
more stress on the allegorical ones is another cause of extremism.

Lack of Respect for Specialization:
One of the causes of extremism is a reluctance to listen to people who
hold
different views. Extremists have little interest in dialogues, as they
never
imagine that their views could be tested in the light of others, and be
either contradicted or refuted. They may have received SEMI-knowledge.
These
devout young people ignore the fact that if they want to study Shariah,
they
must SEEK help of reliable Muslim scholars.
Lack of Insight into History, Reality and the Sunnah of Allah:
Some people continue to seek or demand the impossible and the
unavailable,
want to change the whole fabric of society by illusory means and
imaginary
methods. Prophet (SAWS) spent 13 years in Makkah, performed salah and
tawaf
on the premises of Ka'bah, though it was surrounded at that time by
more
than 360 idols.
Two Important Sunan:
1. Gradation: Allah created the universe in stages. In dawah,
initially,
Prophet (SAWS) gradually introduced the basic teachings of Islam.
2. To achieve targeted goals, giving the allowance of due time is
important.
Extremists seem to ignore these two important ways.
Islam: A Stranger in Its Homeland:
Perhaps the most alarming and unbearable factor for any ardent and
devout
Muslim is that in many Muslim countries, perversion, corruption, and
falsehood are rampant. Their opinion is that all the rulers of Arab
Muslim
countries are mere Pieces On A Chessboards and puppets in the hands of
the
secret powers that rule the world. It is IMPOSSIBLE for Muslims to be
indifferent to the tragic mishaps that beset this Ummah (or to watch
their
brothers in Islam being SLAUGHTERED like animals, and their sisters
being
abused and raped). This state of affairs also contribute to the
generating
of extremist views.
Impediments Imposed On Da'wah And Du'at:
This cause of extremism pertains to the freedom to CALL people to
Islam.
Islam does not want a Muslim to work alone. Islam not only teaches a
person
to be pious and righteous but also enjoins them to try to reform
others. So
Muslims regard this vocation of calling people to Islam as a
religiously
mandated duty. The gravest sins committed by some of the Muslim
Governments
are the censorship on the
freedom to call people to Islam as a deen and a system of beliefs and a
way
of life. The intimidation of du'at and of those who call for the
application
of shariah, the establishment of the Islamic state, the unity of the
Ummah,
the liberation of the Muslim land, and the support of all Islamic
causes
leave few options open for Muslim youths other than desperate measures.
This
pressure generates extremism. Is it logical, therefore, to blame the
youth
who - despairing of being allowed to call for Islam with wisdom and
nice
preaching - have resorted to violent means? In Egypt, in 1954 and 1965,
devout Muslims were subjected to nightmarish, hair-raising,
unbelievable
tortures in the military prisons: they were lashed, exposed to flames,
their
flesh burned with cigarettes; men and women were being hung upside down
like
slaughtered animals, while the executioners took turn scorching them
until
their bodies swelled up in heaps of blood and pus. Why? Why are they
subjected to this torture? What crime have they committed?
... these cause extremism.

man violates it and disturbs its equilibrium in every field of lifeand

proportion, only then "justice" will prevail - the forerunner of peace. No
Justice no peace."Chaos" and "insecurity"is the net result of human
innovations, disturbances and usurping other's right and privileges.
So, if humanity as a whole follows Allah's given guidance which is the
Qur'an, the source of your information, only thenJustice will prevail not
through "spying" on others and denying human rights at home and abroad.

President Bush to get his course of action corrected if he is really sincere to

They meet at salaat al-fajr and salaat al-'asr, then those who had stayed with you at night ascend, and are asked by the One Who knows better than they: 'How did you find My servants?' They say, 'We left them when they were praying, and we came to them when they were praying.' " (Reported by al-Bukhaari, al-Fath, 2/33).Do not
stop the maid servants of Allah from going to the mosques of Allah." (Muwatta of Imam Malik) "When the wife of one of you asks about going to the mosque, do not stop her." (Bukhari) Prophet Muhammad said, "He who unfairly treats a non-Muslim who keepsa peace treaty with Muslims, or undermines his rights, or burdens himbeyond his capacity, or takes something from him without his consent;then I am his opponent on the Day of Judgment" [Abu Dawud and Al-Bayhaqi]The Prophet also said, "He who harms a non-Muslim who keeps a peacetreaty with Muslims has harmed me, and he who harms me has harmed Allah"
[At-Tabarani in Al-Awsat]And he said, "He who kills a non-Muslim who keeps a peace treaty withthe Muslims will not smell the scent of Heaven, though its scent canbe traced to as far as a march of 40 years" [Imam Ahmad and Al-Bukhari in Al-Jizyah] The Prophet (Blessings and Peace be upon him) related that Allah said: "When I have taken away from someone, a most beloved one, and then he(patiently) expects a reward (from Me), I will compensate him with Paradise." [Bukhari] authentic Hadith related by Tirmizi, the Prophet(Blessings and Peace be upon him) said: "Verily, when Allah takes away the son of one of His believing slaves, He says to the Angels: 'Have you taken the son of my believing slave? They answer, 'Yes', He then says, 'You took(away) the fruit of his heart?' They answer, 'He praised you and said, 'Verily, to
Allah do we all belong, and to Him is our return.' Allah orders them, 'Build for my slave a house in Paradise, and call it the house of Praise." "Only those who are patient shall receive their rewards in full, without reckoning." [Qur'an 39:10] The Prophet(Blessings and Peace be upon him) said: "Verily, The greatness of the reward is from the greatness of the test. And indeed, if Allah loves a people, He tests them. Whoever is contented, for him is pleasure, and whoever is angry, upon him is wrath." [Tirmizi]

