Hello Horst,

I didn't see any new info in your answer to Zachary's question.

Zachary (aka Me, Myself and I) makes two assumptions that are wrong:
- itext 2.1.7 was non-payment: that is not true. In the past companies
have bought a commercial license because they wanted to be released from
the requirements of the F/OSS license.
- he expects to get help about RTF parser. RTF parsing functionality
was never finished and was abandoned by its developer (who wasn't
afiliated with any of the iText companies at all). Currently, I don't
know anybody who is willing to offer RTF support for any iText library.

Zachary used to be blacklisted because of misbehavior on the mailing
list in 2010. He apologized and his account was restored. Unfortunately,
he still confuses free software with gratis software, spreading
misconceptions about the nature of open source as a business model.

We think that, in spite of the fact that he has contacted sales more
than once, he's not interested in doing business with us at all.

My version of Google tells me that there are plenty of RTF to XML parsers
available, some of them with a commercial-compatible F/OSS licence, some
even written in Java. I suggest that Zachary investigates that path first,
and once he has parsed his RTF into XML, he can use iText to create a PDF.

I don't see a problem with using two different libraries to solve two
different problems.

Subject: [iText-questions] Question about itext with dynamic xfa forms

Hello itext users.

since around 2 years I work with itext and find it very helpful.
But now I have come across a problem regarding regarding dynamic xfa forms and
hope that someone can help me.

I filled a pdf form based on a dynamic xfa form (with extended rights for
Reader user) using iText. When the content of the PDF is changed, the digital
signature becomes unvalid, so that the rights are no longer vaild.

Therefore Adobe Reader (9.0) does not save the PDF. I get the following error
message:

This document contained certain rights to enable special features in Adobe
Reader. The document has been changed since it was created and these rights are
 no longer valid. Please contact the author for the original version of this
document.

I tried the following workaround with itext:

PdfStamper stamper = new PdfStamper(reader, new FileOutputStream(RESULT), '\0',
true)
(http://1t3xt.info/tutorials/faq.php?branch=faq.itextnode=enabled_form),

but I doesn't seem to work.

As a result, the rights are valid but the content of the PDF wasn't changed.

Is there any workaround for that or does it only work with static xfa
forms/acroforms?

Many thanks for you support!

Read Chapter 16 of 'iText in Action'.

of radio buttons.

 2) My existing pdf contains two radio buttons and I am able to set them.

If you see the 'cross' sign, that's because the PDF was
designed to show the cross sign. That IS the 'right' sign.
If you want the PDF to show a bullet or something like that,
you'll have to ask the designer of the PDF to design the
radio buttons so that they show a bullet instead of a cross.

Hi,

This is sanku. I have got problem.

1) My existing pdf contains more than two radio buttons and I want to

Identify what? The name, the possible values, the position?

only the

'Cross' sign. My question is how can I show the 'right' sign?

The sign is defined in the PDF. If it shows the cross then it's the right
sign. You may have other signs defined if it's a checkbox.

Hi,

I use your library Itext in a project to sign pdf file.

I try to follow the code example that I saw on your website but I have a
problem.

This is my java code :

try{

  KeyStore ks = KeyStore.getInstance(KeyStore.getDefaultType());

  ks.load(new FileInputStream(keystore.ks),
pdfpassword.toCharArray());

  PrivateKey key = (PrivateKey)ks.getKey(pdf,
pdfpassword.toCharArray());

  Certificate[] chain = ks.getCertificateChain(alias);

  for (int i = 0; i  pdfFilenames.length; i++) {

PdfReader reader = new PdfReader(pdfFilenames[i]);

//on enleve l'extension du nom de fichier à traiter
afin de modifier le nom

String name = pdfFilenames[i].substring(0,
pdfFilenames[i].lastIndexOf('.'));

FileOutputStream fout = new
FileOutputStream(name+_signed.pdf);

PdfStamper stp = PdfStamper.createSignature(reader,
fout, '\0');

PdfSignatureAppearance sap =
stp.getSignatureAppearance();

sap.setCrypto(key, chain, null,
PdfSignatureAppearance.SELF_SIGNED);

sap.setCertificationLevel(PdfSignatureAppearance.CERTIFIED_FORM_FILLING);

//comment next line to have an invisible signature

sap.setVisibleSignature(new Rectangle(100, 100, 200,
200), 1, null);

stp.close();

  }

}catch(Exception e){

  e.printStackTrace();

}

There is no error during the execution.

