Thanks.  I unwrapped the OS from around the tree after I crashed it and I
will try your method if the monster strikes again.  I think that Narrator
works differently with my Windows 7 but  I get the picture.  The Run
dialogue box is another shot.

Wayne, if you are running Windows 10, you can always do winds key plus enter
to activate narrator.  That said, if jaws goes out, I first do a windows
plus letter R for run and type in jaws17  and press enter and jaws may come
back up.  Or narrator comes up with the windows enter key.

For us, silence is not especially golden.  I just had my computer freeze
after I saved some Learning All books from my SD card to a folder in my C
drive.  The computer went silent.  My wife told me that there was a warning
on the screen and the option to run a reset to an earlier point.  The point
is that if my wife wasn't there I would be stuck in the silence.  Any
thoughts on options other than to hold down the power button until I force a
shutdown?

In Windows 7, you can bring Narrator up with windows+u followed by alt+n.
