If there are multiple connections, as Pat said, you can include all of them in the report by using the option to print all relationships but each will be a separate chart showing the path between the people for that specific connection. Re: [LegacyUG] Relationship indicators in reports
Hi Kathy, As others have said, the relationship calculator chart is great for showing how one person is connected to another person. However, if you want people to see more than that there is the Relationship Report which shows how every person with a relationship is related to a particular person (or you can limit it by related AND having a particular tag). Then in the Book Reports for the Descendant Book Report and the Ancestor Report you can choose to have the relationship show as part of the section header - see the Heading Layout Tab. This may be what you are looking for. In the Descendant Narrative Report, you have to be in the know to understand the numbers that can be added. Cathy Kathy Meyer mailto:kmeyer2...@gmail.com Monday, 8 September 2014 9:45 PM Are there any charts or reports that will indicate the relationship to the home person or even better, the relationship to a chosen person from the database? I know the descendant report will highlight/bold the direct line ancestors but that doesn't tell their actual relationship (6th gr grandparent etc). I usually send a pedigree chart to a new contact I've found so they can see that we are related to the same family branch. I would also love to send reports to cousins and show them how they are related etc. Non-genealogists prefer something more simple and direct that can be understood easily. I think those relationship indicators are perfect for that if they would print. Thanks! Love that feature by the way :-) I have a 5th great grandfather/grandmother that shows up and the name is 'bolded' to show the direct line (another cool feature). For some reason, when I entered the parents for the 5th great grandfather, I don't get my relationship indicator anymore - it doesn't 'bold' him in the list with his siblings and it doesn't show 6th great grandfather/mother over his parents' names. I thought maybe the program only showed up to 5 and thought that was rather stingy of them (haha!) but decided to look at some other lines and I have another that at least shows to 7th great so that's not the answer. What might I have done here? I've gotten quite used to having those two 'direct line' features to help me navigate my file and I'm entering multiple generations beyond this one so I figure I'd better get this fixed now. RE: [LegacyUG] relationship indicators
Have you re-set the relationship calculator since adding the new people (i.e. parents of 5th great grandfather)? You have to reset after entering new people. I wouldn’t do it after entering each individual – I’d enter a few and then recalculate if you need the relationship to help you enter more new people etc. Otherwise, reset after you have finished entering new people for that session. Relationships are not updated on the fly, you have to force an update every now and then. Highlight your own record, then click on ToolsSet Relationships, select any options you want and then click Set Relationships. -- Jenny M Benson Legacy User Group guidelines: http://www.LegacyFamilyTree.com/Etiquette.asp Archived messages after Nov. 21 2009: http://www.mail-archive.com/legacyusergroup@legacyusers.com/ Archived messages from old mail server - before Nov. 21 2009: http://www.mail-archive.com/legacyusergroup@legacyfamilytree.com/ Online technical support: http://www.LegacyFamilyTree.com/Help.asp Follow Legacy on Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/LegacyFamilyTree) and on our blog (http://news.LegacyFamilyTree.com). I have gone into the relationships window and looked and it is set to 999. I opened the relationship calculator with the 6th great selected and clicked 'calculate relationships' and it still didn't change...I know I'm missing something simple.Sorry if I'm being dense but if I could get a little more specific details on how to reset?
