Leonard: I should have been clearer about a few points in my earlier update. I did try Narrator and NVDA, and experienced the same sluggishness and speaker static issues. I also experienced them with earlier versions of Jaws. Fortunately, I've been working on things now for about a half hour, and everything seems to be back to normal. Not sure why checking the control sound configurations and re-doing the docking station interface could have solved the problem, but I seem to be ok once again. Well, you might be right. I had some sighted assistance a little while ago. We went into the control panel and checked on a few of the sound card settings. After that, things improved slightly. Then, I took the computer out of the docking station I use, and put it back in. Now the computer seems to be functioning much more normally. Don't know what might have happened. All I know is that the problems I had earlier occurred after the latest Jaws update. Whether or not the update is truly related to what I experienced is still unclear to me. Perhaps the update temporarily messed with some sound card or other configurations. Tom, Unless you've tried it already, I'd complete uninstall JAWS 2018 to get back to an earlier version and determine that you've solved the problem. Then install an earlier version (you do keep all the files, don't you?) of JAWS 2018 and avoid the latest build. I suspect it’s a hardware problem also because You mentioned something about static in your speakers.
