Insert+F is the command in JAWS 7.x, and Insert+f+f is the command in JAWS
8.x. Daryl gave a good explanation of how to work with the point
measurement system, but I still don't know the correlation between the 2
different types of measurements in Excel.

Insert and f does give the column width and height. But, I don't understand
what units are used. I find that the column width read from the menu
bar/format menu give the same in different units. Can someone tell me about
the units used for column width?

Insert F1 did bring up a JAWS window with information about the current
 file
and worksheet, but I could not find any information about column width.
 Am
 I over looking it?

I've read over quite a bit in the JAWS help and could not find out
 anything
on finding out the width of a column or cell. I find it hard to believe
that there is not a JAWS command for obtaining this info.

 Any other ideas?

You're right. I woke up in the middle of the night to realize that I
 meant
to say insert-f1. It will give the column with. Insert-f1-f1 is another
function altogether. Thanks for the catch.

With the cursor in the column you want to know about, press
  insert-f1-f1. That is, hold down insert---the Jawskey--and press f1
twice quickly. You will hear a ton of information in a virtual
window, and the width of the cell will be a part of it. Press
escape to escape the virtual window and return to your text.

 Insert+F

Insert-f1 gives you a document summary, including the width of the
cell in the table where your cursor is.
