Re: [JAWS-Users] FireFox Crash Reporter.

2017-06-06 Thread Jared Rimer

Hi there Tom,

I'm running 53.x with no issues and have pretty much switched to jaws
now full time. I've personally not had any issues except for the
weirdness of the RSS feed, but that was all. Each milage will vary, and
whatever works for you is great.

Well, I've been advised by a number of people to not have Firefox automatically
update. I am told that to maximize accessibility with Jaws, I might actually
want to roll back to Firefox 47 or 48.

Currently, I'm using Firefox version 52. I have turned off Firefox automatic
updates, and think I'll stick with version 52, at least in the short term.

Hi Tom,

I've not gotten to this list till now, sorry about that. If you tell firefox
to check for updates in the help menu, it'll go find out that there is an
update. How it stopped, I've got no idea, but I'm running 53.x with no issues.
Updates won't install unless the browser is closed and reopened, in case its
been awhile. Maybe others have answered your question, and if those solutions
have worked, thats great.

As another interesting note, I used to have Firefox set to
automatically update, but apparently that doesn't work any more, since
I believe the latest version of Firefox is version 53.

Does anyone know how I can get the automatic updates started again?

Perhaps a newer version of Firefox will solve the frequent crashing
problem, although I worry how well it will work with Jaws 18 and Windows 7 here.

And, it is the reason that I am seriously considering dropping Firefox, and
moving to Chrome as my main internet browser.

Obviously, the latest versions of Firefox are becoming less and less stable,
which to me represents a significant backward step.

I just don't have the desire or inclination to deal with these sorts of
issues, which seem to relate to software design flaws more than anything
else.

This is happening to me also, to a degree that is becoming much less
acceptable.

And, it is the reason that I am seriously considering dropping Firefox, and
moving to Chrome as my main internet browser.

Obviously, the latest versions of Firefox are becoming less and less stable,
which to me represents a significant backward step.

I just don't have the desire or inclination to deal with these sorts of
issues, which seem to relate to software design flaws more than anything
else.

This is coming up quite a few times, and the page is able to be recovered
very quickly, but this is happening more than I care to deal with. The main
sites I get on are Youtube, Amazon, Facebook, the NFB site, rusc.com, to
name a few. These aren't little-known sites with issues. Oh, yes,
Bookshare and BARD as well.

I will be totally happy if I can trust Google Chrome to see everything that
is on the web page. My glaring example is m.facebook.com where the events
link that takes you to upcoming events, birthdays, and creating events is
totally missing. If anyone has an answer to this one, they will be the
Google Chrome hero of the day hahahhaaha!

Thanks to all.
