RE: [LegacyUG] synchronise databases
Paul it is a combination of multiple computers for me and also two other users. I had hoped with competition for features on different products ww would have had this feature by now. The fact that legacy are still using a mailing list shows I was probably irrational in my optimism. If I continue to use legacy intellishare seems the only option. What is your situation? Do you have multiple researchers collaborating on a single project, or is it a single user (you) trying to keep multiple computers (e.g. desktop and laptop) up to date? If it's multiple users (I'm assuming it is since you mentioned Intellishare), I can see why you would not want to use Dropbox since you have to be very careful to prevent user A from overwriting User B's updates. Just too dangerous Legacy's Intellishare is the best option I know of for having multiple users update files without worrying about what other users are doing and then merging the results. Other than that, I think your only option is some kind of centralized online file such as an Ancestry member tree, but you lose a lot of features (e.g. virtually no reports) that way. If it's just you updating multiple computers, then I don't know what the objection is to Dropbox or one of it's cousins. Re: [LegacyUG] synchronise databases
I havent used intellishare but had assumed both the databases had to be local or on a local network. If I could sync over the internet it would be a lot easier. I will look at it more when I am home and have a computer and not my phone ;) --- Original Message --- From: Mike Fry emjay...@gmail.com Sent: 26 April 2013 8:11 PM To: LegacyUserGroup@LegacyUsers.com Subject: Re: [LegacyUG] synchronise databases On 2013/04/26 14:02, sci...@outlook.com wrote: Mike I dont understand your reply.
