You are right. It didn't tackle my problem. Had
to add some blank replacement references for the
characters I didn't want spoken in the Dictionary manager.

Couldn't find the characters I wanted silenced
listed under the customize punctuation option in
the settings center. Guess this will have to do.
At least I can read my email in Eudora Pro in peace now.

You are right. It didn't tackle my problem. Had

Hi Kenny,

As you have probably figured out by now, that setting doesn't do any good 
for the punctuation / symbols that you are looking to silence.  Here's what 
that setting does:
Use this edit box to determine when special characters are announced. Some 
special characters are always announced. For example, the symbols for 
Copyright, Registered, and Trademark are always read by JAWS. Select Never 
so that most special characters are not announced. This is the default 
setting. Select Type Echo, Say Char, Spell Word so that most special 
characters are announced when typing, when reading by character, or when 
spelling a word. Select Also Say Word so that special characters are
