These short lessons also include step by step instructions on how to use them, and how to get the most out of them, by hearing my various examples of how to use them. *Text documents. Pressing the backspace key in any text document, will remove the letter to the left of the cursor. Pressing the keyboard combination control+backspace key will delete the whole word to the left of the cursor. *File explorer. Using the backspace key in any open File explorer window, will take you up one level from your current position. For example, if I press enter on my name James, on my desktop, this desktop shortcut opens my James user's folder. I hear not-selected, Book share books, 1 of 14. These are my 14 individual, user folders. Pressing the down arrow key, will highlight and select any folder that comes into focus. Or if I use first letter navigation, and press the letter d, until I hear documents, and press enter. I will hear, not selected, BARD 1 of 27. I am now sitting in my document's folder. I can press enter to open any document, Or press the backspace key to go back up one level to my list of 14 user's folders. Ok, now press the backspace key, I am now back up one level in my file explorer window to my James folder with my 14 users folders, I am still sitting on the document folder. If I press the home key, my first folder is selected and I am placed on, my bookshare books folder. Now if I press enter on my bookshare books folder. I will hear, not selected, animals, 1 of 16. This is because I have made 16, main folders of categories for all my bookshare book folders. For example, if I press the letter b, and press enter on, bible various books. I will hear, not selected, a study of angels, 1 of 156. If I press the letters, d, a together quickly, and press enter on David Jeremiah. I will here, not selected, 31 days to happiness, 1 of 37. Now from right here, if I press the backspace key, I will go back up one level, to the bible various books window, with David Jeremiah highlighted. Now if I press j,o,h very quickly and down arrow and press enter on, John F. Macarthur. I will hear, not selected, 1 and 2 peter, courage in times of trouble, 1 of 46. Now from hear, if I press the backspace key, I will go up one level in file explorer, to the bible various books window, with the John F. Macarthur, folder highlighted. If I press the backspace key again, I will go up one level to the bookshare book window, with bible various books highlighted. If I press the backspace key again, from this bookshare books file explorer window. I will hear, James, not selected, bookshare books, 1 of 14. This works in all file explorer windows on your computer. As you go forward and down to each level in the file explorer windows by pressing enter on the selected folders, you come back up one level at a time in the file explorer window, by pressing the backspace key. *On the internet. When you are on most internet websites, if you have pressed enter on a link and want to go back to the previous page, press the backspace key or ALT+left arrow key. *Settings area in W-10. Pressing the backspace key, will delete one letter at a time, from any search edit boxes that, you are in. Holding down the backspace key in the search edit boxes, will delete all characters quickly, the longer you keep the backspace key pressed down, and the more characters are deleted. *Tip, sometimes in certain situations, you must keep the delete key, held down to clear an edit box, instead of the backspace key. *Using the file explorer, quick access shortcut, windows key+e. Read my audio tutorial called, pinning items 1, quick access. Read the text tutorial in the W-10 and Jaws anniversary update, complete guide part one, under the section called, Using Quick Access in Windows 10 with Jaws. Best regards, Lisa Malwarebytes Customer Service ***My Reply: Hi Lisa, Navigating MWB 3.0 is not the problem, but what is meant by being accessible is doing tasks like scheduling a scan or updates, reading scan results, telling MWB to exclude files / folders, or removing an item from quarantine, and telling it to exclude certain items when scanning, for some examples. Like I say navigation is no problem for some, but it is for others, but that is always going to be the case because there is such a vast difference of skill sets amongst screenreader users. It's the accessibility that's the issue, & that's where only the more skilled / advanced users are having some success, where the less skilled users, which is most of the screenreader users, are having problems, so they are still using the more accessible version of MWB 1.75. I know different people are going to have definitions for being able to navigate a program, & a program being accessible, but anytime I have to work at using a program verses the program working for me, is when I consider it not accessible for most users. Subject: Difference Between MWB 1.75 & 2.2 JAN 30, 2017 | 10:50AM PST Original message Hello, I'm trying to tell other blind users of MWB that 1.75 does not use the same definitions as 2.2, as I was told by someone from MWB, but I'm not computer literate enough to explain the difference. Would you please tell me if 1.75 does or does not use the same protection definitions, & explain the differences if not? This will really help many members of the blind community help understand your product & possibly upgrade to the newer version, if necessary. By the way, MWB 3.0 is not accessible for us blind people using screen reading programs. Take care. Mike Sent from my iBarstool. FEB 02, 2017 | 08:30AM PST Lisa replied: Hello Mike, Welcome to Malwarebytes support, my name is Lisa and I'll be discussing this issue with you. Version 1.75 and 2.2.1 do use the same definitions database, but 2.2.1 includes a rootkit scanner and better / faster remediation. I do realize that Jaws works really well with version 1.75, and 2.2 leaves a lot to be desired of when it comes to compatibility with screen readers, Jaws in particular. Malwarebytes 3.0 is supposed to be compatible with screen readers, but what I'd like to do is install Jaws on my test machine and see for myself how well it does. I'll get back to you later this evening and relay my findings to you. [JAWS-Users] Speech verbosity
I am using W10, outlook 2010 and latest jaws and I am having a problem with speech verbosity check list. When I go into speech verbosity and to change a setting jaws only says button and I have no idea what button I am pressing. If someone could tell me how to get back the function name of each button I would appreciate it very much. I hope I have made myself clear. I remember having this problem long ago but I can't remember how I corrected it. Thanks much, FRED C. Hi Humberto, you are welcome, I have not had a lot of free time to see what is all on the site. But for a free site, I am impressed so far. -Original Message- From: JAWS-Users-List [mailto:jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of Humberto Rodriguez Sent: Thursday, February 2, 2017 10:08 PM To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] Fun website called, Internet Archive Hello Jim: It is a great site! David gave me permission to share this website with you all. I came across this website that works well with Jaws. They have hundreds of thousands of free downloads. They have a live music concert archive. I have downloaded four albums by the New Orleans suspects, a blues and funk band. Very good live recordings for free. Just encase the below web link does not work for you, the web address is called: Internet Archive: Digital Library of Free Books, Movies, Music & Wayback Machine The web address is: https://archive.org/index.php Please enjoy the site and let me know what you think about their music and other stuff. Happy listening. Smiles...