Sleeping and missing salaat al-fajr A brother complained: "I miss salaat al-Ffjr on most days, and I hardly ever pray it at the right time. Usually I do not wake up until after the sun has risen, or at best I wake up after the time for praying fajr in jamaa'ah. I have tried to wake up at the right time, with no success. What is the solution to this problem?" All praise be to Allaah. The solution to this problem, like others, has two aspects: theoretical and practical. The theoretical aspect may be further broken down into two points: (1) The Muslim should know the great status of salaat al-fajr in the sight of
Allaah, may He be glorified. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: "Whoever prays the dawn prayer in congregation, it is as if he had prayed the whole night long." (Muslim, p. 454, no. 656; al-Tirmidhi, 221). The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) also said: "The most burdensome prayers for the hypocrites are salaat al-'isha' and salaat al-fajr, but if they only knew what they contain, they would come even if they had to crawl." (Reported by Imaam Ahmad, al-Musnad, 2/424; Saheeh al-Jaami', 133). "Whoever prays fajr is under the protection of Allaah. Do not put yourselves in a situation where Allaah has to call you to account for your negligence." (Reported by al-Tabaraani, 7/267;
Saheeh al-Jaami', no. 6344). "Angels come to you in shifts by night and by day. They meet at salaat al-fajr and salaat al-'asr, then those who had stayed with you at night ascend, and are asked by the One Who knows better than they: 'How did you find My servants?' They say, 'We left them when they were praying, and we came to them when they were praying.' " (Reported by al-Bukhaari, al-Fath, 2/33). "The best of prayers in the sight of Allaah is the dawn prayer on Friday, in congregation." (Reported by Abu Na'eem in al-Hilyah , 7/207, and in al-Silsilah al-Saheehah, 1566). According to a saheeh hadeeth: "Whoever prays al-Bardayn will enter Paradise ." (Reported by al-Bukhaari, al-Fath, 2/52). Al-Bardayn are fajr and 'asr. (2) The Muslim should understand the seriousness of missing salaat al-fajr. This is explained by the hadeeth already quoted: "The most burdensome prayers for the hypocrites are salaat al-'isha' and salaat al-Fajr
" In al-Saheeh, it is reported that Ibn 'Umar (may Allaah be pleased with them both) said: "If we did not see a person at fajr and 'isha' prayers, we would think badly of him." (Reported by al-Tabaraani in al-Mu'jam al-Kabeer, 12/271. Al-Haythami said, the men of al-Tabaraani are muwaththaqoon (trustworthy). al-Majma', 2/40). They thought badly of a person who was absent from these two prayers because regular performance of them is an
indication of a person's faith and a measure of his sincerity. Other prayers may be easier to do because they are more convenient to a person's circumstances and fit in with his work and his sleep, but only those who are determined and sincere, people whom one hopes are good people, will be able to pray fajr and 'isha' regularly in congregation. Another hadeeth which indicates the seriousness of missing salaat al-fajr is: "Whoever prays fajr is under the protection of Allaah. Do not put yourselves in a situation where Allaah has to call you to account for your negligence, because whoever finds himself in this situation will be sorted out and then thrown on his face in the Fire of Hell." (Reported by Muslim, p. 454). These two points are sufficient to guarantee that the
Muslim's heart will burn with the concern to ensure that he does not miss fajr. We will provide references to Muslim sites and their view about Muhammad and why he is a true prophet. But in those presentations a number of issues are regularly left out. A true evaluation has to deal with all the facts and cannot be satisfied with a selective presentation.
