Same in Outlook 2010. I tried at the time. I also went through the context
menu/applications key options, but nothing there. Worth a try, though.

Mike, I'm guessing Outlook Express is the difference maker. Although Outlook

has a number of advantages over OE, I remember it had one or two strengths.
One was that I could find the message number in a message list. In Outlook, all
I can do is find the number of messages in a folder, with no indication where I
am in that list. I wouldn't be surprised if the message headers location is
also accessed more easily.

Thanks, Umberto, for this post. There have been times when I could have used

these instructions, and they will come up again in the future. For sheer
simplicity, the instructions Mike posted cover many situations. However, they
won't always work for the "To" line because senders' email addresses don't
always appear with the names. An alternative is to set up a reply to the
message and arrow through the "To" line in the headers there. Sometimes,

but not always, the sender's address will be paired with the name in the "To"
heading.

Umberto's method, if I'm not mistaken, should always get to the sender's
address. When you really need to know that address, it will be worth the extra
steps.

Hi Ann Marie,

The character at the end of each line except the bottom line is a paragraph
mark. To replace it in Word you can use a caret (shift key with 6) followed
by a lower case p. In the Replace With box you can use caret mark followed
immediately by a lower case t. Use the Replace all to replace all paragraph
marks with tabs.

If there is more text in the document you might want to first select what
you want to replace before using the Replace dialog box.

If you copy the text with the paragraph marks each word will go on a
separate row in a column when pasted in Excel. If you have tabs instead of
the paragraph marks then text will be placed in cells of the same row.

Take care.

Second, how can I get the auto-fill to start working again when I enter the

of these JAWS UPDATES DESTROYED THE Outlook auto-fill function. Thanks.

Hi All,

An update, J2018.1710.42, has been released to fix the most recent Outlook
problem, a note about it is below the download links.

32 Bit:

http://jaws2018.vfo.digital/171042CV129T/J2018.1710.42enu-x86.exe

64 Bit:

http://jaws2018.vfo.digital/171042CV129T/J2018.1710.42enu-x64.exe

Note for Updated Build

The build of JAWS 2018 now posted for download, is newer than the one found on
the shipping DVD for October 2017. This was necessary to add a fix for Outlook
365 customers who were not hearing auto-complete information when typing email
addresses. Anyone who has previously installed JAWS 2018, and is experiencing
the issue with auto-complete in Outlook from Office 365, should download the
current build and install over top of the earlier build. This fix will be
included in the first automatic update for JAWS 2018, scheduled to release in
early December.

Take care. Mike. Dodgers, try again next year!

HI Adrian & Humberto,

You can also get properties / the Internet Headers using the steps below:
1. With the message highlighted / selected, but not opened press, Alt + Enter,
to open the properties.
2. Control + Tab to the Details tab, & tab 1 time to, Internet Headers, now
just arrow up / down through them all.

Thanks, Umberto, for this post. There have been times when I could have used

these instructions, and they will come up again in the future. For sheer
simplicity, the instructions Mike posted cover many situations. However,
they won't always work for the "To" line because senders' email addresses
don't always appear with the names. An alternative is to set up a reply to
the message and arrow through the "To" line in the headers there. Sometimes,

but not always, the sender's address will be paired with the name in the
"To" heading.

Umberto's method, if I'm not mistaken, should always get to the sender's
address. When you really need to know that address, it will be worth the
extra steps.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Good replacement media player for Windows 10!

Hi.
You should get Winamp v5.666. It will work under Windows 10. The OS may
complain if you make really long playlists, because Winamp takes a while to
process/sort/randomise them. If that happens, just wait for the programme to
start responding again.

I use winamp too; I thought of suggesting that but I'm not sure it's really
workable with a lot of the modern streaming options, and the OP wanted
something that worked well with online radio etc. Having said that, I
successfully used such services with Winamp for years previously. Nowadays I
mostly just play stuff from my own library.

VLC is great for video formats, but although some claim otherwise, I'm just
not as happy with its playlist options as I am with Winamp's. Plus, it's
equaliser is very inconvenient to set. But if you are a film buff, you
should have it; it plays pretty much everything without the need for plugins
or codecs.

I didn't find a better alternative than Winamp: advanced, very accessible,
compatible with many file formats and, if you need, there are many plugins
for it. It's only comparable to VLC, but this last one seems harder to use
with JAWS.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Top 5 audio enhancers for Windows 10

2017-11-13 Thread JM Casey
AN interesting read for sure. I have not tried any of these and would tend
to be wary of them on principal. Not because I think they are harmful or
anything, but because I tend to find such features don't give an accurate
picture of what the actual audio output is. Maybe it makes a positive
difference for some internet streams, which can be of rather low quality.
Otherwise though, I prefer to just manually adjust my equalizer in my media
player (Winamp or VLC) to get best results according to whatever I happen to
be listening to. I'm not a fan of automatic gain-boosting, either. That's
what a volume control is for. *grins*

I've had soundcards (like the Soundblaster X-fi for instance) that come with
features like this. They call it an "Audio Crystalizer" and it seems to
boost bass quite a lot. That's fine if you want to simulate a dance club or
something, but generally not something I find very desirable.

