Re: [JAWS-Users] Jaws muted after I received help through Team Viewer

2014-04-28 Thread Angel
perhaps your speakers were muted. This is one of the reasons I use USB
headphones to listen to Jaws. Also, I can listen to my music. While using
Jaws. Which is an added bonus. Once I required new headphones, and my
speakers became muted. I rushed to get new ones. I used Jaws to unmute my
speakers, and I was good to go.

I received help with a task from my sighted computer person today and as
the

task was being completed, Jaws went silent. He couldn't help with this
remotely, apparently, and when I rebooted, Jaws did not start. He actually
came to my house and started Jaws in about 2 seconds. When I asked what
the
problem was, he said that Jaws had been muted. He didnd't seem to know
what

I could have done on my own to start it. In this case, would insert, space
bar, and S have worked Or is there something else I could have done?

2014-04-28 Thread Miriam Vieni
It's a desktop computer and I didn't hear a thing, nothing when I rebooted.
I just have a normal keyboard for a 64 bit win7 computer. I did ask him and
he said it was in the system. This guy has worked for the Commission for the
Blind in the past and he has an administrative position in a college office
for disabled students. He just ran a conference on accessibility. But
although he knew Jaws years ago, he doesn't know all that much about it now.
He just assumed it was inaccessible to me.

Were you hearing other sounds on your computer when JAWS was muted? Do you
have a laptop, LogiTech or other wireless, or a multimedia, keyboard which
would have extra keys (including one for muting and unmuting
sound) that might have been activated? Best thing would've been to ask him
how he successfully unmuted JAWS.