But I don't see a difference between the first pdf and the pdf signed each time.

In fact, I make different tests.

I use 5 different pdf as input file. At the output only two pdf contain a
signature (although the signature is different in these two cases).

So I don't understand why the signature doesn't work in every case.

If you can help me, it will be great.

Thanks

Best regards,

RE: [iText-questions] Question about iText

2004-07-07 Thread Mohamed Ramadan
you can refer to ch9 (Fonts) to find the answer

if you use ttf fonts you can use the(bold ,italic,..) versions of the font as follows

to write with arial italic use the font ariali instead of arial as follows

BaseFont arialItalic = BaseFont.createFont(ariali.ttf, BaseFont.WINANSI,
BaseFont.EMBEDDED);

cb.setFontAndSize(arialItalic , 12);

thank you

Subject: [iText-questions] Question about iText

Hi

I'm using iText in my Java program. I think it's a good product.

But I have a problem. I don't know how can I set bold, italic and underline
for an absolute-positioned text.

I mean:

cb = writer.getDirectContent();

page1 = writer.getImportedPage(reader, 1)

cb.addTemplate(page1, 0, 0);

cb.beginText();

String docFont = Courier;

BaseFont bf = BaseFont.createFont(docFont, BaseFont.WINANSI,
BaseFont.NOT_EMBEDDED);

cb.setFontAndSize(bf, docDimFont);

cb.showTextAligned(PdfContentByte.ALIGN_LEFT, temp, curPdfX, curPdfY, 0);

...

But I can't find the way to set the character properties (bold, italic,
underline). It's important, and I cannot write text using chunks, paragraphs
and so on, only by absolute positioning. It's a problem.

Please answer me to [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Thank you very much.

Re: [iText-questions] Question about Itext lib on Chinese characters

2002-08-21 Thread Bruno

Quoting Rick [EMAIL PROTECTED]:

   But my questions are:
   1.If I want to use true-type font to display Chinese in other styles, how
 to create basefont?
   I have tried to create basefont and fill the second parameter as
 abvol,but seems not work.
   2.If I want to use other Chinese other than Big5 and Simple Chinese, say
 HongKong Chinese(There are
   some characters unique to HongKong), how can I do?

I answered these questions yesterday and advized Rick to post
the questions again to the mailing list in order to get in touch
with people actually using iText with Asian TTFs or TTCs.

Re: [iText-questions] Question about Itext lib on Chinese characters

2002-08-21 Thread Bruno

Quoting Rick [EMAIL PROTECTED]:

 Now my question is mainly about this:

 I want to use a font that supports HKSCS, like this
 BaseFont bf = BaseFont.createFont(c:\\winnt\\fonts\\hkscsm3u, ???,
 BaseFont.NOT_EMBEDDED);
 I donot know the meaning of the second parameters in this function.And
 I have tried some and an exception throwed say hkscsm3u with ??? is
 not available.

 I want to know according to a ttf file, how to know what should be filled
 in the second parameter?

I think your first parameter should be something like this:
c:\\winnt\\fonts\\hkscsm3u.ttf
c:\\winnt\\fonts\\hkscsm3u.ttc,1
Check if the file is actually there.

The second parameter should be BaseFont.IDENTITY_H or
BaseFont.IDENTITY_V (As you can read at the bottom of Chapter 9
of the tutorial marked with 'Important').

As I already mentioned, the third parameter will be ignored.
A subset of the font will be embedded.

Re: [iText-questions] Question about Itext lib on Chinese characters

2002-08-21 Thread Rick

The code is as follow:

 //創建繁体字字体
BaseFont bfFan = BaseFont.createFont(MHei-Medium,
UniCNS-UCS2-H,BaseFont.NOT_EMBEDDED);
 //使用
cb.setFontAndSize(bfFan, 18);
//输出繁体字
cb.setTextMatrix(150 ,700) ;
cb.showText(窩窩協會) ;
//创建香港字字体
BaseFont bfHK = BaseFont.createFont(c:\\winnt\\fonts\\hkscsm3u.ttf,
BaseFont.IDENTITY_H, BaseFont.NOT_EMBEDDED);
//使用
cb.setFontAndSize(bfHK, 18);
//输出香港字
cb.setTextMatrix(150 ,800) ;//\u3F63\uF3A0
cb.showText(\u3F63\uF3A0) ;

Now I can output both Traditional Chinese and Specific charaters
of HongKong.

To my strange, I can not output Tranditional Chinese by HK Font!