As for JAWS or other screen-readers ... I seriously doubt you would hear any
positive difference. Do you find JAWS speech unclear? I personally have to
turn the subwoofer all the way down to zero if I want to use the
screen-reader, because giving it a voice that booms, while kind of amusing,
isn't really what I'm after.

You should try these anyway though. I might. You may find the interfaces to
be rather inaccessible though.

Was wondering if anyone’s used any of these sound utilities and whether they
found them to be accessible and actually do in fact increase or enhance
sound quality? Be it audio in general (in my case a laptop) or even if
there’s any positive impact for a screen reader (for me Jaws with
eloquence).

I thought I’d ask first in case someone’s already put them through their
paces and can offer an opinion and hopefully help avoid having to install
and uninstall application after application. Link to the article covering
each one is also below.

Applications in question are:

1. DFX Audio Enhancer

2. Breakaway Audio Enhancer

3. Bongiovi DPS for Windows 10

4. SoundPimp Audio Enhancer

5. Fidelizer Audio Enhancer

My question is this:

Do I have to do the initial Jaws 2018 instalation before upgrading to the

Hi All,

An update, J2018.1710.42, has been released to fix the most recent Outlook
problem, a note about it is below the download links.

32 Bit:

http://jaws2018.vfo.digital/171042CV129T/J2018.1710.42enu-x86.exe

64 Bit:

http://jaws2018.vfo.digital/171042CV129T/J2018.1710.42enu-x64.exe

Note for Updated Build

The build of JAWS 2018 now posted for download, is newer than the one found
on the shipping DVD for October 2017. This was necessary to add a fix for
Outlook
365 customers who were not hearing auto-complete information when typing
email addresses. Anyone who has previously installed JAWS 2018, and is
experiencing the issue with auto-complete in Outlook from Office 365, should
download the current build and install over top of the earlier build. This
fix will be included in the first automatic update for JAWS 2018, scheduled

Mike or anyone:

I currently am using Jaws 18, so haven't upgraded to Jaws 2018 yet.

My question is this:

Do I have to do the initial Jaws 2018 instalation before upgrading to the
newest build, or do I just need the newest build itself?

My SMA is good for Jaws 2018-just need to know how to proceed.

I really want to get Outlook properly working again here if possible.

Hi All,

An update, J2018.1710.42, has been released to fix the most recent Outlook
problem, a note about it is below the download links.

This
fix will be included in the first automatic update for JAWS 2018, scheduled
to release in early December.

Jaws announces, Space, for me. Have you tried selecting the, blank, only
using the Shift + Right Arrow keystroke? Try this:
Navigate character by character using the right arro key, & when you hear,
Blank, press, Shift + Right Arrow, to select, & control + C, to copy the to
the clipboard. Now paste this into the, Find, field, & put whatever in the,
Replace, field, then press, Alt + A, to replace all.

2. Control + Tab to the Details tab, & tab 1 time to, Internet Headers, now

Hello Ted:

Try this:

As to your question 1, from the open message press Alt, then Left-Arrow,
then Down-Arrow, then Enter, then Down-Arrow to "Properties" and press
Enter, then tab seven times to Internet Headers and press Home. From there,
with Down-Arrow, you can read all the headers by letter, word or however you
wish; you can copy them too.

As to your second question, you must go to
http://freedomscientific.com/downloads/JAWS

and download the latest version of JAWS2018. They made an extra version to
correct just the problem you mention, but it does not provoke a download
when you check if you have the latest ersion from your Jaws Help menu.

HTH,

Humberto

Dear List:

First, when I am in outlook 2016, what should I do to read by character the
from and the to email addresses? The alt-1 will read the sender's email
address, but I want to read it character by character. When I hit the
alt-3, it says all the names the sender is sending to, but not their email
addresses. So, how can I read by character, all of these email addresses?

Second, how can I get the auto-fill to start working again when I enter the
recipient's name I am sending to? I have updated to Jaws 2018. Perhaps one
of these JAWS UPDATES DESTROYED THE Outlook auto-fill function. Thanks.

I temporarily lose speech often when accessing an SD card in my built-in
card reader. Here's what happens.

When I insert my SD card into the card reader, most times I lose speech
for

about 20 seconds and each time I take some action the same thing happens.
For example, I must wait about 20 seconds or so after inserting the card
before I can arrow up and down to locate a folder. Once I get speech, I
can
arrow up and down fine, but as soon as I enter on a folder name to open
the

folder, I lose speech again for about 20 seconds. The same thing happens
when I press the applications key to bring up the context menu. I must
wait

the 20 seconds or so before I can arrow through the menu.

I'm running JAWS 2018 on Windows 10 version 1703, although this same
problem

occurred on JAWS 18 on this computer. This only happens with SD cards and
not absolutely every time, but most times. Accessing the local SSD,
external

USB drives and network drives all behave as they should.

I suspect this might be an issue with some setting in Windows 10, but I
have

no idea what setting or where to look for it. And perhaps it's something
altogether different. I'm open to all suggestions.

Thanks,
Jeff
