Instead of using Word, one can use OneNote .
I have a OneNote notebook on each data file. I then have a Page on each person
that I want to save the info on. When copying and pasting, the source from the
internet is also copied with in the note. One will be surprised how useful
OneNote can be if family research.

Bob,

I like to print out crochet patterns but without the advertising that I would
get if I printed the full page. So what I do is copy the selection I want to
print, paste it into Word, reformat the fonts and resize images (some fonts are
way too small for me to easily read and some images are way bigger than
necessary), then I can save the article and/or print it.

Be sure to put the URL in at the bottom of the document before you print it so
you have proper citation of where you found it!

BTW, when you print, it doesn't care what you have the browser display set
at.. it apparently copies or prints based on the fonts used in the web
pages.

As always, an excellent tutorial Mark!

VERY nice tutorials. Excellent screen tips in the graphics, and I like
 your do ONLY one info.

However, is there a way to get the steps to be in bigger windows(frames?)?
Also, it is impossible to print the tips - the only thing that shows is what
is in the frame. If you don't want to change the screen setup, maybe you
can add a print tip button/link?

 Thanks much,

As far as increasing the size - the ctrl/shift/+ enlarges the ENTIRE web

Granted, it looks clean and sharp, but having a bigger frame would allow
one to see more of the document without scrolling withIN the frame window.

Yes, Sherry, I do that too! I also find that I cannot print anything from the web as I want it. I like to remove all the ads and extraneous things from the pages, and re-format to suit me (and make it fit on one page, if possible). I will often use Word (so I can include pics) or sometimes Wordpad, which is a simpler text-only program (saved in RTF format). There are other text programs one can use, whatever you have available on your computer. I can then store these files according to topic and all is well! Well, at least until MS changes their format once again and these older files will not open!

I frequently use something called printfriendly to print things I want on
the internet. I am able to delete anything that I don't want, choose which
pictures I want, etc and then choose to print or download as a pdf file.
I've found it very easy to work with. Just go to www.printfriendly.com

 *Subject:* [LegacyUG] Neat mug shots

Some time ago Geoff presented a webinar in which he showed us how to
create mug shot versions of our pictures which were all the same
size and look really good on a chart. Geoff sized one photo as he
wanted it, then using Adobe Photoshop Elements he dragged that
picture on top of another one which caused the second one to be
 adjusted to the same size.

I have not been able to do this. I rather think Geoff was using
either version 11 or 12 of Elements and I only have version 10. Does
anyone know if this facility was a feature that was only introduced
after version 10, or is it likely that I am doing something wrong?

He just sent out an e-mail that I think covers this. See this link:

(The e-mail was 7/2/15, New Legacy QuickTip Video - How to Create a
Mother's Chart)

Sorry - maybe that link isn't related to your question since he doesn't
use Photoshop in that video. But still may be worth watching, maybe it
will be an alternate way to get to what you are looking for. It does
cover creating mug-shots of a line.
