After you press those key combinations, you navigate with F6.

Hello Adrian, I tried each of the choices that you listed below and none of
them worked. If I go into Review and tab to Thesaurus and hit enter or
spacebar it closes and takes me back to the document. I just tried alt-r and r
and it closed the menu. Shift F7 did nothing at all. It sounds like there is
something else going on here. I used the Thesaurus a couple of weeks ago and
it did bring up synonyms. This may mean a call to Microsoft support because I
have no more hair to pull out. Great suggestions but...

It might help to clarify something, at least to the extent I understand it.
When you press the application key or right mouse button then y, a list of
synonyms appears that you can go through with the down arrow. At the bottom of
that list is the word "thesaurus," which points the way to a bigger source of
thesaurus entries. I haven't mastered this second option, but it leads to a
combo box with Bing, English, Spanish and other options. You can also get to
this thesaurus option by pressing alt-r, then r, or by pressing shift-F7. I do
know that shift-F7 works in Word 2007 because I have a note about it going back
to that version. However, neither of these last two options brings up the
automatic synonyms list that you get with the first (applications/right mouse
key) option.

Hi,
I have Word 2007 at work but in Spanish, so as Synonyms word in Spanish has no
y letter at all, access key used in Spanish may not correspond to the one used
English. Moreover, in the Review tab in English Microsoft uses the term
“thesaurus”, which is not also used in Spanish.
I'll try to check the Microsoft Language Portal, but full UI translations
requires an MSDN subscription which is not free, and searching with the &
symbol is difficult in the query web UI.

2017-07-01 Thread Adrian Spratt
As you arrow down through the list of synonyms that you get by pressing the
applications key, then y, you land on "Thesaurus..." Here are instructions
posted by a person named Dondi for what to do from here. I admit I can't get
this to work, but Dondi did, so it must be possible.

This works in Word 2010 and JAWS 13.0.718.
Press F6 until you get to research edit and you hear the word that you selected
in your document.
Tab down once to the start searching button and press space bar.
You will hear thesaurus English .
Tab down once, you should hear thesaurus English outline expanded.
Arrow down through the list of words.
When you find one you want press shift+F10 and select insert and press enter.
Press escape and you will return to your document with the new word pasted in
as a replacement.

Hello all-

I am using Windows 7 64bit with MS Word 2007. I have a word in the document
that I would like a definition or synonym for. I highlighted the word,
Opened the Review menu and tabbed to the Thesaurus since I could not find a
Definition button. I pressed spacebar on the Thesaurus and it throws me
back into the document instead of giving me a synonym. How can I get the
Thesaurus to work?

Thanks in advance,

Wayne
