I have received my Christmas cards. A Romanian point candle from Lin, which
is the first piece of needle lace I have actually held in my hands! A red
and green torchen bookmark from Sheila. I will use this all year round, as
red and green are also my family's tartan colours and the bookmark reminds
me of the tartan. And a lovely bell from Janet with a sparkly gold gimp in
white.

[lace] Christmas cards

2010-12-29 Thread J-D Hammett
Hi,

I have just received a lovely card, with a gorgeous piece of deep red lace and
a calendar which is just the right size for my desk.

Thank you so much Laura. I hope you received my card. It was sent with time to
spare (I thought). The card I sent to friends of mine in Alaska –not lace
makers- got theirs before Christmas, but theirs has still to arrive.

Best wishes from Joepie, in misty East Sussex where the temperature has risen
to bearable level.

[lace] Christmas Cards for those that missed it

2010-10-27 Thread Faye Owers
Hi Lacemakers,

I have volunteered to run the Christmas Card Exchange this year so it is
time for you to decide if you would like to participate.
The exchange is open to new and experienced lacemakers and certainly is an
enjoyable experience.
I will require names by 7th November and will send out pairings one week
later, so you can start making cards now.

Please do not put your name forward if you will be unable to finish and post
your card prior to 4th December, as it is very disappointing if you do not
receive a card after sending one.

All replies must be sent my email address f...@tpinstruments.com.au
Cards must be sent to your partner by 4th December, so they will receive
them before Christmas.
Jenny Brandis will again be displaying all cards sent so please remember to
take a picture of your finished card and email it to Jenny, along with a few
details.
Previous Arachne card exchanges can be viewed at the following address
http://www.brandis.com.au/Arachne/2009/index.html
if you would like to look at them.

I will require the following information by 7th November if you would like
to participate and pairings will be sent out one week later:

2008-01-11 Thread martina . dewille
Just wanted to let you know, that I did receive 2 lovely cards with lace early
in
December. Jane sent a pretty Battenberg lace and Debbie made a lovely Torchon
tree
bookmark for me. They are both precious to me.

I have to confess, that due to a lot to do in December and then the sudden
illness of
my daughter, both of my cards were late and I did not scan them. But I
contacted my
partners and by now both cards have arrived.

A few years ago I did not get a card back from one of my partners and never
heard if
my card arrived. But most of the times I had great exchanges and I like the
opportunity
of getting to know a lacemaker a bit better.

Hi Janice

Kathy is the one who sent me the scan and info about that card and I checked
my index of Lace Express. Although Eeva-Liisa Kortelahti has 4 mentions in
the index none of them seem to cover the wonderful lace made by Angela.
Angela, can you clarify this as it is a piece of lace that I would like to
try when I get better at lace making. (you would laugh at my attempts at
leaves right now)

BTW I am going to update the site later this morning so if you
bookmark/favourite does not work, try www.brandis.com.au/2007/index.html

I sent the link for the Arachne cards to all my lace friends so they could
see the cards and one of them replied regarding the card at the bottom of
page 5 which is a portion of a bookmark shown on a red card:
From: Angela Steinhausen
To: Kathy Hensel
The pattern used was designed by Eeva-Liisa Kortelahti, published in Lace
Express.

That's the top portion of that Beds design by Barbara Underwood.

I checked in my Bedfordshire Lace Collection by Barbara Underwood and the
bookmark is on page 103, entitled August and was designed by Carol
Andrews. I no longer get Lace Express (too pricey for my pocket) so I
could not check if it was attributed to Eeva-Liisa Kortelahti. Maybe Angela
can confirm if she did find the pattern in Lace Express. My friend has more
eagle eyes than I do. I spotted the bookmark but did not notice the
caption.

[lace] Christmas Cards Santa pattern

2006-12-20 Thread Clay Blackwell

Greetings Everyone!

I've just spent some time on Jenny's website, looking at all the
wonderful cards sent around the world by members of this list! There
are some stunning cards there!! Thank you Jenny, for all the hard work!!

I've made a tiny url for anyone (like me) who had any trouble getting to
the site:

I wanted to add something to the description of the card I received:
Alice Howell made my card, and it has a Gnome family displayed on a
snowy mountainside. They are just adorable! The patterns for these
Gnomes came from Knypplade Bilder by Fagerlin Hulterstrom - and this
is the book (and the designs) which were mentioned recently on the list
in response to questions about Santa patterns. So look at the third
card down on page two of the Christmas Card site (tiny url above)!!

Hi all,

By card exchange do you mean one card exchanged with one other person, or
many cards? My already very long list of christmas cards couldn't cope with
huge amounts:-)

Sue T, Dorset UK, where it is sunny

Hi everyone

Quiet on the list, isn't it?! Today is dull and damp compared to
previous weeks of clear skies, when I was hiding from the glaring sun.
Now I'm hiding from the damp, and thinking ahead to Christmas.

For the last couple of years we've had a Christmas card exchange on
this list. I coordinated it last year - I'm not going to take this on
again, so perhaps someone else would like to think about it, if people
would like to take part again.

I have an idea that I might make one Christmas card (high hopes that
it will be clever) and will post it at my blog, to share with you all.

I'm mentioning this now because a) it's on my mind and b) if anyone
wants to do a card exchange, it is a good idea to plan early ;)

Hi Sue -

The card exchange that Bev was talking about is one card exchanged with
one other person. The sender makes the card adding a festive piece of
lace she has made. If I'm not mistaken, there is a folder with pictures
of some of last years cards (Barbara Joyce - did you put that on your
website?)
