[JAWS-Users] Acronyms Saying Letters
Hi All, Running Windows 7 & Jaws 16. Is there any way other than the dictionary manager to have Jaws read acronyms in all caps like, SOS or UPS, as individual letters instead of words? I've tried changing settings with, expand abbreviations & acronyms, without any success, & also, Spell Alphanumeric Data, without any luck there either. All suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks much. Take care. Mike Sent from my iBarstool. For answers to frequently asked questions about this list visit: http://www.jaws-users.com/help/

VFO have officially said they aren't supporting Edge yet in JAWS, so this result isn't surprising at all. To what extent the responsibility lies with VFO and to what extent with Microsoft isn't clear. NVDA have some support for it already. In my experience, when a message is set up to be forwarded, additional paragraph breaks appear, sometimes lots of > (greater than) signs, and so on. The "unformatted Unicode text" option in paste special simply conforms the font size and style, etc., to the existing document or, if you haven't yet created a document, to your default format. In Word, this feature saves your document from being littered with all kinds of inconsistent line spacing, fonts, etc. -Original Message- From: JAWS-Users-List [mailto:jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of Michael B. I am aware that selecting text while in a edit mode will alter the selected text but, when copying text & pasting it into a text file, that's exactly what you're doing. Take care. In the latest situation, I tried to select, copy, and paste the info I wanted after putting the e-mail in the forwarding mode, but only got partial information, and some of what I did not want. In this case, the info presented is in a table format, which, as Adrian suggested, could be part of the problem. Even though it is a bit more work, I can select, copy, and paste the entire e-mail into a notepad document, and work with it from there. I have yet to try the paste special option, but will do so at some point. Or, do you have the message in edit mode, as in forward / reply mode? Running Outlook Express , & not Outlook, I always have the message I want to copy text from in an edit mode so the cursor won't jump around on me using the text selection keystrokes. Take care. Regardless, my workaround is: select and copy the entire message not with control-a,-but by placing focus at the top of the message and pressing shift-control-end. Paste the copied text into Notepad, Select and copy that result with control-a, Paste the result into an empty Word file. Then I search for the passage I want and go from there. If I paste from the email to Word, the confusing table format is retained. As I write, I'm wondering if I've tried the control-alt-v paste special method to paste as unformatted text. You might try that in order to skip the Notepad step. -Original Message- From: JAWS-Users-List [mailto:jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of Tom Behler Sent: Saturday, November 12, 2016 9:36 AM To: 'Jaws users list' Subject: [JAWS-Users] Problems With Selecting, Copying, And Pasting e-mail message content In Outlook 2016 Hello, everyone. Recently, I have been having problems with selecting, copying, and pasting e-mail message content in Outlook 2016. In many instances, the text I select does not correspond to what I later copy and paste either into a word or notepad document. I have tried routing the PC cursor to the Jaws cursor, but this does not solve the issue. The only way I can get the copied and pasted text to correspond to the selected text is to select the text character by character, and then go through the usual copy
