Thanks Mike, but... the letter "š" with diacritic cannot be rendered
properly with the current font. I've noticed a similar problem in Polish,
too. I guess changing the font is not an option. Could you please then
change the translation of "Performance" to "Produktyvumas" for Lithuanian?
Thanks!

Re: [libreoffice-l10n] Fixing new spell out numbering styles in LibreOffice 6.1

2018-05-05 Thread Modestas Rimkus
Hi,

I'll add to (or repeat something) what Rimas wrote about Lithuanian.

2018-05-03, kt, 19:58 Németh László rašė:

> 1. Are these numbers correct in your language?
>

Seems to be correct for Lithuanian, however, gender issue arises for
ordinal numbers.
Moreover, dot is never used as an ordinal indicator in Lithuanian.

Instead, either "-as" (masculine) or "-a" (feminine) is appended to a
number as an ordinal indicator (again, dependent on the gender).
If a year should be spelled out in Lithuanian, it would require yet another
form - pronominal plural numeral.

2. Do we need to change the default format etc. according to the normal
> usage of your country/language variant?
>
> For example, in the recent implementation, British English and American

> 101 -> “One hundred and one”: en-AU, en-GB, en-IE, en-NZ
> 101 -> “One hundred one”: en-US etc.
>

If I understand the question correctly, then no. There's only one version
of Lithuanian language that suits everyone. And we don't add "and" in the
middle of spelled out numerals.

3. Is it enough to support only a single gender in Spanish etc. languages
> to cover common outline and page number usage in publishing?
>
> Book/Part/Chapter/Section/Page/Paragraph One, or simply One (normal usage
> in English outline numbering)
> First Book/Part/Chapter/Section/Page/Paragraph (less common in English, but
> default numbering styles cover this, too)
>

Numerals have to be adapted to the gender of the noun in Lithuanian.
Luckily, there's only two genders and only the last word of the numeral has
to be changed according to the gender.
Out of the few words that were listed, book, part, section, paragraph are
feminine: pirma knyga, pirma dalis, pirma sekcija, pirma pastraipa. Chapter
and page are masculine: pirmas skyrius, pirmas puslapis.

Numerals usualy go together with noun, I can't think of a common case where
there could be number alone.
Also, ordinal number always comes before noun, so it's always "first
chapter", and never "chapter first" or "chapter one".

Modestas

[libreoffice-l10n] Adding extra tags to the translation of Help

2018-01-29 Thread Modestas Rimkus
Hi,

lacking technical knowledge, I'd like to double check if adding extra tags
in the translation of Help would not break anything. When I
do so, Pootle complains about critical XML tags errors. Is it safe to mute
them?

My goal is to unify the appearance of shortcut keys, menu commands, etc. in
the translated text. In the original text, only some of them are emphasized
using the tags, while in the translation according to my language
recommendations I have to either use quotes or emphasize names of commands
and keys in a different way (e.g. bold).

So is this ok if translated string contains more pairs of tags than
the original?

Thanks Stanislav! Unfortunately, no suggestions for me, although 5.2
master UI has these strings translated. I tend to think the translations
were too new to have been uploaded to the external TM where current
suggestions come from, and Pootle does not display suggestions from other

This does not seem to be the case for me. New strings appear as
untranslated, not fuzzy, and no suggestions are given from TM.
As an example, I had swext folder fully translated, and now it has 980

[libreoffice-l10n] Number of new strings in master

Hi,

can someone confirm what is the number of new words for 5.3? I got more
than 5.3k of untranslated words in master for Lithuanian after the update,
which is a bit demotivating. Still hope something might have gone wrong
during the update process :)

https://translations.documentfoundation.org/projects/libo_ui still displays
the old number of untranslated words - 2502 (and old total number as well -
100 863).
As soon as I open the language page (
https://translations.documentfoundation.org/lt/libo_ui), the number of
untranslated words changes to 7863 (and total to 101 784). Confusing...

2016-07-09 Thread Modestas Rimkus
In Draw and Impress there are respectively Pages and Slides. However, in
many places the same UI string is used in both applications. In this way a
page is called "page" in Draw, but then "page" is used to call what
actually is a slide in Impress, or vice versa. While this might be ok in
English, there are completely different terms for "page" and "slide" in
Lithuanian (I believe a few other languages, too). Translating the same
string to fit both applications is complicated, and the result looks
weird...

Here's a few examples of such strings in master:

Slide/Page Pane context menu:
oGDd5||New Page; avSPK||Duplicate Page; 6geGw||Rename page

Status bar: 7DqZj||Slide %1 of %2

Tooltip in Slide/Page Pane:
hpxsK||Slide

Is it possible to separate strings for Draw and Impress so that they can be
translated differently? Should I file a bug for that?

Regards,
Modestas

Re: [libreoffice-l10n] [ANNOUNCE] Locale data date acceptance patterns, localizers HEADS UP please :)

 Hi,

In order to get rid of the annoying accept every input as date that
might resemble some date in almost any locale behavior I recently
implemented locale dependent date acceptance patterns that need to be
matched for date input, for full details see
 http://erack.org/blog/archives/8-LibreOffice-date-acceptance-patterns.html

If in your locale input of incomplete/abbreviated dates shall be
allowed, this will need a DateAcceptancePattern element be added to
 locale data, for example in en-US it's M/D and in de-DE it's D.M.
 (both already in).

Just mail me the pattern(s) for your locale, I'll add it then.

Hi,

please add M-D pattern for Lithuanian (lt). This should be converted into
two-digit numbers and result in -MM-DD. Thanks.

Thanks for the hint, usually that is precisely the kind of button I

 one on the page.

Somehow I didn't realize at first that you're a newly registered user

caught my eye. Of course, you should follow Andre's advice :)
