Re: [LegacyUG] About merging order

2015-07-08 Thread I Macaulay
Sorry,  I am talking about Manual merging.

example :  Bob Jones  =  Mary Brown   is manually merged with Robert Jones and
Mary.
often times the result will be Robert Jones  with 2 wives, other times  Legacy
will open the other duplicates process allowing the merge of Mary with Mary
Brown.

extrapolating this:
Would be a family of 20 individuals that suddenly are noticed as duplicates of
another set with, parallel streams with differences.    Is there a prescribed
pattern to manually merge them.

Ian,

When merging duplicate records within your family file, Legacy's Automerge
feature can be used to automatically merge records that it determines are
most certainly the same person. After the first pair of duplicates is
encountered that can be AutoMerged, Legacy offers to run through the entire
merge and do all the remaining Automerge pairs all at once.  This can
usually save a substantial amount of time.  This option is called
IntelliPass.  To let Legacy continue with this pass, click Yes.

Is there a set guideline or merging order for merging into the middle of
a family?
I have often found myself with a merge and it leaves double parents or
double wives or , well you get the drift. Is there a specific order to
follow  that will avoid most of these duplications.  I have noticed
sometimes the merge goes as planned and others not.

 Hope this makes sense.

Did you read the last paragraph?

The error will also occur if attempting to save a backup file greater than 4gb
on a disk formatted with the FAT32 file system. You must use the NTFS disk
format if files are larger than 4gb. Alternately, all of our backup programs
allow you to save the backup file in smaller 'chunks' to avoid the 4gb limit of
FAT32.

Hi Bob,

Thanks for the kudos. To tell the honest truth, it had never crossed my mind
about printing out the info. I always thought with todays browsers and the
ability to have multiple windows open, you could always keep a page from a
specific site open and flip back and forwards between program as well. It will
take a little time to implement as I am a very busy person, and I'd like to
make sure that it works proper before I upload the new code to print.

As for making the windows/frames larger, most browsers can zoom.

To increase magnification: Ctrl+Shift+ +
To decrease magnification: Ctrl+Shift+ -

See if that helps?

VERY nice tutorials. Excellent screen tips in the graphics, and I like your
do ONLY one info.

However, is there a way to get the steps to be in bigger windows(frames?)?
Also, it is impossible to print the tips - the only thing that shows is what is
in the frame. If you don't want to change the screen setup, maybe you can
add a print tip button/link?

Thanks much,

Some time ago Geoff presented a webinar in which he showed us how to
create mug shot versions of our pictures which were all the same
size and look really good on a chart. Geoff sized one photo as he
wanted it, then using Adobe Photoshop Elements he dragged that
picture on top of another one which caused the second one to be
 adjusted to the same size.

I have not been able to do this. I rather think Geoff was using
either version 11 or 12 of Elements and I only have version 10. Does
anyone know if this facility was a feature that was only introduced
after version 10, or is it likely that I am doing something wrong?
