Re: [JAWS-Users] High Importance E-mail

2018-05-03 Thread Fernando Gregoire
Hi Tom,

Yes, using access keys underline in the ribbon is also convenient. I can't
however indicate commands of that type here, because unlike the ones in
ribbons of Windows apps such as WordPad and File Explorer, access keys are
different in non-English Office versions, because Office 2007 and higher
allow some Office 2003 access keys (which were language-specific as in any
menu bar) for backwards compatibility. By the way, while the access key for
attaching a recent file in Spanish Outlook 2016 is ALT+B, A, V, the key
sequence will probably be different in the English version.
For the case of the High Importance button, even when I don't remember the
access key, I'm sure ALT+H is ALT+O in Spanish, the one for the Home tab
for compatibility with the Tools menu previously opened with ALT+H (Tools
in Spanish is Herramientas).

Thanks, Kimsan.

As usual, there is more than one way to accomplish the task, which is a good
thing.

Always good to have alternatives.

Tom:

After typing your message, you can even do this before you even start
typing, press alt enter.
It'll be on normal, down arrow once and high importance is right there.
Press enter and send the email.

Hello, everyone.

Does anyone know of a key stroke for designating an e-mail as "high
importance" in Outlook 2016?

I can get to the high importance designation via the menus, but would like a
specific key stroke for doing this if that is available.

Am using the latest build of Jaws 2018 on a windows 7 laptop here.

Thanks as always!

Fernando:

Others have suggested the alt H followed by H command, and this seems to work
well for me when I want to designate a message as "high importance".

However, your strategy is also a good one, and I'll save it for future
reference if the key strokes mentioned above do not work.

Thank you very much!

Hi Tom,

The easiest way to add a keystroke for this is to add the item to the Quick
Access Toolbar by opening a new message, finding in the Message tab the High
Importance button, pressing APPLICATIONS or SHIFT+F10 and choosing Add to Quick
Access Toolbar item. If you haven't added nor removed anything from the Quick
Access Toolbar for the message editing window the High Importance button should
be the fourth item, so it would be assigned to ALT+4.
Since ALT+NUMBER keystrokes are assigned in JAWS for reading Outlook message
headers, you will have to press JAWS+3 before using the abobe mentioned
keystroke.

Hope it helps!

There is no need to do that just press alt enter arrow down once and your
there. This works in 2010 as well as 2016. Someone said that I forget who.
